Cool! Do you think that a center lock brake disk would fit to those same splines where roller brake set sits? I like your knife by the way, it looks like Finnish puukko, the blade and handle shape.

They look similar, but I doubt they will fit. I believe the Knife is a copy of a German Herder model. Very popular around here.

Hi I know the video is not from today. I was wondering if you managed to find an alternative to the vodeo pad editor? Or maybe find some solution in the settings where you use the gpu instead of the cpu. As I recall there used to be a configuration option. My problem is that I bought the program a long time ago and I had no problems with it at that time, but I had 30% max CPU usage. But now it spins my processor 100% which heats it up from 60 degrees C to 75 degrees C with 360 water cooling. This is unacceptable. I used to have a 4 core 4 thread intel i 7-4790. It had a max load of 30% of the processor at good temperatures, and I remember it was possible to transfer the export load to a nividia card. I could not find this option now. Now I have a ryzen 7 3800 X with 8 cores and 16 threads. Did you get anywhere with your problem? I would also export large files but this is a joke category. By the way, the video pad developers are using barefaced marketing tools. Because I have old version 5.03 but I have to specifically unplug the net because it installs to the latest one and forces me to buy it. It's in the shameless marketing category, and for me the program is not worth enough to buy the latest version. Thank you in advance for your reply.

I never found out why Videopad is using so much CPU cycles. But at some point after I made this video they moved to 64bit. And I've been stuck on version 10.16 ever since. This version is also using my nvidia card, and it works reasonably quick. Although, I think Videopad is still using too much CPU. At some point, I hope to learn how to edit in Kdenlive (open source/linux) and stop using Videopad.

😊Got similar problem, but with flat belts. One solution is to cut grooves to suit automotive belts. As these are part of the machine, gotta make wooden single belt pulleys with keyways. Thinking, thinking, hope it all goes away soon. Watch you instead.

After putting in WD40 i am not surprised the drum brake does not work any more. Greasing it should be done with 10 drops of thin oil if you have a drum brake, no grease. If you do not mind the brake, you have a nice option to make it work again. The little chain might work again if you loose the adjusting pin half a turn.

It's very oily because that's what Sturmey Archer hubs of old used for lubrication. They shouldn't be running IN oil, but they should be running WITH oil, adding a tea spoon every so often should suffice. The most common problem of an A-series hub (AW, AB, etc) is the dog clutch wearing out. You don't want chipped or worn edges, that's responsible for the dreaded "no gear" between 2nd and 3rd and a lot of testicular injuries.

@11:30 Alright! The pointy bit is still there!! It is ok to do that by hand. On some tests you have to do that and pull the insert out of the thread. That's how the thread on your spindle is terminated.

Does anyone know if there SHOULD be a washer underneath the brake mechanism? I have an Union probably from 1980's or something with Sachs drum brake. In my case there WAS a washer underneath but I'm not sure if this is how it's supposed to be since I bought the bike used from someone who made some repairs that weren't necessarily very well done (e.g. bearings' balls were facing wrong side). When I put the drum brake mechanism together on the wheel without a washer it tends to cause friction on the axle and stop wheel from spinning freely. When I put the washer inside the drum brake mechanism and screw it tightly with the external nut, the wheel is spinning properly and the brake is working BUT the whole brake mechanism tightens kind of askew and not straight parallel to the wheel. I'm not sure if I can leave it this way. p.s. my brake didn't have it's own cone at all. There are only two cones on the bearings and the brake was mounted over the left bearing's cone and locknut in this way: thin washer, the brake mechanism, small spacer and normal nut.

Are these wooden shoes you are wearing? I thought wooden shoes were only sold to tourists. One thing I found helpful is to take tons of pictures when doing the disassembly. That way I can figure where the washers and spacers go when doing reassembly..especially if you start a project and can’t get back to finish it right away..
