Hahahaha I had almost forgotten about the tiny Kanna. I know you've got a full set of tiny tools... And I've seen the tiny furniture in the old videos... So time for a tiny Japanese house build? Desk is looking great - love this video format.

It's not yet a full set, still a lot to get and money to spend :)) Those tiny furniture my wife found at some antique/flee markets, they are nice for props :) Thanks!

That fit from 8:00-8:20 made me so excited. Well done man. Continuing to show us that large space and endless tools do not make the craftsman, its the patience and determination.

Thanks! A pity I have a very small space there in the balcony, I would have placed the camera in more interesting positions when assembly but no space for tripod and co :))

You scared me a few times driving in those drawbore pegs that you might ding the project parts underneath. Very satisfying to see this start to come together. Also, 1. I love your chamfer plane 2. I love your tiny japanese plane 3. The logical conclusion is that you need to make a miniature chamfer plane for chamfering endgrain
@AdrianPreda4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I didn't show at camera, but I was holding the other side of the leg assemby with my knee up in the air :)) Indeed, I need to make a mini chamfer plane, or adapt an existing miniature one, is very useful mainly on small pieces, with the big one I can hit the corners

Hey bro, your work inspires not to use nails and has done everything in an artisan way with assemblies. I want to see the cover already. Greetings from Hidalgo. Mexico.

Thanks! Sadly for the top I have to disappoint, I plan to use butterfly/sliding dovetails but because I wasn't confident from the beginning to make sliding dovetails on the rails to push the top all the way now I must screw the dovetail pins on the rails and make slots in the top :)

I just love your work. Can you please do a video to recommend a minimum wood working tool set for a beginner. You obviously have a lot of tools and a lot of skill, and as a beginner I really don't know which tools I really need. I already have a small set of tools, for me the planes are the big unknown. I have a cheap metal one and some old restaured ones. But I'd like to buy one like yours. Thanks!
@AdrianPreda4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don't know if there is a minimum/first tool set to get. I always tell people, and this is how I started, is to choose a project, see how it's made, analyze every stage (yt, books, etc), and get the tools needed for that project. Then move on to another one, more complex, get new tools, and so on. It's a pithole in the end :) As for plane, it is better to invest in a premium one for your main plane. It is more reliable made, flat sole, squared etc you just need to sharpen the blade and use it. In the vid description is a list of my tools
@horiaatanasiu31734 жыл бұрын
@@AdrianPreda can you recommend a plane size and a producer? It will be my main plane for small projects around the house for life. I have good stones and ok skills for sharpening. I'm having ok results with my cheap plane.

@@AdrianPreda - Just got lff the phone with him, he said the 70cm plank was twisting too much, so we settled on getting 2x35 instead and doing something so that they both can get fastened to the steel legs. It's gonna be great I think. This also allows for a gab between the two for keyboard and mouse wires. :D

I'm re-watching this because I just finished a desk for my son and I am starting one for my wife but I am planning drawers similar to yours this means That the legs and side rails probably have to be the same thickness. Meaning thinner than I would have liked. I'll probably go with 1". How is your not glued desk standing the test of time? My desks will be getting plenty of use so I need to make sure they are stable. Just curious as I used your build to inspire mine. Almost a year since you posted this video.
@AdrianPreda3 жыл бұрын
I would probably use glue. Mine I don't use it so intensively, it has some movement that glue will cancel or reduce it if used, but I go like so now. One day maybe I will disaasmble and glue it too

Thank you Ricardo! No, just on internet and some books. I did electrical/mechanical engineering as study, and worked in ship building, engineering and I even sailed for a while, all these in my 20-32 years span. Now, just woodworking :)
