@@denisfatura5537 I'm not sure how it goes. It depends on how long the 8hp's from n57 etc. are. I have seen adapters using original flexplate, so it would tell me that the trans might be that long away from the engine.

@@pazi88that makes sense. I will try to find some dimmensions. I have an e83 with a very solid technical condition and low mileage. But the GM transmission is just terrible, the worst automatic I’ve ever driven…

@@Juicespec Yeah same thing. The older transfercase on e46 can work too with bit of modification. And I haven't at least heard of the transfer case breaking. Usually it's the front diff or the driveshaft to it what breaks first.

@@margauxlowery4324 I did not had acceleration numbers with old trans, so I don't have numbers to compare. But it definitely feels much faster below 100km/h. At the end of the video I had the before and after fuel consumption numbers.

Well, cantcu is the perfect choise for street car because of the use of original tcu in the transmission. It gives oem driveability which is must for nice to drive street car. But it also work for track, drag racing etc. very well. Especially with the better OEM+ flash and proper manual mode. It's also very easy to install. But once you start to need trans-brake for spooling big turbo in drag racing or virtual clutch for drifting (though why run auto for that, when manual is better), then turbolamik becomes the better choice. It's of course a lot more difficult to install and requires tuning to get working nicely. So not really worth the hassle if you don't need the extra features it offers.

@@mumppa I actually had big charger hooked to the car. I just accidentally cut out that section of the video. Battery was bit empty after sitting for whole summer so the charging voltage was still quite low (but coming up).

Driven Chaser with 8hp Turbo Lamik TCU and virtual clutch. Well worth it.

No really other options than use the 6-bolt crank version of the n54 flex plate and weld 4 holes shut and then re-drill to 8 holes.

x3 has same type mounting for transfer case as the facelift X5. So no problem there. But the m57 needs adapter for the 8hp, which probably causes issues with driveshaft lengths etc.

@@vahvelpoiss This had the same GM trans as the pre-facelifts have with M54.

so I looked into it a bit more now and found suitable gearboxes. however my model has the NV125 transfer case which seems to be quite a rare thing now. is there an option out there to utilize the NV125 still or I have to go for ATC450/700 transfer case and if so, what else I need for it? I appreciate any info I get, even if it's just a nod :D

It's not a product which failed, it's the measurement of the part and servicing it. "Lifetime fluid" if you wanna keep changing new parts. Also the torque overally is too much with the M57 specially.

Like I said in the video. The bolts need to be torqued when the car is sitting on the wheels to make sure that the rubber bushings are bolted into correct position.

@@pazi88 i know, i meant other bolts like for example the flexdisk, if M10 10.9, you need 60Nm or the shock absorber when M14 screw, you need 140Nm and many other bolts.

Yeah, manual is the most fun and enoyable to drive. And I prefer it over any old automatic transmission. But because 8hp is so great, it's better for daily than manual. Even though I like manuals the most.

@@pazi88 With 8hp it's definitely a great city SUV. But I'm a guy who has a special interest in SUVs/SAVs with manual transmission. Crazy driving style of an SUV like a sedan sports car :)
