Love the video brother. I have a 2018 diesel zr2 over here in North Carolina as my daily driver and I am just about to hit 50k. I have not reset my trip odometer since I bought it brand new and it shows I am averaging 23 MPG over the 50k miles with a solid mix of city and highway almost daily. It’s completely stock with no engine mods or tuning. So far the only issue I have had has been a faulty speed sensor in the tranny that was covered in the warranty. I’ve taken it off-road to the beach’s on the coast and to the Piedmont in Uwharrie NF trails where it took the thee D’s (Dutch John, Dickey Bell, Daniel) on with only some scrapes to the plates and rock bars. I love this rig and look forward to riding it till I die.

Thanks for great content. Thanks to you, I found out about and put on that rear differential and I'm planning on putting on those rear shock skids. I live on the east coast and did Peter's mills run as my first actual off road adventure. Having that rear differential skid plate gave me extra confidence going over two rock features that concerned me. I didn't scrap anything, but Having that differential skid plate sure took off some psychological pressure! LOL I'm planning on doing Flag Pole as soon as I get my rear shock skids put on. Knowing that your ZR2 is still going strong after 50K miles is great news to me too. Hector, I don't even come close to using my 2020 ZR2 like you do, but I sure appreciate your information and good advice to ZR2 owners. I learned a lot from you my friend. Big Thanks! Steve

In terms of saving money on a build if someone came out with an air locker for the axles on the W/T and Z71 models then a W/T would be the way to go. You're already gonna swap the suspension and bumpers and all that might as well start with the cheapest option. They sell 12 inch tablet dash inserts with GPS capability as well so you're only really missing out on half-leather seats and dual zone climate and factory heated seats if you like that stuff... and the built in control buttons.

Hey man, love the videos! Just wanted to let you know that you dont want to use 4 auto off road. Chevys use a clutch very similar to a dif lsd in their 4w auto. It will wear out well before its expected lifetime if you use it off road. I only use it off road when I'm not expecting to spin so it only kicks in when it's a emergency and when its snowing bit with a mix of dry and icy patches. 4wh can be used the whole time off road as long as the ground is loose enough to allow the tires to spin independent of eachother.
@420motors
@420motors 4 жыл бұрын
Yea. That’s why I encourage 2wd. All newcomers try to max out in 4hi at first. Then we learn to have fun at slower speeds. You got some Solid advice regardless of vehicle, just preserve it. If you don’t need 4high don’t use it. Constantly getting stuck at Pismo cause even try to use 2wd in the sand

@420motors
@420motors 4 жыл бұрын
Na diesel is probably what you want if your over-landing. It’s not gutless but yea slower than the gas. Honestly if your modding it for overlanding and decide to do some desert running, you might be a little heavy to be romping fast anyway. So diesel take off power might still be well match if your overweight

If this truck is taken care doing some over landing more than driving fast- in general - do you think these will hold their value and reliability when you start pushing 150k miles? I want to get a truck and keep it. Love Chevy, these trucks didn’t have such a hot rating Colorados prior to 2019 - but of course the ratings aren’t always right either. It would be between this or a Tacoma TRD off road. Which doesn’t have locking diff in the front, but the Tacoma is known for reliability.. we really haven’t had enough time to tell what modern trucks will bring as far as longevity, so at this point it’s just speculation. Thanks for the video great info thanks for any knowledge
@420motors
@420motors 3 жыл бұрын
Yes that’s completely accurate. We have 70k very hard miles on ours and I fully expect to outperform the Tacoma’s for longevity. But like you say that hasn’t been proven yet too soon to tell.
