Which way turning the screw is rich ? I was told by a motorcycle mechanic that 2.5 turns out from the needle fully in , then adjust from there. I’m not sure which way to turn the screw from the 2.5 turns. The mechanic said my Navi A/F screw setting was only 1.5 turns out from the factory, so I’m guessing other Navi’s are also set too lean from the factory. The 2.5 turns out must be a richer mix then ? Do you think getting a bigger pilot jet would help?

Great to see you finally got the video up! I'm the one that followed your Molle panel idea but used solid aluminum panels off eBay. Yikes at that 2.2lb weight limit though! That's basically like 1 flask of water (I carry a 40oz flask when I work on a food truck so that's already at the weight limit). I think Honda gives it that limit to avoid the sagging issue so it doesn't bend in to the tire, which you addressed by mentioning adding a crossbar. Price wise I think we're at about the same as the panels I got are $59.98 for a pair of panels and the Sedici bag (10L) I put on is $47.99 and the water bottle holder I got holds up to a 52oz water bottle and is like $11. I don't know if you saw but a company called Ganesha also released their own kit for an adventure style Grom (it was shown on a Grom showcase video on youtube). Any thoughts on the spoked rims that you can get?
@SpencerDesmarais
@SpencerDesmarais 10 күн бұрын
Yeah that 1kg limit is a real buzzkill if you take Hondas word on it.. Cross bar should be pretty easy to put in place and make here in the next couple weeks. I have Ganesha's body kit bookmarked from a while ago ($1500 :O ) but hadn't seen their spoked wheel sets. $582 for a set without tires is actually less than I expected them to be. 99% won't get them, but they're cool!

Hi Spencer. The Honda bags look pretty neat and you seem to have accommodated the hi exhaust successfully without spoiling the looks. Underneath the bike there are some hidden bolt holes that ppl attach rear stunt frames. Perhaps some diagonals from here to the bottom of the frames would solve the weight/sag issues. I'm new to Grom ownership. Does the gear shaft support really improve the notchy gear change. These are brilliant old men's bikes. Loving it.
@SpencerDesmarais
@SpencerDesmarais 13 күн бұрын
Good idea on the undermount points. I'll give them a look. So far they're supporting the weight better than I expected so I'm not sure if it'll even be necessary, but probably good insurance to do anyway. The shift shaft support combined with replacing the lever to a direct shifter instead of a linkage shifter definitely helped with the feel and notchiness. I will add though, it did NOT help with finding neutral and actually made it a bit worse, since it shortens the throw going into neutral and made it more finicky. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!

@@SpencerDesmarais hi Spencer, just an update. I have ordered a gear shaft support but in the meantime I have replaced the shifter linkage with a precision ball joint linkage. I now have a 90% improvement in shifting including finding neutral. I'm sure the partsa are available anywhere but I bought a linkage for an Enfield Hunter from ebay. I only used the end fittings and screwed them together with an inch of 6mm stud. Had to file one fitting so they screwed up tight in alignment. I am well pleased

Hey man I’m a new grom owner and really enjoying going through all your videos. Learning lots. But I was wondering if you ever did a follow up video to how your bike performed after the tune with exhaust and intake? I’m looking to do the same to mine but wanted to see what your experience was. Also go cougs!
@SpencerDesmarais
@SpencerDesmarais 13 күн бұрын
Hey, good question! I didn’t ever do a follow up. Mostly because i’m not sure the tune i got is the best for my situation. I’m at a little bit of elevation, 2,500ft, and I’m pretty sure the tuned ECU i got is running really rich in a lot of spots. ( I don’t think it’s the tuners fault by any means, don’t get me wrong). At least with it running rich I know my engine is in a safe spot compared to the risk of running lean with air box and exhaust mods. That being said, the tune still benefitted the bike! Much better low end acceleration, particularly at full throttle, and gained maybe a couple mph. I was a little disappointed at the top end gains but I’m chocking that up to elevation and the fact that i’m a heavier guy (230-240lbs). Go Cougs!

I got the Navi, because, and I may get some stink eyes for saying it, but the Grom seems like it is trying to be both a small city bike, and a highway bike if needed, but it does neither as well, as the Navi does as a city bike, or anything 250 or above would do as a highway bike. It IS an amazing little minimoto just for the fact that it can technically do damn near anything if you needed it to. But zooming the Navi around the city, and 50 mph or less roads is just a freaking blast. And not having to shift in city traffic is wonderful. Consider the Grom is more than twice the price, and I could literally go to my local dealership today, buy a used low mile year old Royal Enfield 600 with a warranty that they traded in for $3500. For less than six grand I can have a city bike that is fun as shit and tears up the city, and a highway bike that is larger and can effortlessly cruise at highway speeds and above. I'd rather spend the little bit of extra money to have the best of both worlds properly.

Pretty big difference, yeah. If it feels like it sinks down too much when you get on it or is extra bouncy in the rear, where it doesn’t take much force for the shock to compress, add in a few turns and see if it gets better.

When you need to replace your chain do you think you will you keep it, or will you go back to a 420, or maybe a non-x-ring chain?? I think I still prefer the Kemimoto rack since it hangs off the back of the bike rather than over the seat. I'm not that tall but I do go for rides pretty frequently and having the extra room at the back of the bike so I can choose whatever position I get to sit in still makes a difference. It does make sense to why you wouldn't want to cover the brake light but I also run the TST Integrated and its pretty bright and I haven't run in to any issues. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand now that I'm looking through Amazon, Kemimoto now has Molle side panels for the GROM. Please help me. I notice you have 3-3 adapters for your front turn signals. That way you can use blinker and running lights. For my back blinkers, I have turn signals that also turn red for brakes. Would I also need another 3-3 adapter for the back?
@SpencerDesmarais
@SpencerDesmarais 3 ай бұрын
Hey, without seeing exactly what you bought it might be hard but i’ll take my best guess. The rear turn signals are bullet connectors, not a mini 3 pin. So blue or orange (depending on the side), green, would go to two of the pins on your new one. And then whichever pin is the brake light you’d need to tap off of the brake light wire. I don’t think an off the shelf adapter will do what you’re wanting. Hope that helps, but again, it’s my best guess without seeing exactly what you have going on.
