Coming from an owner of an rs, a tune fixes the snatchy throttle and the decel fuel cut along with a lot of other things. Use Motul 7100t oil and it smooths out the gearbox a ton.

I do luv the norton commando since TVS have massively improved reliability and especially QC. When the 1200 bonneville is not much cheaper but inferior in fit, finish and specs and also the Norton is without all the nightmare of rider aids and dodgy electronics, i have confidence in its lasting well especially now that crook Stuart Garner has been gone over 3 years ago. , yes the w800 is nice but no relation to the beautiful BSA frames that were so well made and handled so well.i had a BSA A10 for years, pushrod operated valves, low revving 5750 red line but the fun was in low down torque, over 65 mpg and magneto ignition. With oils today, if you dont hammer them, the single carb iron head golden flash is reliable apart from 6v joe lucas electrics. The switch roller in the headlamp was iffy but it would start and run straight off the magneto and the sound through the exhaust was beautiful and only the Norton commando sounded better and the original late 1960s early 70s royal enfield interceptor which is on paper the best balanced crank, best parallel twin since the original 1triumph tiger 100 of 1939 or the 1947 original rigidframed BSA A7 twin. There were other great british engine makers, especially JAP and some others like Matchless, Ariel and Vincent who were way ahead of their time and Velocette AJS and others. Some utilitarian for sidecar hauling like Panther. Like early prewar Harleys on Wheels through time, this wonderful era of historic bikes like Henderson 4s Indians and knucklehead models are long gone and even a wla45 harley costs a fortune as does BSA M20 despite so many being made for the army in WW2.

Hi there Bert I hope this message finds you well, I’m reaching out in regards to the TTP tune I bought for my 2012 EFI Thruxton 900. I just installed a British Customs 2-1 exhaust, as well as did the air box delete with k&N pod filters, and removed the air injection/SAI system. When I go to load up the tune I never get a flashing red light at all. I’ve tried for 2 days straight and still no change not even getting the red flashing light, if you have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Best, Nico

@bertsbike 13 күн бұрын
@@nicholsxII Hi there. If you're not getting a red light, it may mean the bike isn't talking to the computer at all... Cause it should go Red, Amber, Green. The only things I would suggest is to uninstall and reinstall the drivers before plugging in your cable. Also make sure your cpu is compatible with the tune software. Lastly I hope you have their OBD cable... If none of the above works I would contact them directly. They're pretty great about returning emails. Haven't had to call before tho. Hope you get it sorted!

The snatchy throttle is my biggest complaint in terms of rideability. For me it's more intrusive with more aggressive riding. The way it brings fuel back after engine braking upsets the bike in a corner. I feel more confident on my 1989 Katana 750 than my 2023 RS SE, despite the far superior brakes and suspension of the latter. The thing I don't like about the cosmetics is how soft the clearcoat is. I'm planning to do some paint correction and ceramic coating.

Ceramic is overrated IMO. Been down that road, not wasting my $$. Paint quality is as good, if not the best of any paint I've ever had - including cars. After enough spray wax, spray detail, all I need to do is a quick hand wax/polish using my all-time favorite wax. Oddly, it's nothing exotic, and trust me, I've gone way, way down the rabbit hole with expensive EVERYTHING. For whatever reason, out of ALL of them, a kind of plain jane Meguiers NXT liquid wax has been the best (always comes off easy too). Got rid of all the spidering on mine. We have very hard water that's terrible for paint. Unless I get a deionization machine, it's just the reality. I've overcome the snatchy throttle by finesse. But, yes, best to flash it, for many reasons.

Great video. Thanks. Question: I have a z650rs and the manual doesn’t say what size crush washer I need. Is it a standard size you bought online? Also my manual says my bike needs to be vertical to do the oil change. Is it crucial I do this? And lastly I don’t know how much new oil I should add: it says different amounts for three situations: when filter is removed, when filter is not removed, or when engine is completely dry. Which do I use?
@bertsbike
@bertsbike 16 күн бұрын
Any shop can tell you what it is... I'd check before purchase cause the oil bolt is a bigger size than what I'm used to. I just followed the steps in the owners manual. The way that the drain is designed, keeping it on the side stand makes sense. It is always better to add a little at a time rather than too much. I'd do like 3.75 bottles and check the level. Then add more as needed. Easier to add to than to take out. I ended up using all 4 bottles if I remember correctly.
