Nice video. I got an 02 J3 (US version) and I've done some of the same mods to it, too. Great bike, totally loving it! Going to get that brembo master cylinder and a quick turn throttle for this summer, also :)

Quick action throttle is awesome. I have a bad wrist and that the only reason but it does make a difference. I purchased a universal 22.2mm fixing Brembo rcs19 corta corsa which works excellent. Used the standard resevoir, just needed a new connecting tube. Not sure if they do them in US but I use SBS fast road/track pads and they are superb. Even when riding slow have great heat up time and bite.

Hi. Thanks for that. Alot learnt from the first couple of years owning the Yellow J2. Wasn't aware the black/silver was a special colour. Thought they just done green, red black/silver as the three colour choices that year. I'm working on a video that has the tune up magazine article in it. It's a long one, may have to do it in two parts. These are totally underestimated bikes. Fantastic comfort, sporty and quick enough. Thanks again.

Thanks for the comment. These old zx6r's are so underrated. Tune them right and there is plenty of power. I'd say defo get a brembo rcs19, makes a huge difference with sbs trackday-fast road and braided hoses, especially if for a track bike. Also go -1 front and +2 rear for track. Unfortunately you will need a healtech speedo healer but we'll worth the extra acceleration.

@kawasakizx6r813
@kawasakizx6r813 Күн бұрын
@Dobzie795 Hi. Thanks for watching and the question. Actually this is a very good question where people get manufactured date and registration date mixed up. Plus the UK market and US. So I'm UK and can really only comment on this as the US ZX6R line is different. So first off this is a carb model A1P registered in February 2003. Bikes manufactured and registration dates can be very different. You can have a 2008 registered J1 that was made in 2001. It will have an 08 English plate on it but it will still be a J1 carburettor bike. So 98-02 manufactured bikes go like this. G1-G2 98 to 00. J1-J2 00 to 02. A1P 02 to 03. You have to remember that in the motor world the year starts and finishes on the 1st of March when the new registration use to come out. Now they come out twice a year but build date is normally 1st of March to the 28th February. Kawasaki released their new looking ZX6R B1H which is the first zx6r fuel injected bike on the 1st of March 2003 and that's the bike google says is fuel injected. The A1P in UK and Europe wasn't released in America I don't believe. Basically, Suzuki, Yamaha and Honda were kicking Kawasaki arse in all the magazines as the zx6r hadn't really been massively changed since 98. Yes it had more power, revised suspension, longer swingarm, change of bodywork, but basically the same guts as the 98 model and the other manufactures had the R6, gsxr600 and cbr600f and cbr600rr which on paper was a mich better bike if that's what you were looking for. Although the zx6r had become a trusted all rounder Kawasaki knew they had to do something. They had the B1H in the pipeline but couldn't get it ready for 2002 so they done a revision on the J2. 44 improvements, mainly the 636cc engine, internals, larger carb and internals, internal work on the suspension and a change of colour. Thus the A1P was born for a year. I've ridden most bikes from that era. My mate has a cbr600, I had an R1 in 2003 and teat road loads of bike but had never ridden the zx6r. Honestly I think these are the most amazing bikes for real world. Plenty quick enough, a little heavier than alot but I prefer that so I'm not blown all over the road. With some adjustments to suit personal taste/style of riding they are fantastic. Hope that helps and again thanks for watching. If you haven't watched my 4 year review of my Yellow J2 it's worth the time. Cheers Tim.

