T N subhramanyam still is a inspiration as a mathematician, if a mathematician from India did research something good even in foreign land, it's still a contribute, why we expected that he should had do something in country. and being a mathematical student, as much i seen almost every mathematics' professor is a different kind of creature, they grow differently maybe T N also grew differently and life took him on different path

7:29 - we use this commonly for kliptham - ക്ലിപ്തം 'ക്ല' it looks like a mirror of sha. It might have been evolved from they letter you showed. (Also, i find it odd to call it a letter, I think we learned it to be a sign rather than a letter)

My god! Woke up at 4:30 after messing up my GIT repository after a hectic day. By noon I was drained re-doing all the changes made since my last commit. In the noon I took a break and came across this video... My god my mind was refreshed watching the video, the voice, the explanation. Cheers to the narrator!!

Isn't the thumbnail grammatically incorrect? How can a language be proud of itself? Shouldn't it be 'why are tamizhians so proud?' and not 'why is Tamil so proud?' 😲?

now do bengal and ireland... just kidding! although the language comparison seems surface level I think this is actually a very unique take compared to bengal and ireland, which are more tied together by their opressor. ... also i loved the cute imagery that put in my head the idea of a Bengali didi and her french gf... so cutee

Thank you so much for the excellent video and the detailed discussion. It is very informative. I am disappointed only in one aspect. There is almost no discussion about the existence of Archaic or Old Tamil. It has been documented that after the Vedic Invasion of South India, Sanskrit fused with Tamil and other languages, the degree of fusion varied. Archaic Tamil pre-dates the Sangam period. Archaic Tamil was the language of the Indus Culture, Elam in Iran and Sumer in Mesopotamia. Those who want to know what happened to the Indus people, are advised to read the Rig Veda. It is the proof of the Vedic invasion. The degree of violence described in the Rig Veda should be taken note of. War and conquests determine what language will be spoken and where. The conquerors write history and destroy the languages of the enemies. This is the history of India. The Vedic Shaivites and Vaishnavites deemed it an unpardonable sin to learn Archaic Tamil. The language was banned and the people who spoke it were marginalized. The Vedic Tamils destroyed the literature of the Archaic Tamils. Only one work escaped - the Kural. Violence and force is the thrust that enforces languages on people. Generally, nobody learns the language of the conqueror out of goodwill. It has to be always forced. Tamil is a pure non-Vedic language. It has nothing to do with Hinduism. Archaic Tamil was the language of the Indus civilization. Brahvi escaped extinction. That is why anyone who speaks Tamil, Telugu, Toda, Kannada, Malayalam, Kodagu and Tulu and belongs to the caste system and follows the Hindu religion are hybrid. After the Vedic people invaded South India around c. 1000 BC, the TAMILS BECAME SLAVES AND WERE absorbed into the Vedic society. Gene studies are of little use when it comes to where wars and conquests have taken place. There will be so much of sexual permeation that genes will not matter. How far can we trace our roots upwards?
