A nice little things you can do with the Multiband Filterbank is, if you got a sample of a break beat, put Filterbank in to a return, solo the high frequencies and add a delay under it. that way your only going to get the high hats on the break delaying. or just the bass to get the kick to delay and so forth.

A cool thing to do is the “Pseudo-Sidechain” Target: Any combination of instruments How-to: Use the envelope follower of one band to control the level or filter cutoff of another band. For example, use the kick drum’s envelope follower (low band) to duck the volume of a synth pad (mid band). Result: This creates a rhythmic pumping effect similar to sidechain compression, but with more flexibility and control over the specific frequencies affected.

Native Instrument can really dress up with their machine. Some of the plugins that can be found on the machine do not work properly or the CPU is immediately overwhelmed. but what Akai is doing for MPC is so awesome.

I must say... I watched the vid, and didn't quite get the excitement UNTIL I actually downloaded and tried the plug 😮 I want to thank you for the heads up on the current free99 price too LoL I can't really explain it, but this plugin is truly on a different level from some of their previous offerings... With a bit of patience and fiddling it is very possible to elevate an element or an entire mix. It just feels good... And can be made to sound great! The closest thing that I could compare the feeling that it gave after 1st use was the equivalent of how I felt years ago the 1st time that I used good ole Soundgoodizer in Fruity Loops LoL True, definitely different type of plugins with different functions, but that feeling of wow when you hear how it can manipulate the sounds is the exact same. I agree completely. Akai is on the way to having an MPC platform that rivals PC DAWs, while providing a hardware experience. They need to find a way to manufacture quality components cheaper so they can up the specs (CPU/Ram) for a good price.

This with flavor pro is alot of fun. Add to the fun, write automation. Imagine a high and low frequency cutoff, where all you are hearing is strong mids, and slowly opening the filter to include the full range of audio, giving that effect in film from going from an alarm clock to the song becoming the soundtrack to the film. Also, this plugin with the Mother Ducker plugin is so much fun... Unfortunately, I have discovered another bug with the software, at least, the MPC does not save the state of whether a plugin is active or not per sequence. Enable a plugin in sequence 1, change to sequence 2 and try disabling that plugin, go back to sequence 1 and youll find the plugin is disabled in sequence 1. I havent tried using write automation to see if disabling a plugin while recording will work yet, this might be a workaround...

I think that is by design. If the effect is an insert effect, it should be attached to the program, not a sequence.

I managed to get around the challenge of only having pre filter visualization but putting two in a row. I use an external controller to the tweak the first of the pair with the results visualized in the second. But I guess they will give us the pre and post visualization in the next update.

I got the plug-in but Im wondering how can I get it installed on my MPC One now. I dont see it in the prefrences/activations. A lot of people have had that issue mate. Just keep checking your Activations list. Eventually it will show up. I had to wait 24 hours myself.

After having a play around with this for about 10 minutes I came to the conclusion this might be the best new plug in for getting distorted 808's to become more punchy and heard in the mids. Instead of applying tube drive to the whole spectrum of sound you can isolate and add drive to the mids/highs of the bass. Loving this plug in already!

I had a feeling you would like this plugin, because I had similar feelings about it and it's potential, good video. I actually didn't think the processor in MPC could do a visual representation like this due to how limited it is, yes it lags but Akai have clearly worked some type of magic to bring this type of visual to MPC, not sure how MPC will cope if you have other "animated" plugins like this all running at once though.

Dang I really like how it shaped that sample with the lofi SP1200 sound on it. The drum stuff too. I'm definitely gonna explore this one a lot. I'm just imagining where MPCs and standalones could be in 5 years. I wonder if Akai will start to explore features that will be more friendly for electronic production styles, considering the synths they've worked on. Modulation is super limited right now and cross modulation is impossible, but even with a slightly better computer on board, there's a lot possible. I've got my eyes on Push 3 as a future addition because the synth power on that thing is miles ahead. I'd love to see MPC grow in the ways Ableton has explored with sound design that is actually already available on Push 3 because there are things better about each platform and I sit somewhere between the two haha.

Nice discussion. I think this was a nice shot if it is an indicator of things to come. Conversely, the future of MPC is MPC 3. Hopefully, new hardware too. I don’t think I’ll see the MPC 3 future, but glad that people are excited. I’ll stay at MPC 2 unless new hardware comes about that is faster and less buggy. It’s disappointing Akai still haven’t figured out this server issue. I got mine instantly as trial on the 28th. Then I later got the code and it switched from a trial to “activated”.

It depends how you use it mate. If you use it as a colour box, then the mix/master out is a good place. But as a filter, it would be good on loops, synths, guitars, etc etc. I wouldn’t want to limit it to only use on the master out though.