What kind of money are these worth now? I have a green 1 with 9k miles it’s mint aftermarket exhaust

Hi. This is an extremely hard question to answer, as your see many bikes advertised for strong money, however look again in 6 months time and the bikes are still for sale. It is a question of how much you wanna sell the bike and how quickly. I am referring to the UK market as in the US they sell for alot more. So if I had a mint 9K green A1P and wanted to sell it I personally wouldn't want to let it go for less than £3000. Unfortunately not all see the value in these bikes. You could advertise it for £3295 and go from there. I think alot will offer £2500. To put it into perspective, I paid £4195 (2020) for this completely standard A1P with 1900 miles on the clock from a collector. I thought long and hard over two weeks to think if that is to much money. The thing is I've not seen another one since with that low mileage and mint condition. I can honestly say I don't regret it at all. I personally looked at it as a brand new bike that I knew fitted me. I had the full Maxton suspension to swap over from the J2 and made quite alot of personal upgrades which modernise's the bike in all the right area, Suspension, handling, braking and performance. The best A1P currently on sale in the UK, imo, is a complete standard, as new, mint, grey, with 4000 miles on the clock from a dealer and priced at £4995 on Autotrader. Personally if I had the money I'd rip their arm off for it as I love these bikes and they are getting harder to find. Hope that helps and thanks for watching. Tim.

So what is the differences between the 2002 J3 and the A1P?
@kawasakizx6r813
@kawasakizx6r813 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. So as far as I know they are the same bike just people call them different things. J1-J2 is only colour difference then in 02 they launched the A1P. I'm unsure if it's a US, UK thing either. In the UK I've known them as A1P models but as I say I'm sure they are the same just different references.

@@kawasakizx6r813 ok, so I have a 2002 J3 with the 599cc(600) and I am in the US. Do all the A1Ps have the 636 or do some have the 599? I thought I have read somewhere that only some of the later built 2002 models came with the 636. And the only way to tell was to run the engine ID numbers. I could be mistaken tho.
@kawasakizx6r813
@kawasakizx6r813 2 жыл бұрын
All A1P's have 636cc engines and the decal on the fairing will say 636. In the UK they came in green, red and silver/black. You could have a late registration J2 because if its a 600cc engine it's a j1 or j2 in the UK.

Looks like Kawasaki built different models for the Uk/European Market and the US. The A1P was made between 02-03 in the UK then they has the totally redesign B1H fuel injection from 03.

Very good video and very informative, credit to you for what you have done on this beautiful machine. I have the same bike/colour from new 02 Aug. and just turned eight thousand on the clock, all original the only ad ons are double bubble smocked, hugger, fender extension and magnetic oil tap. Never seen rain (one small blast) and never dropped. I do suffer from carpal tunnel and cracked my scaffoid bone with mxs way back. Really enjoyed your vid. 👍

Thanks so much for the feedback. Not done many videos at mo, or as much as I wanted. If I'd of know these bikes were that good I'd of bought it back in 02-03 new instead of my R1. It's a much better around bike and you don't need a thousand cc imo. With the sprocket changes it goes to 130mph very fast and that's all you need and obviously on private road or race track. Absolutely love these bikes. Ive now started using my J2 for track (3-4 times a year depending on health) and the A1P for special.Id like to sell the J2 and just have the A1P, problem is if you throw the A1P down the track you cant really replace it. Mines done 4000 miles and rides like a brand new bike. The J2 rides really well but as soon as you jump off that and onto the A1P its night and day. Just everything tighter and smoother. The quick action throttle makes a big difference to my wrist. Hardly have to turn it. I'll try and do some service stuff for people. Hope you keep watching and thanks again Tim.

@@kawasakizx6r813Hi Tim I will definitely be watching your future uploads, and I've just subscribed. This is rare model and worth keeping, top speed gave me over 165 and if you can believe it, there was a bit more, easily pass a z1000 first gen. because of the fairing etc. The a1p is the lightest of them all and according to my K book 174kg dry and 188 wet if you check the link below: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGGzeZ6jm6yFpc0 If you tuck in well she's extremely steady at top speed (only three times in my case) When they introduced gen5 they changed the riding position more aggressive and nimble and bad at top end, smaller fairing and ram air hole and fuel injection.... result 150 unsteady mph. I've been riding since the early seventies all sorts 😱 good and bad, now I go out and enjoy my ride with my learner Mrs in her early fifties with her little gsxs around the north west. I was tempted to do a track day through the years but I've bought her to keep as it is rather than looking for parts with a sore collarbone 😉 Keep up the good work Costas
