Old thread. Sorry but I have bumped into this vid several times and and now just thought I should chime in. Pop the locking latch up then you use your index finger at the very end of the claspe from there it's a simple pull up. Yes at first it's a bit tough but it does losen up over time. It's a precision fit. I think you botched the band fit... Both straps will likely end up being the same length of you do it properly. You start with the fine adjust in the middle pin holes then start cutting each only one post off at a time. Test it after each cut. It'll work just fine. If your wrist is way small then this type of claspe is not right for you. Thanks for doing reviews. It's an excellent band and claspe.

I was able to size mine to fit perfectly onto a Garmin Fenix 6. I used the original strap as a template to trim the Zuludiver strap to the same length. I left a bit extra on one side for if I ever need to extend it later.

You can use the following math to determine, in theory, if this strap would fit your application. This assumes that sizing the clasp to the middle pin puts the clasp in the middle of the underside of your wrist. 1) Convert your wrist size to mm 2) Subtract 135 3) The remainder = the max. spring pin to spring pin watch length that will fit on your wrist Eg. for a 7” wrist 1) 7” = 177.8 mm 2) 177.8 - 135 = 42.8 3) The max. spring to spring pin distance that would fit is 42.8 mm Eg. For 6.75” wrist 1) 6.75” = 171.45 mm 2) 171.45 - 135 = 36.45 mm 3) The max. spring to spring pin distance that would fit is 36.45 mm However, remember that this is in theory. It assumes the following: A) Sizing to the middle hole in the clasp puts the clasp in the middle of the underside of your wrist B) The measurements taken by “Ron in Napa” in his comments are correct C) The resistance to bending inherent in the thickness and material of this strap MIGHT require some relief slits to get a good fit as done by “Squinky Gordon” in his comments. I assume he cut them on the underside of the straps, so at to not be visible when the watch is being worn. Keeping in mind that Squinky did not provide any specifics regarding placement, number, width or depth of his relief slits. Without pictures it is difficult to know if his results would be aesthetically pleasing to your taste. Because the resistance to bending is exacerbated by the tighter radius you’re asking the strap to adhere to, my guess is that, without cutting slits into it, the minimum wrist size that this strap would work with properly would be around 8”. That’s just a guess. What’s needed is more specific information from more people of different wrist measurements. What would be even better, would be if one of the watch forums has addressed this issue with commentary and pictures. Looks like there is room in the market for a very similar strap, but thinner (or of a more flexible material) and with more adjustment holes. Otherwise of the same quality plus a tool-less adjustable clasp. I see that need expressed by people over and over again.

All you have to do is pull the back of the clasp and it opens right up. I used a leatherman to trim it. I scored it with the saw blade a few times and then used the knife itself to finish the cut and got a perfect fit with the clasp centered on the bottom of my 7" wrist. I personally think the strap is great!

The pressure needed to open the clasp varies with the tolerances of the clasp. Very minor variations can affect the pressure quite a bit, so not all examples are the same. Yours could be quite different than others. How many sizing holes were remaining on the straps R & L sides after cutting? What does your watch measure lengthways from spring pin to spring pin? Which micro adjustment hole gave you a correct fit? Too bad you have no pictures.

@@orwellknew9112 I can't imagine the pressure needed to open the clasp on this particular strap can vary that much, between different examples, unless they changed the dimensions of it between batches that were manufactured previously. I can't see any particular wrist size measurably increasing the pressure needed to open the clasp. The lug to lug measurement of the watch it's on is 46mm. The adjustment is in the next to last hole of the expanding end of the clasp. Yes, unfortunately photos can't be uploaded onto this platform.

Thanks for the review. I think it would work for me since I have 8 1/2" gorilla wrists. Have you tried soaking it in scalding hot water and then trying to form it? I did that with a Citizen diver band and it worked decent.

I think you might be wearing the strap upside down,but also maybe the zuludiver clasp itself is too long. Im ordering a bonetto cinturini and the clasp design is much shorter.Also if you want the rubber to fit better put it in a coffee cup and put boiling water in it for ten minutes to shape the rubber to form your wrist better,alot of people do this with thick rubber diving straps.Thanks for your video!

