I had one of these and sold it after a month because of the vague steering and the ride was WAY too hard. Swapped for an Audi A4 3.0 TDI

I've driven one for 7000km and it's a fantastic car, you need a charging station at home or nearby but the fast charging capability makes it usable. But there is one problem with this car that will probably never be noticed in the UK, on the Autobahn at more than 200km/h the bonnet, i.e. the front hood, starts to move so much that it actually opened once, the catch hook saved it but this should never happen.

stick to your guns, you love it and bought it for a reason. I have the same doubt about buying one sort of on impulse and high mileage and obvious issues on test drive that I chose to look past. Still, at the end of the day, you have a sweet e46. Spending A lot of money to maintain a car is normal and there will be more maintenance in the future (hope its not too bad for either of us) but other cars have the same crap go wrong with them too. BMW vroom vroom.

For your headlights, polish them and wrap a very mild tint over them. The tint provides a very good UV protection, which will prevent future oxidation of the lens, and the tint looks really cool too.

All four of my tyres were losing pressure quickly. What happens is the alloy corrodes where the tyre bead fits, all you need to do is ask the tyre fitters to clean off the corrosion reseat the tyre and job done.

Im getting to like this new California design, especially the Ocean model offering PHEV with 4Motion, I hope however that it will be affordable. Is the drivers lumbar support and footwell space improved at all from the T6.1?

Hi Amelia. Normally they put the chargers on the sides because if u get a fender bender the charger on the grill tends to make a small incident more expensive.... thats what i was told atleast 😅 Great review btw, subscribed!!

Would i be wrong in saying t 11:31 hey got it right with the Mk7.5? I wont be changing to this 8/8.5 soon... no hydraulic bonnet prop, some have no sound deadening under the bonnet and some have manual rear window winders. Also there have been engine cover fires that VW just remove the cover with no fix available yet. That huge screen needs to go and be built in like the Mk7.5?

I have the 325CI E46 in a limited edition blue with the colour matching the convertible roof. It’s just crossed 90K miles and had one previous owner, immaculate condition. Although this time of year doesn’t do the roof any favours!! it’s the most aesthetically pleasing BMW and in my opinion STILL runs rings around the majority of cars of the last 2 decades. They will appreciate.

I love that colour . I have the rally green 3.5 vrs. Stage one takes them to a very capable and reliable 310bhp from the challenge model. It has a great spec and I’m really happy with it . A do it all car that needs for nothing more. I do get tempted to change it for something different but I just can’t fault it . Jack of all trades type but doesn’t master any but in a good way. Not the fastest.. nor the most exciting . But it does do it all well and very practical. I have a classic Fiat 500 I think you should review ! 😂❤

Make sure the valve core is securely screwed in the valve tube using a tool that costs a few quid,or a pair of very thin nose pliers can do the job to tighten it.I have the coupe version of this car and low tyre pressure on one of the front tyres is bloody dangerous.

I've come to the conclusion there is no economical model of car ownership. Either pay dead money to lease; pay for depreciation; or pay to maintain an older car. My decision: E46 with an M54 engine is pretty much the pinnacle of automotive engineering. Find a good one and budget to keep it in fine fettle and you'll be smitten.
@zoneadmin-n6c15 күн бұрын
Mine is also a black-on-black color arrangement. This E46 was relatively impossible to find at the time. I too had paint issues, now fixed. Thankfully, California weather carries its' own rust inhibitor, unlike blighty. You really ought to consider an aluminum radiator, an aluminum thermostat, and an aluminum water pump if you intend to keep it. Put in a fuel pump, alternator, and coils at 150K and a Bosch starter at 100K and 200K. Polyurethane bushes every 50,000 miles are needed. BMW oil it yourself every 15,525 and no earlier. Mine has 238K and has cost me on average $3.5K per year from when I bought it, including the purchase price of $17K at 60K miles. This is a very durable machine, but with a weak plastic cooling system and poor electrics.

I've had my 330ci for the past 6 years and put 70kkm on it. I replaced the entire cooling system; hoses, radiator, water pump, thermostat, the reservoir and coolant temp sensor. I also did brakes, tires, some painting/welding jobs due to corrosion, overhauled the steering system, put a yellow tag rack and lf-30 pump into my 2002. The things i mentioned above aren't expensive or difficult jobs. The problem with your car being a convertible is that all the trim on the outside of your car is expensive AF and some items are no longer available from the dealer/OE manufacturers, such as the windshield cowl. The trim around the rear side windows on my coupe are ~300gbp per side (this is a 50-60cm part with rubber and a piece of metal), the rubber parts are also expensive but luckily, can be fabricated using 3M parts or others. These are old cars are no longer roadworthy for everyday use, considering the condition of your car, it being an m sport and overall nicely optioned, it's more of a weekend toy if anything. As i said, I bought mine 6 years ago, and even back then my brother said to me "this is a relic of the past and you should get yourself a daily instead of driving a 3.0 petrol, mostly around town" and he was right.

Looks great on the outside and the inside got alot better compared to the regular MK8. That Red and Cloth seats would be my choice looks awesome, well done Review BTW Amelia good job

We have an LCI 320D whcih honestly is enough as have an STi RA for fun. I had yo have the adaptive dampers and M Sport steering wheel so sacrificed things like heated seats, pro nav, and sun roof to get them in a car with the right history (literally one lady owner, an oxford professor no less) and mileage. Dont regret that decision but am unimpresssed with the LED lights. The bi-xenons you have arr much, much better, particularly on low beam and do wish we had those. All round though do love the car and will keep it for a while.

Thank you! Someone else who actually agrees that chrome grilles on E46 coupes work via the contrast with silver wheels. Also, blacked out grilles are on literally every other clapped out 318ci out there anyway that you’d be turning your car into a chav special.

This car deserves every possible renovation, restoration and improvement. İndeed, it worth of doing m3 upgrades in the engine and drivetrain etc. Whatever money you spend on it may feel like unnecessary or too much right now. However, maximum 10 years from now on, all these cars will be classic or retro classic and will worth massive amount of money. Especially, naturally aspirated coupes and Cabrio cars, hot hatch cars from. 80's, 90's, 2000's. All Subarus with no cvt trans, hondas witout cvt, Nissan 350Z and 370z, probably all hem cars made before G series, Mercedes w210, w211 and similar, all mini coopers made before 2016, 2015 or before, VW new beetle and more. Especially, E30, E36, E46 and 5,6 etc other bmw series cars made in that period. Currently driven EV's and EV's will be sold during the next 10 years probably gonna run people crazy and most of them gonna end up in junkyards. Later on, there may be some proper electric cars or may be hydrogen or some sort of eazy to make senthetic fuel vehicles.

Hi, I've just got a 2018 330d M sport . Black with those 19" wheels. Heated seats and steering wheel!! One thing for your car, much more than a remamp, is the BMW adaptive suspension. I would say that's what you're missing.
