Great video ! I'm in Texas, headed up to Illinois for Christmas for two weeks. I don't want to winterize if I don't absolutely have to. I'm in a 2025 Thor Twist 2LB Camper Van. I'm new to all of this. I have the Truma Combi but don't know how to use the furnace at all. I've tried to set the coach temp using the display but the furnace never comes on. I have the Truma Combi but don't know much about it. I set the coach temp but it never comes on. I see only a flame, thermometer and a fan icon above. I can plug it into the house I"m going to park it at while in Illinois but not sure if it's enough to keep pipes from freezing. I have never used the gray or black tanks and they are empty. Thanks for any suggestions you might have ! !

You 100% bought this for the wrong reason lol you don’t buy a hot spot (that uses cell towers) for areas where cell towers don’t usually work :P and it’s 3 years later and 5guw is still only really in major cities. (As it should be) they don’t have good range so it doesn’t make sense for them to be anywhere else. They also don’t perform well in certain buildings.

Please tell me more. You know of cellular hot spots that don’t use towers? I used to work in digital narrow band comms and satellite comms. I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying.
@phxntomplanet
@phxntomplanet 2 ай бұрын
@ you should’ve got something like starlink that uses satellites. My point was why complain about something that uses cell towers you already know your phone won’t work well so why would your hotspot lmfao it’s the same thing basically. I got this but not to use in places with bad cell reception :P I got it to use for multiple devices to replace my internet and to take with me anywhere
@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure
@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure 2 ай бұрын
Ahh. You missed the point I made about the hotspot being on another carrier’s network so the thought was to expand cell tower access, not jump on the same towers just through different hardware. In cases where you can’t deploy your Starlink antenna safely, a cell tower hotspot is still the go-to. Signal attenuation will affect WiFi router signals as well through walls which can be an issue if you work from a building and are connected to your RV’s router. Once you’ve been out on the road in various parts of the country a lot of scenarios come up where having just one way to access the internet just won’t always work.
@phxntomplanet
@phxntomplanet 2 ай бұрын
@ didn’t miss that point. My hotspot is on a different carrier as well doesn’t mean I expect either to work in the middle of nowhere lmfao

Excellent video. Thank you. BUT. After some experimentation with your method and others, I favor this alternative method: 1. take the folded filter out of the box, four tips up. 2. pull the first leaf open. Voila. There's your filter. I am using a Hario Switch. Could be that your method will more evenly distribute the pour, and I will try both methods, but I SERIOUSLY DOUBT if my coffee-tasting snobbery will allow me to tell a difference in the two folding methods. Thanks though for a very straightforward and workable video. Delightful presentation. EDIT: I just saw that this method is discussed in a comment below. Perfect. You've covered all the bases. I'll leave my comment up, but no criticism from me. As I said, I'll experiment with both methods and give feedback if I find any difference.

Wow, just wow! You don't have to do anything of the sort. You just remove one square filter open with the three folds at the spout and the one fold to the back and you are done.
@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure
@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure 4 ай бұрын
Without a big spout on my carafe it just seems weirdly thin. People have stated that if you have a carafe with a spout and put the thin side towards the spout, it is prone to collapse. This version works well in both carafe styles and won’t collapse. One doesn’t HAVE to fold it this way, but one doesn’t HAVE to brew coffee using a non-bleached, paper filter pour over method with precision temperature monitoring either. It’s for the love of the coffee.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. We just started researching these class Bs & leaning towards the coachmen. I'm catching this in 2024... does anyone know of coachmen has corrected this latch issue (that's been one of my concerns since seeing how they're made).
@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure
@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure 4 ай бұрын
Hi. I don’t think the latches have been changed out as these seem to be pretty much the standard on these types of drawers and cabinets (and the newer vans look to have the same ones or similar). What I’ve found is that they are just 2 little screws for each side of the latch and can be replaced easily with ones rated at a higher weight which is what I did. Thanks for watching!

I bought the 12TB version of this on the Western Digital website a few weeks ago and it is absolutely great. No issues at all streaming movies via Plex and my music. File transfer speeds are decent enough. I know there's a lot of negative comments about this device & Western Digital in general, but my own experience is nothing but positive. Sure there are more advanced & speedier ones out there but you get what you pay for.

Most helpful.I am getting ready for my first van,78 and looking to get away.My question is my choice,Entegra 2023 Expanse 21B is equipped with 2800 w generator,1000w inverter,2-12vAGM house batteries,30amp shore power……second choice,same model with,2800w generator,2X100 amp lithium batteries 2,000w inverter 300w solar power. Is my first adequate for travel,minimal if any boondocking,extensive travel with either coach.There is a substantial cost for the lithium unit,can I do without it. Thanks for replying if you see this in 2024.

