People who are trying to twist the scriptures like the false prophets and leaders and priest. It's slippery slope. Where does it end incestual relationships or pedophilia if love is love as they say you can't stop the ball from rolling. People will be lost by the false teachers of today. Paul warns in every epistle he wrote about false doctrines.

Thoughts on the right to abortion to save the life of the mother ... First, I acknowledge that pregnancy rarely presents a physical threat to the mother's life, and, where it does, the medical system is equipped to respond. This is a philosophical query into whether a woman defending a legitimate threat on her life would be committing murder if she aborted the pregnancy that was the source of the threat. Consider this scenario ... A steep narrow road ascending a mountain is 1 3/4 car-widths across. On one side of the road, a sheer 1,000-foot drop-off. On the other, a sheer wall rises 1,000 feet. Fortunately, every 300 yards on the drop-off side, turnouts allow vehicles driving in opposite directions to pass by each other. You are driving up the mountain with a 1,000-foot drop-off on your right and 3/4 of a car-width separating you from a solid rock wall. You notice a vehicle coming toward you at great speed, it's driver frantically trying to slow down. He can't. His brakes have failed. But at least he has the inside lane. You, on the other hand, will be pushed into the 1,000-foot abyss when his fast-approaching car hits yours ... unless you can reach the turnout. You can't. He's coming too fast and he's already too close. As a Christian driver, are you obligated to stay on your side of the road, with the certain knowledge you will be forced over the cliff, and die? Or, would you be guilty of murder if you drove your car as close to the wall as possible, forcing the innocent other driver to go over the cliff? Or, perhaps, should you do a hard right and intentionally drive your vehicle off the cliff to optimize the other driver's chances of surviving? Is there a right to protect your life from the unintentional -- but likely fatal -- actions of another?

Let's examine Exodus 21's application to the issue of abortion: Exodus 21 presents case law for adjudicating assault cases. Moses begins with the proposition that if you assault someone and they die, your life is required (v 12), with the caveat that striking or cursing a parent or kidnapping another brings death even though no one was killed (v 15-16). Verses 13 and 14 bifurcate the lex talonis of verse 12 by distinguishing between intentional taking of life and one who kills accidentally. In the latter case, provision is made for fleeing to a city of refuge for sanctuary until the matter can be authoritatively resolved. The remainder of the chapter's discussion of assaults probes the limits of punishment for one who strikes but does not kill (v 18-27). Note the repeated use of terms indicating no fatality has resulted: "he does not die," "if the slave gets up," "but there is no serious injury." Moses, using a social-hierarchy framework, parses three cases where assaults likely to cause death occur, but death does not result -- a freeman striking a freeman, a master striking a slave and brawling men inadvertently injuring a pregnant woman and her unborn child. He covers the gamut of Hebrew society -- from freeman to fetus. Where death does not occur, a variety of civil remedies that vary somewhat by the victims' status exists to compensate the injury. But where death occurs, the passage concludes, it's life for life. "There shall be one law for all," Moses said in Leviticus. It bears repeating that these three cases are all juxtaposed against the same scenario where the assailant kills his victim and is executed. The three cases: Verses 18 and 19 take the case generalized in verse 12 head on and specify if the freeman-on-freeman assault does not result in death, the assailant is punished with less than the death penalty. His victim's injury has market value and he must be recompensed accordingly. Verses 20 and 21 make the same case for assault on a slave -- if an injury likely to cause death does not kill, the master is not executed (In verses 26 and 27, there are requirements to compensate a slave with a grant of freedom for certain severe injuries that were never life threatening in themselves. There, the injury is monetized by setting the price at emancipation). Verse 22 then addresses the case where the victim is an innocent bystander -- in this instance, a woman and her unborn child/children. It should be noted that the bystander was not the intended victim and the injury was not intentional, but, nonetheless, is treated as though intentional. If less than serious injury occurs, the assailant is not executed. That the focus is on the miscarried child/children should be evident from the fact he/she was even included in the scenario. The structure is clearly designed to span the social strata of Israelite society and show the stretch of the law -- from freeman to fetus. Had the issue of dead/not dead been relevant to the woman victim alone, there was no need to include the child/children. And if a fetus does not have the protection that comes from holding the death penalty over his murderer, what about toddlers and adolescents who are left out of this passage? Further, it can be argued that the woman, whatever status Israelite society of the period afforded her, was included already by the application of the law to victims who were free men or slaves. The passage manifestly does not leave the unborn to the capriciousness of brawling men. Their inclusion here is inclusive, not exclusive. Further, if the child's unintended death here requires the death penalty, how much more in the case of intentional abortion. It's worth noting that in verses 23-25, the lex-talonis principle is fully reiterated in a formulaic summary, acting as a complimentary bookend to verse 12. That it may be a rare event to cause a miscarriage and produce an uninjured child -- particularly in the Bronze Age Near East -- is irrelevant. This is case law and its purpose is to establish legal boundaries and analogues for judges to use in determining fault, punishment and restitution. _IF_ the child lived and you were the assailant, it is to this principle you would appeal to preserve your life. Note that the husband fixes the penalty for the nonfatal injury. _HE_ is the market for the value of the woman and/or her child/children. He sets the price for recompense. Likewise, the master whose beaten slave lives ... he is not punished because the slave is his property. He would only be financially compensating himself. For what it's worth, the brawling-men example is a common one in Ancient Near-East legal codes -- Google: "When Two Men Fight: Legal implication of Brawling in the Ancient Near East"

