wish i had come across this video earlier! i had to play this excerpt for a couple of college prescreens, especially challenging to get a nice low tone with not-so-great microphone.

I've had the pleasure of accompanying some hornists who played this concerto, and it's quite a fine piece of music, and very difficult for the soloist. Ms. Tryon performed this brilliantly.

This is absolutely fantastic. I want to learn it. I like this solo like I like my steaks, very well done.

What is that thing attached on the F branch? On my small screen it looks like a tiny octopus.

It is a small octopus. I like the animal and found a way to attach it to my horn

Is that Adam Wolf piece available for purchase anywhere yet? Or will they only be released when he finishes all of them?
@DeniseTryon Жыл бұрын
I don't know. You'll have to ask Adam about that. Sorry.

I like to belt this out on my old D horn. It has a huge 14" bell, came with a very large mouthpiece with an oversized shank and a 20.5 mm cup. It's a very old German-made horn, don't know who the maker was. It's a cinch he's dead by now.

Hey, I’m starting to audition for bands and I find exerts like this in E-flat, do I need to transpose it to F or play it in E-flat
@DeniseTryon Жыл бұрын
You need to transpose it to Eb, so read it down a whole step from where it is written.

Very enjoyable to watch. I know a great platform called Gan Jing World, your videos can be shared there, and reach more viewers. If it's okie, I can repost your videos on that platform, without changing any period information. How do you feel?

Wow! Was looking for something to help with this excerpt and this is wonderful! My daughter (16 years old) gets her first opportunity to play with our local Symphony next week and she's Horn 7 which also includes this excerpt. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. You've been a big help.

For this excerpt, is dotted quarter = 90BPM good or should I think about this in 2 since it’s 6/8?
@DeniseTryon3 жыл бұрын
The tempo Beethoven wrote is dotted quarter = 104, and even though some of his tempos are really off, this one is good. And if you are thinking dotted quarter, you are thinking of this is 2. There are 2 dotted quarters per measure. I hope this helps.
