the thing about reverend insanity is that fang yuan is not really a villain, in my opinion a villain is someone that mostly does evil things just because and thats what i thought the mc was during the first part of the story but later on you realise fang yuan is different he lived for much longer than what we normal people have and hence its natural for there to be a difference on the perspective of whats morally correct and whats not this is without mentioning that the gu world is a very extreme place where everyone is scheming and without absolute power you will always be a pawn to those that have it. furthermore the author states multiple times that if fang yuan can achieve his goals by being rightous and by helping people then he would do that in the very next second. the thing i like about his character is how in contrast to most main characters and other people in the same story he isnt someone thats taken over by any particular emotion he can act greedy but never goes too far if it doesnt benefit him he can rejoice or feel pressured but immediately endures to keep pursuing his goal which has been shown to him on multiple encounters throughout the story is impossible but he still preseveres, and he does all of this without his character being shallow or one dimensional. and the thing i was most captivated by was when on multiple instances he was in a near death situation with almost no hope but fang yuan never regretted or felt sad about anything he had done in his life he states that even if eternal life is not real and he dies before being close to it in the very next moment he would still feel no regrets as he lived his life the way he wanted to whilst being true to himself. i love this novel.

The so called "boring beginning" is actually a lot more important throughout the whole story. You have to remember every detailing since nothing is useless information, like the various secret organisations that are introduced, the sequence pathways, classification of mystical items, potion ingredients, ritual ingredients, ritual incantations, honorific names, etc. which is clearly not everybody's cup of tea. Also, please share your thoughts on the first volume.

Before reading reverend insanity, I recommend reading renegade immortal and warlock of the magus world. They are shorter and easy to read compared to reverend insanity.

The fights start from vol 2 and then ramp up from vol 3-4 The series true plot starts at end of vol 5 and with vol 6. Most of the initial volumes are set up but you’ll get plenty of epic moments and fights, and trust me the build up is IMPORTANT. Many main antagonists will be introduced off hand via random encounters/name drops. Some details that are important to future plot twists and insane foreshadowing will be passed off as basic exposition. Literally the best plot twist in the novel (and my favorite plot twist of all time) is first foreshadowed by the most forgettable moment in the story but then when the plot twist hits, you remember it and feel stupid for not suspecting something earlier

If you're really a no life manhua guy, you need to get into The Ravages of Time, it is simply the best manga/manhwa/manhua story of all time. The world needs more people reading and talking about ROT.

The world building and characters are memorable, not something you would usually see in "web novels" The 22 pathway sequences are so intriguing anyone reading is unknowingly searching for them. Well, my friend who liked watching shounen anime, asked me for manhwa recommendation. I risked it by telling him to read GOSU. The story is impeccable and the art too is phenomenal for my taste, but I can see why some may not like it. Good thing it worked, he loved it. And for his first webnovel, I told him to read Throne of the Magical Arcana, as he would like that science stuff!

His newest novel is really good. There is a scene at chapter 260 or something which gave me the kind of goosebumps I last got only in RI. The volume 1 ending was peak too. Worth checking out if you want something to scratch the RI itch.
