Boy I’ve struggled with this. The amount of KZbin channels and other creative things I’ve tried to start. It really can get overwhelming. I find if I force myself to produce, produce, I end up hating that thing even if I started out loving it. So exactly as you said, breaks are so important. I’m now thinking of it like my creative projects are the other kids in the neighborhood and if I’m giving them more attention than I am to myself of course I’m going to start to hate them. Haha balance, balance is key

It’s hard to say ‘the worst’ in comparison to something genuinely diabolical, like crystal meth; but the worst, yes, as they are so difficult to avoid. Look at how many new Costas and Starbucks are springing up everywhere. They know how much people need ritual.

Most heartfelt honest and impactful video about this topic that I have come across. Spoken from real experience. And if I may share mine here: as someone who has been conscious about my addictions for years (weed, cigarettes, sugar, caffeine) I can tell you: it will be a long journey to escape these addictions. They absolutely are mental and physical. It will make your life seem worse before it becomes way better than you remembered. Cause you totally forgot what it’s like to not be on some socially acceptable drug and so you were always on edge. But when you try and try even after dozens of relapses and you know you’re doing the right thing and you start to see improvements and you sleep better and then function better, you will know intuitively that this is a better way to live. You don’t need clinical studies to tell you what is right and wrong. Don’t get twisted and caught in the web of modern day science. It’s all intellectual gymnastics and propaganda at best. And lastly, it starts with self honesty. All you have to do is to be honest with yourself (either journal it or introspect about it) but if you can’t even do that then that’s where you need to start working from first.

I found out about c-PTSD while being treated for a personality disorder I only vaguely related to. My mind was completely blown. I knew I had a different childhood, but I had somehow blocked most of it from my memory. Within a week of finding out, I was having extreme emotional flashbacks and all my memories started comping back. It felt like an ongoing panic attack that lasted months. I tried talking to the psychiatrist at the treatment facility. He knew nothing about complex trauma and was super dismissive, so it felt like I had to go through the trauma alone, while being in therapy. I often wonder how many people are out there with undetected c-PTSD, I think there are a lot. Thank you for talking about it!
