I'd guess that an AGR approaching 15, as stated, would then require significantly higher octane fuel. So, in the end, it's probably not going to cost any less per mile to operate.

I was just thinking that if the water were super heated inside the cylinder that this improvement in the steam engine as opposed to a boiler, yeah this could work well. But the atomization of the water precisely the right time and degree is tricky

Nitromethane engines can extremely violently detonate and blow the blower off, which is why they have safety straps, blow the entire cylinder head off and older designs I've heard of them blowing cylinder blocks apart and violently injuring crew members when being started or even worse, I've heard that they can send shrapnel into the stands injuring spectators etc, the New designs are crazy, cylinder blocks and heads and pistons and connecting rods etc CNC machined from solid billets of material to be extremely strong for their weight, also extremely beautiful 😂 oh and let's not forget extremely expensive as well 😂 there is so much time and effort put into an engine that if everything doesn't work relatively correctly Will not survive the quarter mile 😢

Nothing new. Essentially a gasoline version of the old Detroit Diesel engine where the intake port is replaced by an intake valve. The exhaust valve and supercharger are the same.

No modern electric motors are 50-60 % that's poorly designed small brushed ones from 30 + years ago 85- 97% is common in electric cars. For the same power output as a 4 stroke twice as many power strokes per cylinder would create less vibration and use a lighter flywheel. The same as an engine with more cylinders runs smoother.

top fuel engines are not high compression ..in static form. Something 6:5:1..They need lots of room in there for all the fuel it will be consuming. This is directly from a top fuel team ...now with boost the dynamic compression will change dramatically.

There is a lot of rotary vane machinery in the field of pumps and compressors. In these applications the thermal requirements are not as hard as in the field of internal combustion engines. You can use well developed sealing solutions with very low friction. The movement of the vanes is usually done simply by centrifugal forces. In order to keep the forces low, the elliptic housing is usually not too much wider than the rotating cylinder diameter. Rotational speed is always a problem because you have to avoid oil or greeze. Therefore the circumferential speed is in the order of 1 to 2 m/s.The sealing at the rotating cylinder sides requires spring loaded solutions, which is not so simple. So many rotary vane pumps live with gaps and fluid losses. I can imagine, that in the field of lower operating temperatures, i.e. steam engines, rotary vane engine may contribute to the technical solution field. At higher temperatures you will meet much more sealing problems as in the case of the geometrical well defined rotor of Wankel engines. I think you have to use graphit or boron nitride for high temperature sealings which are self-lubricating. Also liquid metals like Galinstan can be applied for sealing and lubrication like in the case of displacer sealings for Gamma Stirling engines.

Other than mentioning the air intake needed for the 10% ethanol mixture, this video completely missed discussing that 5+ liter motor-driven air intake system. Would love to see another video discussing this critical component of the system. For example, if 90% of the fuel carries its own oxygen, why does the engine need such a massive super charger that saps power from the engine for the remaining 10% methanol?

Ooo, so this is why they will replace the electric motors. It’s because of the claimed 15% more thermal eficiency. The fact that you inject watter in an oil lubricated system is nothing. The fact that ads complexity to an already complex engine, compared to an electric motor is also nothing. 😂😂

Vane has 4-6 combustion events per rotation, wankel has terrible fuel efficiency and more terrible are oil efficiency and exhaust gases. So vane could be revolutionary

This engine is perfect for power generation with a single slower speed shaft directly driving a generator. Immersed in the core of a hot water cylinder where the engine heat provides domestic hot water while charging batteries during non solar periods. Liquid Piston should be filling this role, but, like Aptera, will never produce a commercial product.
