In my experience, Evangelical Protestants pushed me away and the rejection I felt from the people who were actually just secular but in the club on surface level but the rejection I felt lead me to atheism and I was on the edge to satanism. Worship leader here, I grew up in the faith. I grew up more fundamentalist and legalistic for sure. My mom things if someone has a specific hairstyle (locks) they cannot be Christian.
