I didnt see anyone's comment talking on these specific points, so I'll highlight them myself: - 8:10 Maybe Im misunderstanding & confused, but it wasn't clear to me why you'd try judge Misa's “taste in men” when she had all the reasons to be a Kira worshipper of those you understood why she'd (12:14) & girls around his age have consistently been seen fawning over him throughout the show, whether they know him well as a person or not. She went crazy with the admiration too, seeing that instead of just staying as an appreciator & grateful benefiter, she also took all the extra steps to become a full-on murderer, desperate to get to know him, the lengths way beyond any normal person would go to. - 36:20 using Ryuk as an example, & in fairness the only other significant Shinigami so far to look at, to point to & say the otherworldly Shinigamis r daft seems unfair for Rem given he feels far more oblivious to this game compared to her cuz first, since he doesn't have anything/one to lose & care to be attached towards, he may not understand Light & his way of thinking that well [tbf he can grasp situations quickly, tho even while not comprehending initially] & second, Light... doesn't bother spoiling the episodes for him if I wanna put it amusingly. All of that is the complete opposite of Misa's connection with Rem, such that this talkative girl seems pretty revealing of her thought process & experiences to her Shinigami, & in turn, Rem grows even more actively interested to partake & back her side, smth Ryuk has said himself he'd never intend doing, neither on his own nor if asked to.

Even though the reaction at the news of L's passing is so different between Mello and Near, in the manga, we get more scenes of Near mentioning this fact in other contexts. He advocates for Mello's actions by saying: "At the orphanage, we all respected and admired L. Knowing that Kira has killed our mentor, you can't really blame Mello for resorting to extreme measures can you?" Or in the How to Read where it's said that Near does respect L and his hostility towards Kira is even more intense than L.

Regarding your mention that Light had never met Mogi, in the manga, L literally says to the Chief that the reason for choosing Mogi to spy on Light is that Light does not know Mogi as a member of the task force.

Regarding Misa, I think it's worth noting how willing she was to kill the man Higuchi made her kill in order to prove she was the second Kira. Even though Rem is the one who killed the man, Misa can easily be the one to take the blame for this death, and it doesn't seem to phase her that much.

Actually, during the tennis match, Light is the one in a blue shirt, while L uses a red tennis racket!! Just noticed that!

I can imagine a short story of Light and Ryuk playing video games together with internal monologues between the two on how one would win, similar to the Light and L tennis match.

I feel like Lelouch assuming that Nunnally's blindness could eventually be cured could just be cause the world they live in already has very advanced medical technology and thus assumed that within Nunnally's lifetime someone would invent some sort of cure for blindness. Or, at least that's how I initially understood it. Also, in the first episode, the truck driver probably wasn't directly shot by the nightmare, it's more likely that a shard of glass from the window which was clearly broken right in front of him got lodged in his shoulder when the glass broke. Also also, I feel like Lelouch shouldn't've assumed that he can only use geass on a person once cause it would've been just as likely that it simply had a cooldown.

Its not that lelouch cancelled it- Geass does not require maintained eye contact- only when being applied- and once the target fulfills all the conditions of the command given, it wears off. Clovis told lelouch all he knew about what he was asked and so it wore off, as Lelouch made no other requests of him at the time.

My reaction to somebody accusing me of being Kira would really depend on when it happened, let me explain. When I first watched death note my dad was a free man and last year my dad was incarcerated. If Kira actually was real then my dad would most likely be dead, so if somebody accused me of being Kira now I’d probably be pissed off and/or shocked. If somebody were to ask me before my dad was incarnated I’d probably just be shocked instead of offended.

I’d like to comment something about Light’s actions. Light is implied to have killed people only accused of crimes. This kinda of feeds into my idea that he has a “it doesn’t matter if I kill too many, it matters if I kill too few” mindset that many dictators have had in history. That level of empathetic disconnect is disastrous or only for others but for him. The more he kills the more evidence they have. I really have to say, Light is a really well made character!