Firstly, I appreciated this conversation. I continue to have so much respect of Dr. Sean McDowell. He’s an excellent interviewer and moderator. It may seem impossible right now. But the truth is that an extreme form of forced Christianity is actually prophesied in the book of Revelation. Don’t get me wrong. It will take a miracle (Revelation 13:13-14). In the US, yes, we do have a constitution that prevents the government from establishing a state religion or preventing the free exercise of it. Yet earlier this year, a state government passed legislation requiring the ten commandments to be displayed in public school classrooms. In a different state, the superintendent of a public school system mandated that all classrooms must have a bible and teachers of certain grade levels must teach from it. Others have mentioned the NAR movement and the 7 mountains mandate that is literally a plan to take over 7 sectors of life, including government, for God. There are pastors in the US saying a vote against the now President-elect was a vote against God himself. There are several so-called prophets declaring the President-elect as God’s chosen vessel. And certainly specific sections of Project 2025 are cause for serious concern. While everything I’ve mentioned is not blatant Christian Nationalism, that we are trending in this direction is patently clear. Now, is this an extreme response to some of the extremism we’ve seen on the left. Yes. For this is the enemy's plan. Again, I know it sounds far-fetched. And it will take a miracle. Revelation 13 mentions two beasts: one from the sea and one from the earth. The second beast, the one from the earth, has horns like a lamb, but speaks as a dragon. And this second beast essentially creates an image to the first beast, which is the beast from the sea, and forces the world to worship this first beast. A study of bible terms in prophecy reveals that a beast is a kingdom or a nation, and seas represent heavily populated areas with people who speak different languages. The beast that arose from the sea is a kingdom that arose from a largely populated area. A study of the book of Daniel identifies this power as the Christian church empire during the Dark Ages which operated a church-state system of government. The beast that arose from the land, conversely, is a nation that arose from a sparsely populated area with lamb like (Christ like) qualities, but actually speaks as a dragon. This beast from the earth will have all the power of the church-state system that came before it. Again, it will take a miracle. And also keep in mind that according to Revelation, worship is at the core issue in this end time picture. So the controversy is not between those who worship God and those who do not worship. The controversy is over what type of worship… Either worship from the heart out of free will and faith or worship that is forced. This forced worship happened in the past within professed Christendom when the beast from the sea ruled the nations of Europe. It will happen again on a global scale according to Revelation when the beast from the earth enforces it. I understand this is a different view of end time prophecy than most Christians are familiar with, so it sounds foreign. I would ask that you not dismiss it out right, but rather study further. So again, it may seem far-fetched, and perhaps several people who are on the left are misusing the term Christian Nationalist against genuine Christians who simply express biblical moral beliefs. But Christian Nationalism, which will actually turn into Christian Globalism, is the existential threat to God’s people at the end of time… and we are seeing the groundwork for it being laid now. God wants us to be aware. Blessings!

