Not quite ZZ Top level - but that's a really high bar - so I have to give it a 9. 😀

All 3 members were born in 1949. Billy Gibbons and drummer Frank Beard are 75. Bassist Dusty Hill died in 2021, when he was 72. Ironically, Frank Beard is the one without a long beard.

The song is referring to what was known as the Chicken Ranch, a brothel that operated in Texas until shortly after this song came out. It is also the brothel that was the inspiration for “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”. The brothel currently exists in Nevada in the town of Pahrump.

ZZ Top’s ‘Cheap Sunglasses’ is arguably the coolest song ever written! The album recording is a sublime jam..aw & the way it beautifully falls apart at the end lets you know they were improving & hanging on for dear life!

I got my self my dream car 🚗 just last weekend, My journey with her started after my best friend came back from New York and saw me suffering in dept then told me about her and how to change my life through her. Anna K. Sanford is the kind of person one needs in his or her life! I got a home, a good wife, and a beautiful daughter. Note!:: this is not a promotion but me trying to make a point that no matter what happens, always have faith and keep living!!

My very first concert was in Lincoln, NE 1978. ZZ Top and warm-up band Triumph. Tickets $8. T-shirts $12 🤑🤑 On an interview with Dan Rather, when asked how he was doing, Billy said, "If I were any better, I'd be twins"😎 RIP Dusty Hill 😇

I am envious of those who attended the live concerts of this monstrous band and who received that positive energy that these (guys) give by magically playing with simplicity and modesty their guitars supported by an excellent drummer. Many bands should take an example from them. With happiness therefore I toast with an Italian honey grappa 🌺

You should always listen to the original version first. Every time.

I disagree - but you should always make a point to listen to the original, especially when you hear a live version first.

This is a great live version, but Biss I hope you treat yourself to the original studio version from the 70s. Whatever vehicle you drive go out for a ride and crank it up as loud as you can handle it. Their youthful energy was amazing! Guaranteed goosebumps!

I met up with Uncle Billy in Brandon Mississippi amphitheater the day after Dusty Hill the bass player died..The guitar tech filled in for Dusty. It was a good emotional concert. There was Dustys microphone with his hat hanging off it in Dustys spot. I grew up with hearing them jamming in the living room at 3am in the 70s with all my uncles and dad they would jam for days at a time. Rip Dad and Dusty

There is something to really appreciate from band members who are so familiar with a song that they have been doing for around (30-40 years at the time of filming) that they can basically play it blindfolded and yet able to read each other so well that they can just improvise on the fly (such as the pause) at the same time. With La Grange being one of ZZ Top's true "hits", being a fan favorite at every concert, constantly being requested at interviews, discussed countless times with other musicians on their shows/podcasts.... well, is there ANY wonder how Frank can bang those drums with an almost bored look, Dusty hanging back just chilling out before hitting you with the base-line and Billy taking his time with tempos and lyrics? In short, this is a performance where you see a band actually enjoying the time TOGETHER as friends more than musicians.

Ugh... why is everyone using this recent video? The band is very old, the tempo is slower, the voices are fragile... this is not what y'all should be reacting to the first time around. It doesn't give you the best version of ZZTop. Look for something from the 70s or 80s to listen to. That's their prime time peak performance era. This video is just sadness. Like watching Madonna stumble across stage when she should be collecting social security checks.

20 more videos of ZZ Top, please! GREAT reaction! This is one of my favorite reactions of yours. If you want to slow it down, 'Rough Boy' off their Afterburner album, and see if you can hear the Depeche Mode influence...if you want an uptempo boogie that might bring about a blush or two, 'Tube Snake Boogie' and 'Pearl Necklace'...if you want a deeper bluesy sound, 'Just Got Paid' and 'Waitin on the Bus/Jesus just left Chicago', and then there is Billy's rendition of the rap song 'Gots to Get Paid'.

Biss - those "haw haw haw" that Billy is singing are an homage to the great John Lee Hooker tune "Boom Boom" - also, Jimi Hendrix famously said in an old interview something along the lines of "there's this cat in Texas named Billy Gibbons who's gonna be huge"

You could check out songs from the Live From Daryl's House episodes. The idea is that Daryl Hall invites musicians to his place to play a few of their songs with the house band he has there.
