I built one for a backup on a 17 footer. Sure its noisy and slow, but it sure beat paddling and got me home in a pinch. I don’t recommend for everyday use, but it’s better than a poke in the eye😂

Where fine big huge piece of scrap like that? All the scrap I can find is just that, SCRAP. Not massive long untouched beams and sheets. Big stuff like that is not able to do anything with because it's part of a machine which hasn't been cut apart. Has to be cut small to be able to be put in some of the equipment at my local scrap yard. Your either very lucky or decieving us and buying the metal

If you have a real outboard motor you won't go that way anymore. It so long and bulky as what others say a real outboard of that size is very cheap now.

Sounds over propped. Less pitch and more rpm's would get you some more speed and response. And would probably be healthy for your 2 stroke. Nice job, I've done a few hobby boats just like that. 👍

Nice, I would just add an exhaust pipe redirection tube so the noise and hot gas face towards the rear instead of towards the captain.