@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure 7 ай бұрын
Hi there and thanks for watching! Your first option list CAN be adequate but you would need to understand how you’re going to use the van. With a 1000W inverter things like hot tea kettles or microwaves running while you have other electric dependent items running could be an issue. How will your A/C be tied in? I’ve seen the 2000W inverter to be the standard and for good reason (I have that kind) and it’s worked well and I do happen to have a microwave, induction top, and tea kettle. As for the batteries. That’s where I would say you could save money if you will never hardly boondock. Plugged up to shore power or with a generator 100% of the time and it’s not as a big deal on the batteries.

Thank you for this ‘critique’! Picked up on some tips to consider. I’m considering a rear full shower, I like daily showers with the Laveo Dry Flush waste system. What went went into this design change for Bertha 2.0? Also, I enjoy preparing meals everyday. You mentioned not cooking inside the van. How did you reach this decision?
@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure
@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure 7 ай бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response as we have been in the road. With interest rates still high it’s been hard to give Bertha a new home with a lot of people unable to get a decent loan so we are still in Bertha 1.0. The decision to not cook inside, at least not cook proteins and other things from raw was to not have the smoke and smell stick to the inside of the van and to eliminate any potential “grease” or other similar haze that can sometimes accumulate on surfaces near where you cook. It’s been pretty easy to find hot plates that run on propane outside and plug into the van’s propane.

They may work, or at least the size 155 ones. Kalita filters look very close to the ones Stagg sells for their pour over set but their filters are somewhat narrow at the bottom and I cannot tell if the Kalita ones are as narrow or too wide. They look like they will work though.

When we're at our cabin & off the grid, I don't have access to a mixer. I melt my brown sugar & butter in a saucepan on the stove. I blend them til combined like a caramel. Let it cool & combine with eggs, banana & dry ingredients. It works great! I WILL try this monkfruit golden in my banana bread.... but I'll probably melt them like I do the brown sugar.... I hope your experiment turns out...

Nice alternate fold, but I don't see how it could change the brew. In the usual method, you have 50% of the surface area of the filter with 3 layers of paper, and the other 50% with 1 layer. In your method, it's the same proportion: 50% 3-layer, and 50% 1-layer.

It creates a more even exposure to the linen filter. Both sides have. Equal folds and are mirrored to each other. You can also use this fold if you don’t have a chemex carafe with the big spout. There’s also just buying cone shaped linen filters too lol.

My master power switch is sketchy on my 2021 Coachman 22 RB Nova. It'll power up the coach, but on several occasions, I have to turn it on and off multiple times to get power. It's a critical single point of failure. Any thoughts on how to install a back-up switch or should I just replace the switch and hope for the best?
@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure
@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure Жыл бұрын
Hi Jim! Thanks for watching and great question. Your issue is a known issue on certain year model Beyond’s and most likely other models of Coachman vans. Bertha had the problem with the battery switch too disconnecting for no reason and needing to be reset. Sometimes it was super solid and sometimes would not stay connected the entire day. Replacing the switch is what fixed it for most. A lot of people seemed to have had the problem resolved as a warranty fix.

Hi, sorry for the delay in responding! I have not found the 5G Ultra coverage areas to be any better now then when I got the hotspot. If worked as advertised all the time, on the faster 5G Ultra bands, if you get throttled it is down to like 5MBs/sec which is very usable for most things. I so far have been throttled on this hotspot several times and it is less than 1 MBs/sec and totally unusable for anything other than checking email. I would not recommend replacing Xfinity with this just yet. I have not found a really well liked “wireless” alternative to traditional home internet. Even Starlink has its issues.

@@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure Thanks for your response I may need to send this unit back and not even open it up. Sounds like from what I read it's not a good idea to try to use it for a whole house system. It's crazy though You only have one option for a good internet connection and then they want to charge you crazy amounts of money. Then there's all these people rolling across getting it for free makes no sense to me I guess the working class is paying for everyone's free internet. If people truly need it I understand but there's a lot of people that are just taking advantage of the system that we have. I guess that's just the nature of the beast. Just wish there was other options. I'm sure they know they got you by the balls..

Real good info! Why are you using the 30A cord rather than just the HD 110 extension cord and the 110v/30A adapter? Thanks for the info
@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure
@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure Жыл бұрын
Good question. I use the adapter on the end that plugs into the house/generator/shore power. I haven’t seen adapters for the van end of the plug but even if those are out there I try to take as little as possible that is bulky, especially if it is for a single purpose. Keeping the 30amp cord with a small 20Amp (and also a 50amp) adapter takes up the least amount of space in the van and I try to replicate the routine for home plug in too.
