The only thing I didn’t like about this movie is that he loses.

Had no idea of this film and hate it went under the radar. I guess indie films even with stars struggle to gain recognition.

Rewatching this in my 40's. It feels like the most realistic portrayal of coming if age in the late 90's/early auguts. There was no huge party that made you a who's who of highschool, or a bet to lose your virginity while turning the school wallflower into prom queen, or any spectacular last hurrah before college. We were just a bunch of awkward kids trying to get through the day as best we could.

Hoffman one of the best actors I've ever seen in my life. My God he was incredible. Saw that film where he played that infamous cult leader, it was just insane how good he was.

I was fortunate to not have known anything about Christopher Walken when I saw him play a main character in the film, The Comfort of Strangers. Totally fascinating! I thought this was a unique character to that particular script (by Harold Pinter). But then I found out later, that charcuterie was not a Harold Pinter creation, rather that was Christopher Walken doing Christopher Walken. Which is okay. Pays the bills.

Tom Cruise plays a good psychopath because he IS a psychopath. Seriously, the guys behavior mannerisms etc. Straight psychopathy. But in all honesty, I believe it gives him an edge in acting.

You missed the point with the Pulp Fiction monologue. The first section is a rehearsed, word for word message from a father to his son, delivered by a loyal friend and cellmate. It is repeated in the tone and emotional content in which Butch's dad delivered it, and delivers the state of mind, speaking style and astute nature of the father. The second part is Walken's character being himself; slightly cruder, less articulate, but no less a loyal and trustworthy comrade.

Amazing... Philip Seymore Hoffman was amazing. Loved it. Feel like crying. I know it seems out of place, but I couldn't help thinking about his role as Owen Davien in Mission Impossible III. In it, he took the art of playing the villain to a rare level. Certainly, a level not often achieved in any of the Mission Impossible films. A level almost never achieved in any of the other films of the action/suspense genre. What he did, which I think so few actors are capable of doing, was to make me forget, in spite of the unbalance weight in number of action, adventure, thriller, suspense, mystery films I've ever seen, was to make me forget that the protagonist was going to succeed.

Ive been alone for 5 years now. I don't have anyone, I live alone, eat alone, sleep alone. I am so desperate for human connection but I am so broken I can't even feel anything anymore. I want to get better, I want to be part of this world but I feel its just not for me. I don't know how much of this I can actually put up with. The world does not want me here anymore.

Synecdoche, New York is one of my all time favorite films and his performance in it is still to me, one of the most layered and challenging performances I've ever seen. The movie and the character he plays goes through so many different phases, so many different tones and moods and themes, and he somehow makes it look effotrless. It is one of those pieces of art that reminds you why art is such a vitally important thing for our species to continue making, and the movie is wonderful but elevated to an even greater level by his performance. And that's just ONE of his performances. RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman, you poured your heart and soul into you work and it showed.

Despite being funny, relatable, self deprecating, well researched, lord of chaos, more than that he has genuine connection with his guests. It’s night and day difference versus Fallon and Kimmel. The only one who comes close is Sean Evans and Conan made sure to tell him that.