I grew up on Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith, but the first CD that I purchased myself was Newsboys: Take me to your leader, in 1996. I had listened to their tapes that my sister had and really enjoyed their songs. I was also discovering dc Talk around that time, along with Jars of clay, Third Day, etc. There was nothing like the 90s for CCM. As far as deconstructing, I think people have always done this, we just called it "backsliding" back in the day, and the world has gotten more aggressive in recent decades with the Internet and social media, now everyone can share their doubts and opinions no matter who they are, without an immediate answer or response from anyone like you'd have in a local church or small group. The world always finds ways to cast doubt on God's Word, and so many people don't have answers ready. The church sometimes focuses too much on just getting people saved and into the church without enough focus on discipleship and study of the Word as a community. Hebrews talks about moving on from the basics, and some of what the author lists as foundational stuff we should already be familiar with is stuff that the church rarely talks about, like repentance from dead works (man-made religion or worldviews), the resurrection from the dead, etc. He wants to talk about more advanced things related to the priesthood of Christ in heaven (which no one even thinks about, let alone discusses), but his audience has become dull of hearing and needs the basics again. We certainly need to keep preaching the gospel message, but it's so much more than just "Jesus died so you can have a better life and go to heaven someday." God's plan is so much bigger than a lot of people realize, and the enemy's schemes are so much more pervasive and persuasive to those who aren't established in the Word.

FINALLY! A PERSON WHO PAYS ATTENTION TO SCRIPTURAL DETAILS! If rejecting salvation is the "ultimate" sin that cannot be forgiven, then every person only has ONE TIME to repent (since such would be unforgiveable). The unforgiveable sin, in CONTEXT, is claiming the Holy Spirit is a demonic spirit (Mark 3:30).

God is the same today, as he was yesterday, and will be forever *UNCHANGING* . He calls same-sex anything an abomination . He HATES it. Why? Because it is all based on PLEASURE AND LUST. Not based on the function of marraige which is to PROCREATE. What future comes from a same sex union? NONE because it CANT make a future. In fact we are literally told that if we are offended by a brother or sister For Sinning, we first go to that person and explain why, then if they do not repent, we take it to two other members of the church, and if they still refuse to Repent, we take it to the head of the church, who is to CAST THEM OUT do that their body be destroyed by the devil and hope that their soul may be saved ( how? By choosing to REPENT.) This new age theological stuff has NO PLACE within the traditions of the Church. The REAL Church is the same as it has always been, has not added to or changed tradition ( aka NOT CATHOLIC), does not elevate anyone above another and stays the same as God Stays the same, 2000 years and the church is still the same church and it is open to all to come and see, there is only Orthodoxy, the narrow gate.

Ripping something to pieces should hit some alarm signal in any sane persons mind. I guess there could be debate about more gray area situations when the fetus is very young. One of the arguments against the famous bible verse could be that it's just a song and could be interpreted as peotic, so life might not begin at conception. For example if an embryo can be cryofreezed for a long period (so killed) and brought back to life than we could assume it had no soul and in that case one could argue ... I don't know if this was ever tested or if it is possible to test. There are a few cases when this could help, like when you don't know that you are pregnant and kill the baby with negligence and you make an involuntary abortion. Murder by negligence is still murder right? Or the classic rape case, or teen pregnancy, or illnesses when you have to choose who should be saved. Now I don't want to make any case for abortion of course, just thinking about way to determine and end this debate somehow with clear scientific evidence which goes hand in hand with the bible.
@thejabberwocky281913 сағат бұрын
Giving a certain class of humans special rights over other humans that no one else has should set alarm bells off in any sane persons mind. But of course, you're using the example of less than 7% of abortions to try to morally discredit the entire set, so sanity is not to be expected from you.
@tinathecarboholic12 сағат бұрын
In the legal system killing someone out of negligence is considered manslaughter and not murder. Is removing a fetus by c section considered an abortion if there is over a 50% chance it will die? How close to death does a woman have to be for an abortion to be considered medically necessary? I have so many gray area questions.

I can only give my personal testimony. I was very angry with the church and the Lord since my ex wife left me for a married youth pastor. The church turned its back on me, and embraced her and her new beau's "ministry". I felt abandoned and betrayed by the church and have gone through many more trials since. All I ever got was "have you ever read the book of job?" when I was reading my bible front to back for decades and they barely dusted theirs off. I got sick of the dog a pony show church turned into and I got sick of the feminization of the church. And since being on here, I am not the only one that feels this way. NO ONE in the church has the guts to do some house cleaning. I have only recently begun praying again. Please pray for the strengthening of my faith.
