So tired of people complaining about prices. $300 for something you use hands on for hours isn't too much, especially if you like the tactile feel of tuning a radio. I see people spends hundreds on cables, connectors, this and that, then complain about a box that works in multiple ways. No, no one has to make one of these things for $50. If so, it would probably be too light, not enough technical support or built-in software, etc. Stop complaining people. If it costs too much get out of the hobby. If you do it right, Amateur Radio and scanning can be an insanely affordable hobby. The TM-2 is so good that six years later it hasn't changed much. That means the design was decent enough to start with.

This is great - was waiting for a MacOS S/W solution. In the latest SDRConnect MacOS version - is there a way to PAN the waterfall/spectrum display, using the mouse device to grab and pan, ie. as would be done when tuning up/down the band - and as most SDR S/W implements? Using the Zoom buttons are cumbersome, and a keyboard-shortcut/pointer control would be very usable and speed up the process of tuning to a signal.

I am curious, since a topic such as direction finding can be a hot one when it comes to radio- the last Raspberry discussed seems a perfect candidate- thinking such application as TDOA....where sinal between the 2 receiving antenas could be viewed overlayed and having a max hold view of the frequencies. This would strongly compel me in purchasing 1 if not 2 where some thing like incorporating a clock and synching the devices....but, on brief search, nothing? Maybe the device isn't suited in some way to no be able to function as direction finder? The specs- the ultimate 1 being: the device having the 2 separate antenna inputs- sounds like just the right thing to do job...maybe I am missing something here.....again, i ran some basic searches and no such use...?
@SDRplayRSP
@SDRplayRSP Ай бұрын
Direction finding is not something we have developed. Something may be possible with the RSPduo. If you want to time and phase synchronise multiple RSPduo devices you will need to provide a) an external clock and b) a training sequence - there is a paper written by a student at Sheffield University in the UK who synchronised multiple RSP2 devices - www.sdrplay.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Time-and-phase-synchronization-with-two-RSP2s.pdf

@@SDRplayRSP USB-B was released in 1996 I’m old enough to remember that as I was in the computer printer business 20+ years. Come on there’s ZERO reason for this legacy port. Hell many printers have moved on. It’s low data throughput, low power and hazardous ZERO reason to exist in a consumer device in 2024. That said I just ordered an RSPDX R2 but rather than resist and justify, listen to feedback. I know many people that will NOT buy a device that is not USB-C. Thanks for video! I have a problem only with the last step: `./CubicSDR` (CubicSDR:16914): Gdk-ERROR **: 02:50:19.739: The program 'CubicSDR' received an X Window System error. (Details: serial 264 error_code 158 request_code 152 (GLX) minor_code 6) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) Check you can at least get some local FM broadcast stations. Make sure the SMA antenna plug has a centre pin. Ideally you should have some kind of ground or counterpoint. The next thing is electrical noise if you are trying to receive on HF frequencies. You could describe your exact set up in more detail on one of the forums to get advice from people with a similar environment: www.sdrplay.com/communitylinks - if you think there is a fault with the device then please go to www.sdrplay.com/help and follow through to create a ticket where you will get one-to-one help in verifying the problem.

@G4ABQ
@G4ABQ Ай бұрын
@@kdsf12we would need to see a screenshot of the setup to understand what settings you have, what frequencies you are looking at and most importantly what the noise floor is with that antenna. If the wire is all close to the building you might simply be coupling high levels of electrical noise from the mains wiring. Using a mains ground (apart from not being recommended for safety reasons) may be a long way from radio ground. Anything more than a 10th of a wavelength and it will act more like part of your antenna system, thereby directly coupling high levels of noise interference
@kdsf12

@@G4ABQ I have sent in a ticket. But I must say: last night was MUCH better. It does work, actually. MUCH better last night. However, this is a concern. The islets are screwed in to wood (a non-conductor) holding the wire straight to the house so I thought I would be okay. I do have a fix for this which I will do today. It's a simple fix: I have shrink tubing. I will insert that through the islets. This is just a start.
