13 years later. This video saved my pants repair! Now the reverse works perfect again. Got it free with the hair dryer and put a drop of oil. All good 💪💪💪

Bought a used Elna super. The needle centering dial is in the wrong position. Almost impossible to move the dial. The needle is centered when the dial is all the way to the right. Can I re-center the dial?

Hi, my old Husvarna sews only reverse. I can't pull the reverse button up after oiling it. What should I do on the back of the machine? Watched some videos but didn't quite understand, maybe because I was not sure in which way their machine's reververse button was stucked (in or out). Could you help me. Instruck me as if you would instruck to a child. (I'm not an English speaker.) Thanks!

Hello. I have a husqvarna optima 190 sewing machine, suddenly it started to work itself without pressing the pedal and smoke started to come out, I wonder what is the problem that causes this. When I looked at the circuit board, I saw that two capacitors had exploded. I would be very grateful if you could help me
@AbsoluteSewing4 ай бұрын
You need to replace them. they are causing a short. Have you tried your machine again?

Followed your instructions for loosening the two correct screws to release the bobbin case on my Elna ZZ. The bobbin case wiggles just a bit but cannot be removed. The screws are loose and twirl in place. Do you think the screws are somehow stripped? What else could be holding the bobbin case in place?

I have an elna su. The capacitor has 4 wires. The capacitor blew up. I disconnected it. The machine ran perfectly for a few minutes. Then the motor slowed and seemed to lose power. Any ideas on what could cause this?
@AbsoluteSewing6 ай бұрын
Have you checked the motor brushes?
@AbsoluteSewing6 ай бұрын
If your motor runs and it is not driving your machine, then usually the rubber friction pulley is hard. You can soften it by running it against sandpaper and it will grip again. Make sure there is not oil on it and the flywheel. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2eVo4GNhMqia68 You don't need to remove it to.
@cnforsyth56156 ай бұрын
@@AbsoluteSewing yes. Brushes are fine. Cleaned the commutator too.
@cnforsyth56156 ай бұрын
@@AbsoluteSewing it looks (from the odd angle I have to tip the machine to and using a torch) like there's no rubber on the friction pulley. Once I've figured out how to get the fly wheel off I'll have a closer look. Thank you.

4:47 - Very useful photo. If your lighting and camera focus were better, this would have been an exceptional video. We cannot see much. Also best to clean out machine when explaining. These videos are hugely useful in rescuing beautiful machines that should be in service not the despair of owners. I believe two things create problems: 1. All models which are self oiling have sticky gear issues. The sponge soaked with oil becomes gummy, the oil gums up the gears and shafts. These models need periodic cleaning out with alcohol then lubing with Triflow Synthetic silicone oil, NOT 3-in-1 machine oil that gums up. Sewing machine oil is fine too. 2. Camstack - the device that allows mounting of embroidery cams, is cracked on every machine. I suspect this is due to the hot incandescent bulb that is so hot that you can burn your hand on the cover. Even at 25 watts, too much heat to be near plastic parts. Switch over to LED bulb 'BA15D 4014 80 LED' or something similar. It needs to be a double contact (two contact points on base), bayonet mount (2 prongs sticking out), push-in type (no screw threads on base). Easy to find on Amazon. Some come without covers, some have glass or plastic covers, and some have the LED embedded in clear silicone so feels rubbery to touch, very novel! I like the silicone ones, no breakage or light distortion. Just measure overall length. A bit over or under on length is okay. But you must change the bulb to stop the heat damage. The light is whiter, brighter, and illuminates work area marvelously. Use alcohol, or a combo mix of 50:50 alcohol:mineral spirits to clean out oily residue. Do NOT use Carburetor Cleaner or Acetone - very corrosive on plastic parts and super toxic to breathe. Toothbrush, you don't need spray. A narrow bottle brush from Harbor Freight is also useful - dip and scrub. Wipe off with paper towels. When all cleaned out, with heat and brushing, oil up with Triflow. This works beautifully.

Hello, I thought I already wrote a comment,.. couldnt find it. at second 13, for one minute your're working with that white plastic-thing.... .... what is it called? and how does it chance (resistance?) for acceleration of the sewing-machine? I hope you can help me out with this questions, because I have such a sewing-machine and the foot-pedal broke. Now I cant afford to buy a new pedal vor 100$ ! So I hope I can repair it, if I find out how it works. your Mom.

Very interesting ! All well and good, except for a few things. My foot control for my ELNA 5000, type P 500, has not got a screw on the side. I took the grey cover strip off, and I’m unable to locate the clip you are talking about, to enable the rod holding the two parts together to be removed ! So now, at 78, I’m frustrated and hot and bothered, because I thought I had a solution to my problem. Can you suggest anything, as I can not see any clips. I’d send pictures, but there isn’t the facility so to do.
