Completely missed the point. If you want a nice interior, you buy a bmw or a golf. The money on this car has been spent on engineering - making it a driving machine. I have a M135ix and getting the Yaris as simply fun to drive, not plush, not quiet but a driving tool. This steers-and grips in a different league to the golf or bmw both of which are 200+ more kilos.

I'm impressed by the extent to which people don't understand the concept of the interior that Toyota is proposing. The car is designed by professional drivers just like a racing car. The red lines, the precious materials, the acacia wood etc it's not the philosophy of the car car who cares. The clientele of this car is the same as that of the Mistubishi Evo IX and when you see the interior and the price that people pay for one of these cars, it shows that Toyota wants this pragmatic clientele, not that of the Golf GTI.

As you say, it's purely personal. Personally, I find the interior of the Evo banal and insipid (like the interior of the GR Yaris Gen 1 that I own). This new interior has the merit of being daring and obviously you either love it or hate it. For my part, it reminds me of the Lancia Delta HF integrale with an extra screen, so I love it. @@arctictruck10 in a straight line where automatics shine, sure. But that is also something the GRY isn't made for, it's a drivers car not a drag strip car. Anything other than a straight line, it's entirely up for grabs based on skills and experience. Sound like you're not very familiar with MT driving? Besides, manual is just a lot more fun IMHO As for "heavy traffic", which is always such a silly point to make... Nearly all cars in Europe are MT and we've got traffic jams around cities without anyone complaining. In essence a manual isn't all that different from an automatic at all in traffic jams, as it all comes down to mere muscle memory. Not that GR Yaris should be found in daily traffic jams, this car is made as a fun grippy performance car, which can pretty much be a daily perfectly fine. However, usually your daily is another bigger car with more functionality for "daily driving". I mean backseat, what backseat?😁 Besides it's not like anyone driving manually is "thinking about it". Basically the automatic part is not in the car, but the person, so to speak😁
@arctictruck105 ай бұрын
@RagicaltheUnhallowedKnight if you go to any professional race cars series that are sequential gearboxes. Nobody is driving a manual car except NASCAR in which that is just driving in a circle . I have a manual 1987 BMW E30 with a S52 swap and had a VR6 Corrado and many 83& 84 VW GTI. My "silly" point about traffic is your comparing European city traffic to freeway traffic here in the States with is apples to oranges. Go look at a video of LA traffic on the 405 and see if you will keep that same feeling.
@RagicaltheUnhallowedKnight5 ай бұрын
@@arctictruck10 why are you comparing pro drivers to us normies? I already said, manual is just a lot more fun to drive to me, which is the entire point I'm not driving for competition and we are definitely not good enough to consistently drive time attacks or even track day races regardless of manual or automatic. So the fun factor wins for me. And even pro drivers only managed to shave of less than half a second compared to the original less powerful GRY using the new more powerful automatic GRY MK.2. It's not all that drastic of a change even with more BHP. Let alone for us mere mortals doing some track days on occasion. Even Keiichi Tsuchiya mentioned he wasn't to impressed by the automatic transition because the gear ratio wasn't properly set up, which is an inherent problem differing from track to track. so basically to get the most out of the AT, you'd have to tweak the ratios each time for each new track your want to drive. That stuff is way too bothersome and expensive to do Besides your point is still silly. I said AROUND cities, where our freeways/autobahns reside. Besides, traffic jams are traffic jams even the ones within cities. The driving behavior and time spent in there are similar, the same of stop and go or slow to no go. Your point is very American as the country driving mostly automatics. It's as if you truly believe other countries, mostly driving MT, don't experience complete gridlock at times
