So often we get laser-focused on how we will cope when.......I have to drive, go to the party, go to work etc.
But will miss a huge opportunity to practice towards recovery.
It is just as important to practice with all your anxious thinking before you have to face and experience a triggering scenario.

I think the reason behind these long slow-burn anxiety episodes, is the subconscious fear of a massive panic attack where one thinks that they'll end up in complete and utter terror, completely "lose control" of themselves and not be able to cope. It's a subconscious fear, even though you may know for a fact that it won't happen.

And that's why it's so important to practice with these lead up thoughts - remember it's not any of these thoughts such as 'losing control' that we fear, we fear how the adrenaline makes us feel when we have these thoughts.

I am going through this right now. I have been anxious for days about going to Dr. And getting bp taken. Reducing anxiety meds which has been going fairly well until this anticapation of appt. This morning full blown almost panic. Thank you for this reminder. I Love Claire Weekes.

Its so hard to know if the thoughts are to be let go of my letting go of the tension, i find nearly every thought about anything makes me tense and brace, like a hair trigger. I guess unless its a tiger then treat the same ?

Hi Sam I have big tension what if my negative thoughts come true how to get rid just to imagine the thoughts and practice ?

Hi Karan - we don't have to imagine the thoughts, just allow and practice when they come up. Remember, it's not the content of your thoughts that make you scared, it's the adrenaline that comes with them.

Hi Sam. I have many of those as you would imagine, but they dont really cause me anxiety. They just pop up and go away. The majority of the times, anyway. Sometimes they just trigger some ruminating without anything else. I am guessing those ones that dont cause a reaction should just be ignored ?

Hi Damir sometimes ignoring can mean we subtly resist or brace, sometimes it means we allow, then ignore the thoughts. What do you think you are doing?

My starting point with ALL clients is to try the methods and tools from my videos regardless of what medication they are taking. Once you have some success with the tools it can then be easier to make decisions about medication in consultation with your doctor.
