This is a very informative video. When I click on the “MODE” button on the GTC 505. I am seeing “Burn Time, Nose / Kick, Tachometer and Voltage”. I am not seeing the “Dwell ” or “Ramp” option on the GTC 505 instead I am seeing “Nose / Kick”. I cannot view the Ramp time of an ignition coil.

Just another comment to say thankyou, 2006 BK Mazda, changed all engine mounts then stalled on slowing or stopping, but would only do when engine coolant was cold, once warm it wouldn’t do it. Issue solved with a strip and clean of the throttle body and a relearn, cheers mate 🤟🏽

Hi Romano I am keen to understand the long term effects on engine reliability as well as the one thing that bugs me... I am based in South Africa and also have the 2016 FJ cruiser, i have 285/70/R17 tyres, bullbar and rooftop tent. When driving between 120-130km/h the gears hunt between 5th (2000rpm) and 4th (3000rpm) and often even 3rd (4000rpm). How do you find driving at that cruising speed between 120-130km/h?

I've just done this with my VZ crewman. Had same issue, replaced tcm and bob your uncle, it worked fine. Except now the car is "overheating" very fast although when I pop the bonnet the engine is cold enough to lay my cheek on. And the car shuts off when it gets hot. When I try to start it the AUTO gearbox sounds like it is grinding ITS A NEW REBUILT BOX and I didn't have this issue before I replaced the tcm?

I've had this tool for 2 years. It's an overpriced graphic data interpreter. You can do all of these tests by yourself with a cheap scope or by reading live data and applying logic to what you see. It doesn't have bi-directional controls. It eats RAM and battery. The tool isn't going to do anything but confuse/mislead you if you don't know what you're don't to begin with.

Had one of those recently. Suspected Instrument Cluster. Had to resolder what another mechanic had an attempt to repair. I isolated it to the PCM. Josh confirmed it and after a second-hand install - happy days! Good content Rob - thanks mate. 😉😉

good work. common problem if you push on the cluster face problem goes away, needs stripping a re flow all the joints
@johndee6822 күн бұрын
I'm curious, if you are aware, presumably before you started working on the car, that they have numerous history of cluster failings. Why waste customers chargable time chasing other areas first? Or did you only find out about the clusters tendencies of failures after getting the cluster repaired?

well done Rob. just make it more specific for someone that can missunderstood, at 5.15 you mentioned for hi speed and low speed can .both ,hi and low ,has the same speed, the different is that they are working on different voltage. it's hi voltage and low voltage, but on the same speed. thanks for sharing this video. nice trick, the punch on the dash. it's my trick now ,too.

good diag! 👌 Side note, those screens in the cluster were common to fail, and can be serviced separately from the cluster 👌

I want to know the truth... How many times did you do the door dance before you figured out it wasn't working 😅. On a serious note what it the difference between a master and slave key? I've always been nervous adding a key to Toyota with my 508. Should I be?
@romanosautomotiveАй бұрын
I'm embarrassed to say but I did learn that sometimes I should use my brain and check the scan tool instead of doing the backwards egg beater two step door dance first 🤣 I'm sure there is no difference and not sure why they are separated on the tool but no absolutely nothing to be nervous about. Add it and do a video on it, I want to see how you go and if you end up having to do the sidewinder jumpshot barnyard door dance!

Looks like a good kit, are you writing the re map? Or just uploading tried and tested files that others have created?
@romanosautomotiveАй бұрын
We don't modify them ourselves. We have multiple tuners that modify the files for us.
@robwid575Ай бұрын
Ok, are the files uploaded and available in a database on magic Motorsport or are you getting the files through third party people that you work with? I’m interested in adding something like this to our business but training is not really out there. I’m just trying to get my head around the process. I’ll send an enquire through your website for pricing as well.
@romanosautomotiveАй бұрын
Send through an enquiry and I'll give you an in-depth chat on it and will give you contacts of great tuners who can do the modifications for you if you don't want to do it yourself.

You can do compression test with the Escope. Go to tool, then choose “compression” next to “Misfire” and you will have to crank the engine for 10 seconds and it will show you the results in colors “ colored bars”.

Great vid. Question, is that one of those cars that shuts the fuel injector off when it detects a misfire? Maybe you could put the scope on the injector control wire to see if it does.
@romanosautomotiveАй бұрын
Yes it is. The misfire you saw in the video was the ECU shutting the injector off because it was counting misfires even though it wasn't traditionally misfiring. Thanks for watching!