Any rubber strap with that thickness will give that problem, why they make it so thick?? I love the watchgecko/zuludiver finish and material quality, but I do agree they make way too long strap, yes I get it they are diver strap that you could fit ontop your wetsuit but how much more milimeters will that add? 95% of buyers are not divers. I really hope they will create shorter versions of their straps. I have a gorgeous 22mm tropic from them that I could never use because the watch itself is big, that + the very long strap = unusable

Returning mine to ZULU today. The strap is not ordinary; it is way too long, probably designed to be worn on the outside of a wetsuit sleeve. My dive watch is 49mm from spring-pin-to-spring-pin. This ZULU has two straps, each identical to the other with a minimum length of 54mm each, (maximum 82.7mm). The length of the bridge from the buckle pin to the nearest micro-adjustment is 20mm, (maximum 33.4mm). All of that added together (54+49+54+20=177mm) is 6.97 inches at the smallest with no room to go tighter when set at the nearest micro adjustment. To wear the watch and band comfortably without the end of the clasp hanging over the edge, my wrist can be no smaller than (190mm) 7.5 inches. My wrist is 7.0 inches (178mm). I might be able to wear the band uncomfortably at the absolute shortest cut and at the very tightest micro-adjustment, but the clasp will be exposed along the outside edge to catch onto clothes and objects. And further, I would have no ability to make it even slightly tighter. Taken the other way, with a maximum length of 82.7mm each strap, a spring-pin-to-spring-pin of 49mm, and a bridge length of 33.4mm, the maximum length is (82.7+49+82.7+33.4=247.8mm) 9.75 inches with my watch installed. One can see how I came to the conclusion that it was not meant to be worn directly on the wrist. Had ZULU Diver put one extra hole adjustment on each strap (or more appropriately, two on one strap), the minimum length with the watch installed would be (162.6mm) 6.4 inches. For a 7.0 inch wrist, the straps would be cut as short as possible with the micro-adjustment in the center position. I would have been willing to keep it. The best thing they could have done is to have designed it with adjustment holes along the entire length, from the spring pin to the buckle. Considering how many people have wrists smaller than 7.5 inches, I would be willing to gamble that ZULU Diver gets a lot of disappointed customers. If on their website, they placed a notification that (1) the strap is sized to be worn on the outside of a wetsuit sleeve, (2) it will likely not fit wrists smaller than 7.5 inches with an ordinary watch installed, and (3) min length = 128mm plus the watch; max length = 199mm plus the watch, then I would have appreciated the honesty. Better yet, without any doubt, had they added more adjustment holes, I would have kept it.
@RonInNapa
@RonInNapa 2 жыл бұрын
To be fair, I just read the whole thing. The Zulu Diver website states that the minimum length is 140mm and the maximum length is 205mm. I measured 128mm minimum length and 199mm maximum, but I concede to their values. The pin-to-pin on my watch measures 49mm, so adding them together (140+49= 189mm) is 7.44 inches. If I had a watch with a case around 35mm and a pin-to-pin length of 38mm, then it would just barely fit me at the absolute shortest positions, but it would be uncomfortable. If I had a watch with a case smaller than 25mm, then the strap would fit me comfortably.

Here is the follow-up on the return. I reside in the US, just south of Oregon. The receipt from both Watch Gecko and Zulu Diver have a mailing address in Oregon, USA. I understand that there is also a location in Florida, USA. That would explain why my original mailing was so fast. Perhaps the origin was within the United States. I called for a return, just as they asked in the paperwork. Zulu Diver insisted I mail the item to the UK, and not back to Oregon or Florida. The original price of the strap was $46. If I return it to the Oregon address, it would cost me about $3.00 USD. Because I had to mail it back to the UK, shipping was $17.85 USD by lowest possible shipping. Here is my advice: Do Not Buy From These Companies. Zulu Diver and their sister company, Watch Gecko, apparently do not realize that they are not the only watch band sellers in the world. As a disincentive to return items, you will either pay an exorbitant price to return the item to a distant location, or you will simply keep the unwanted purchase. I would not be surprised if UK residents were forced to send their returns to the United States for a refund to discourage returns. So it cost me almost $20 to examine an item and then return it.

That strap is too big for your wrist my friend. Obviously the clasp has a defect or is at the end of the tolerance range but the fitting? That's gonna be fine for people with bigger wrists. Personally I'm not a fan of straps with a uniform thickness, I think from a comfort standpoint, a strap with a thickness that reduces towards the clasp is always going to feel better on wrist.

Something I've found that works pretty well, when changing straps, is to use a tiny sliver of either masking, or scotch tape on the back of each of the lugs. Just make sure it covers the entire area you want to protect; and it's also a good idea to make sure it fully adheres to the metal by using your fingernail like a squeegee to go over it.

True, but you can have a small circumference but still chunky wrist, hence why they go that small but yours will never fit as you cant get it tight enough to form properly on you, my Wife has the same issue when she tries to wear mine. I guess you need a fuller wrist to hold the strap tight enough to from a round shape instead of a rectangular one? I have quite chunky wrist but even i have found this issue with some of the thick rubber straps, they need a round wrist whatever the size 👍
