I planted Holy Basil, I was not organized and lost track of what's what. however I looked at the "what's this plant" app and it indicated that is what it was, and yours looks just like it, however, there is no smell. Could this be something else, or dangerous?

Why are all the coolest plants from marshlands... I can never keep them moist enough in my own garden, it makes me sad! Do you know how to grow this, do they need a wetland or are they more adaptable? I would prefer to harvest it from a garden rather than taking it from the wild.

@@Hayley-sl9lm Verbena hastata is considering a zone 3-9 plant. It does require consistently wet soil. Plant it near the edge of a pond or a water feature to provide the soil moisture it requires. @@Jemmyjo there are not clear instructions and doses on purpose. You should go in person to an herbalist or naturopath to develop a formula including multiple herbs to address your wholistic issues for best results. Doses are also rather variable depending upon your sensitivity to herbs and how quickly your liver processes and excretes them. I have had patients who can only tolerate drop doses of strong herbs, while other patients need tablespoons to get the same result from the same tincture. Certainly you can just start playing randomly with some plants that you met on the internet, but without proper herbalist training or support, your results may vary.

WARNING! Beware! Last year(2023), I grew this plant from seed in my vegetable garden... The next spring in Zone 6 I was pleased to see it come back after the freezing winter. But I wanted to sow carrots in that same bed. So, I went to remove the passion flower only to realize how it had completely taken over that spot! It had spread roots everywhere within 6 ft. They are very strong, like nonbreakable steel cables, and run deep(6" to 1.5 feet). The main roots send out minor roots branching everywhere. The point is: Passion flowers are a powerfully invasive. They make mint seem like a joke because their woody roots and runners are nearly impossible to remove them all, whereas mint has relatively shallow root systems. Unless you want passion flowers forever all over the place, then I suggest to plant it in an isolated area or in containers, not in your beautiful gardens. Happy gardening!

@@sheldon740 please don’t eat the seed pods. “The seeds of mimosa trees contain chemicals called alkaloids. The alkaloids present in these seeds counteract the actions of vitamin B6 in the body. Vitamin B6 is essential for producing neurotransmitters, which send signals between nerve cells. Consuming mimosa seed pods can result in muscle tremors, muscle spasms and convulsions due to the antagonistic effect that the alkaloids have on vitamin B6. Affected animals may present with locomotion problems and display abnormal movements when turning or backing up. Exaggerated responses to stimuli, salivation and difficulty breathing have also been observed. Symptoms typically manifest 12 to 24 hours after eating the seeds.
