You can use red beets juice for red coloring if they don’t have acccess to red bean curd.
@SikfanKitchen11 күн бұрын
Absolutely! Beet juice is a great alternative for natural red food coloring. If you use beet juice in this recipe, make sure to add more soy sauce & oyster sauce to compensate for the saltiness that the bean curd would have provided. Taste test & adjust accordingly!

@@mcgoo721 they are red currants and yes they are edible. Cranberries are a great option too!

@SikfanKitchen I was afraid of that! Fresh currants are never available here. Cranberries do look nice too, but those bundles of smaller, brighter connected berries are beautiful.

This Cha Siu recipe looks incredible! 😍 I love that you’re using fermented red bean curd instead of artificial coloring-it makes it so much healthier and authentic. The marinade sounds delicious, and I can already imagine how tender and flavorful the pork will be after roasting. Those charred edges are definitely the best part! I can’t wait to try making this at home. Thanks for sharing such a fantastic recipe! 🍖✨

Kosher salt on pork... that's an ironic oxymoron...
@SikfanKitchen26 күн бұрын
@@mystik.mermayde.aotearoa Kosher salt and kosher meat are two completely different concepts. Kosher salt…refers to type of salt used for curing and preserving meats. It is usually a coarser, flakier salt than regular table salt. "Kosher meat" on the other hand, refers to meat that has been prepared and certified according to Jewish dietary guidelines.
@mystik.mermayde.aotearoa26 күн бұрын
@SikfanKitchen yes i do know that. But obviously the entire concept of kosher salt is Jewish... Hence the name. And hence it being oxymoronic to use "kosher" salt on pork, which is banned in Judaism. I'm aware it's just another name for rock salt/sea salt and not a specifically jewish salt. And still think your recipe looks delicious. This just hit me as a little strange...

@@mystik.mermayde.aotearoa I see… everyone is entitled to their own views… just know that kosher salt wasn’t used in any intent to offend anyone …
