grinding can be heard at 2:00 no idea if that is loud or not because of the talking ... so much information that doesn't help me one bit. i would need to know: 1: how loud is it actually, get a db meter. 2: how to dial it in and 3: how consistent is the result in grind setting and amount.

I have the older model (50mm burrs) and use every day (for the last 3 years). I can tell you it is quiet. I don't have a db meter but I'm definitely impressed with the grinder and when comparing to the grinders you hear in coffee shops this one is definitely way quieter. the dial is great for fine adjustments to the grind and I've hardly made any changes since I set it up 3 years ago and I can say compared to some other (cheaper) grinders I've used this one is very consistent. I'm watching this because I am looking for another grinder for decaf and I want to know if there is any point getting the upgraded machine (or just get another one the same). I don't agree that you can simply switch hoppers to switch from caffeinated to decaf there would still be at least one full grinds worth in the machine after the switch and some beans do go over the floor/counter.

Its basically A Mignon Specialita without the digital display and its not espresso only you can now buy 55mm burrs for filter coffee.
