but what if the new opportunity turns out to be not better than the current job and I need to come back? Doesn't makes sense to leave doors open and use the vacation or LOA instead during the probation at the new job?

Micromanagers are extremely mentally sick people with mental health issues that need immediate attention sought by a medical professional.

What do you do if you are already doing that but the manager acts like you didn't say one word to them about anything and you gotta repeat your self over and over! Smh I send emails and IM messages to keep the supervisor in the loop so I don't have to be questioned , but the supervisor comes back and ask me about the same exact situation I just wrote a full email about. I feel insulted at that point like im a 3rd grader and the person is calling me a liar and asking me again to see if I will change my story. Is there a way we can tell management about it, and let them know they will loose good employees with these horrible power tripping Supervisors, or I just need to start looking for a new job cause it will only get worse! Lol Smh 🤦🏾‍♀️

Hi there! I would say if you've done everything to communicate (document the communication), I would start looking for another job. Life is too short to keep putting up with people who doesn't support your growth. Goodluck!

well, I feel micromanager is putting a rope on my neck and gives me command and order to move on every single step, feels like I am a stupid person, don't know what to do. The micromanager thinks he is super important person, without his control in place, nobody can make progress, nobody can succeed, but that's not the case. Really need to piss off.

micromanager thinks he is the most cleverest person in the world, but actually he is not. he always want to prove he is more clever than anyone else. He is expecting to be admired and worshiped. Micromanager doesn't allow different opinions, ideas and solutions, what he said is the standard, what he is doing is the bible, what he thinks thing to be is the command. If you have different approach or ideas to do things, he will criticise you and screaming and shouting to you. Working with such a super pretentious idiot micromanager is disgusting.

This is great, but in education every time you communicate your progress on a project with a principal or administrator always gives you more to do. As a result much of us communicate less. Any suggestions?

I would love to learn how to tactfully disagree or bring up problems without getting into an open fire with micromanagers and just toxic management. Often times they don’t even listen and don’t want to solve problems, gaslighting you and leave you pretty much frustrated that you cannot do your job.

When I first started managing people I was a micromanager. Learned quickly they didn't work. Now I am the polar opposite, as long as the work is getting done and quality, I am happy. I will say to someone periodically "please work on X, Y or Z. Don't put me in a position where I have to micromanage you. "

Isn't it possible that the manager doesn't have a sense of a person's capabilities until they have proven themselves to be reliable, meeting deadlines, and providing high quality work? Once the manager has seen that the employee is capable then they will ease off in many cases. In my opinion when you start a new job and your boss is the one who will be held accountable for your work by their bosses higher up, it makes sense to me that they need to get to know you over a period of time so they can relax and be confident in your abilities. I would advise that new hires not take it personally and I agree with you that keeping the boss informed regularly of your progress when you first begin a job shows that you are going to be a diligent, productive, and reliable support for them. They will value and trust you more if they know you are helping them to make them look good to their bosses!

This is great info! I wish I had known this a couple of years ago. I ended up quitting because I was going home crying everyday. She even timed us in thr bathroom. We were allowed 2 minutes. If we even took 4, she'd lecture us. When I had to use the restroom 2x in 8 hours, she asked me if I had a medical problem.

I've been doing software testing for over 20 years. I found out that I was HSP 2 years ago. I've been running a software testing team for a decade now and I have hired many people with no prior experience. Some have even been lifelong home makers who decided to enter the workforce, while many others have joined from various backgrounds (teaching, science lab work, bar tending, retail, food services, military service, etc.). My point is simply that you shouldn't assume you won't qualify or can't do well because you don't have a degree in testing. Guess what, there's no such thing. So give it a shot if you're at all interested in software testing.

Hi Vanessa, this is extremely useful video as I am going to resign soonest in the future. I would like to ask what should we do if the boss refuse to accept the resignation letter during the in-person conversation? Should we just email the resignation letter straight away and serve our notice? Thanks!
@imvanbradshaw
@imvanbradshaw 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Shia! Thank you so much for watching and I'm glad you have found this useful. If your boss refused to accept your resignation in person, this is an opportunity for you to negotiate if there's anything you want to change - like salary, team, department. If you have fully made up your mind - which is what I advise in the video, they can't hold you, hostage, to stay in the company, and yes, sending the resignation letter to his email, copying your HR department is the course I would suggest. Best of luck!!
