Just get the RF 16mm 2.8. Cheaper wide angle and great in low light conditions.
@WilkinsonCameras39 минут бұрын
Thanks for watching 😊 Remember that 16mm is the equivalent focal length of just over 25mm, which isn't super wide on an APS-C camera, so for vloggers who want to put more of the scene in the frame, a 10-18mm offers much more versatility. You're also going to crop into that with active stabilisation. If you look at 2:23, where Olivia is at 18mm, and 2:46, where it's filmed at 10mm, 10mm is much wider and much better for general vlogging. 16mm would be ok, but skip to 3:05, where we start the IS tests and imagine you're shooting at 16mm and need to use the enhanced digital IS function; at 16mm, you'll be VERY tight to Olivia's face. If someone needs an inexpensive prime lens for vlogging, the RF 16mm is a reasonable consideration. However, what sets this Sigma lens aside is its build quality, image quality, and flexibility, thanks to its zoom range. All this for just an extra 95g. Yes, it's a lot more expensive, but you're getting a lot more. It's going to come down to budgets and requirements (as for most things!) for the individual. So, for vlogging content, we recommend either the Canon RF-S 10-18mm, the Sigma 10-18mm or the Tamron 11-20mm (we haven't tested this yet), depending on the budget.

Autofocus on both is still crap compared to other manufacturers. Mirrorless is not worth the switch. The Z8 is the same camera as the Z9 without the added grip! Truth. Z lenses are too expensive. Buy a D850 or D6 and enjoy all ur Nikon lenses. The FTZ adaptor is crap and u hardly get any photos in perfect focus. My D3 shoots better sports than any mirrorless. Follow Ken Rockwell, he suggests switching to canon 🤷🏻♂️
@WilkinsonCameras22 сағат бұрын
Sounds like you haven't personally tried the latest mirrorless cameras, but if you're happy with your Nikon D3 and it does what it needs to do for you, then that's all that matters and we hope you enjoy taking photos with it for a long time. But, a LOT has changed in camera technology in the 17 years since the launch of the D3, so when you do upgrade, regardless of the brand you choose, you're going to be impressed with how far AF and other features have come.

Got one on the way! Olympus has always been my go-to and my absolute favorite will always be the 20 megapixel Olympus PEN-F, which is such a nice portable thing to carry around, with the pancake lens attached. That will always be my absolute go-to where focal length isn't a concern. That F still looks just as amazing today as it did 10 years ago. However? I'm getting another kit back that's capable of doing birds in flight, so I'm pushed into the OM models again.

Great review about this camera, but I was wondering between this camera and Sony ZVE 10 Mark 2, which is better to start with. I’m interested more in filming but also I would like to shot some great photos.
@WilkinsonCameras4 күн бұрын
Thank you! Personally, I’d recommend the Fujifilm X-M5. The video specs slightly outshine those of the Sony ZV-E10 II. The X-M5 offers 6.2K/30p, 4K/60p, and FHD/240p, which delivers stunning detail and you will have the added flexibility of slow-motion. You also have Fujifilms film simulations which are great for both stills and video! Hope this helps :)

Thank you 😊 It was a very long day! We left our houses at 7am and got home around 10pm… and spent most of the following day (Saturday) recovering 😅 What we didn’t have the ability to safely film was the sheer weight of all the kit and the struggle to get it up and down the climb. Neither of us needed to visit the gym that weekend after that! - Alex

Is the 50mm 1.4 as sharp as the 50mm 1.2?
@WilkinsonCameras3 күн бұрын
The RF 50mm F1.4 is impressively sharp and holds its own very well, but the RF 50mm F1.2 still has a slight edge in ultimate sharpness and low-light performance. The F1.4 offers a great balance of image quality, size, and price, making it a strong choice for many photographers!

It really depends on how you’re planning to use it! 😅 From personal experience, the magnet is plenty strong for most content creation scenarios. Unless you’re doing something extreme, like dangling it out of a speeding car, I wouldn’t worry too much. For everyday use, it’s been rock-solid in my experience!

@@WilkinsonCameras Glad you like it. But I'll wait for a more system agnostic setup that doesn't come from a corrupt ecosystem. Usually those solutions work well, and they work for everyone, less divisive. Less bullying on BS patents.

When you mention considering this as a camera to upgrade to for E-M10 users, are you thinking of the E-M10 III or the E-M10 IV? I currently own the IV and I'm stuck on the fence about moving up to the OM-5 from all of the current reviews about it.

What are you shooting with currently? And what subject? We’ve tested a lot of cameras in various situations and can honestly say that there’s very few scenarios where anyone would truly *need* more than 20 frames per second, especially when you consider the modern AF capabilities of flagship cameras and lenses.

Thank you. I am 90% stills. I have the "old" 70-200 2.8 AND the 100-500. I also have the two RF teleconverters. I am tossing around selling my 70-200 AND my 100-500 and buying this lens with the idea of using it with one of the tele converters when needed for some sports and wildlife (rare). Not sure.
@WilkinsonCameras3 күн бұрын
The RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM is a fantastic lens-compact, lightweight, and incredibly versatile, especially with the RF teleconverters. However, the 100-500mm offers unparalleled flexibility for wildlife and sports. If those use cases are rare for you, consolidating to the RF 70-200mm with teleconverters could streamline your kit without losing too much functionality. It really depends on how much you value the extended reach and the specific scenarios you shoot.

Hi Philip, Southport have a good selection of the Photogenic T’s and other nice items for you to see in store if you want a closer look. They’re all designed and made in the USA and are small batch, hand screen-printed - so they do cost a little bit more, but they’re something different and not mass-made so hopefully you’ll like them when you see them 😊 www.wilkinson.co.uk/brands/photogenic/

9:29 7.5-stop Stabilization THEORATICALLY 🙄 I admit that new lenses have much better optics, but picture resolutions are increasing everyday. If you pair this (on high-res camera) with some 10-year-old combo, there will be a tiny difference in performance. I guess this new lens was designed for hybrid shooters rather than fulltime photogaphers.
@WilkinsonCameras14 күн бұрын
The lens is 5.5 stops (which we do say in the video too) or up to 7.5 stops with a body with IBIS. Please remember that as an RF lens js it designed specifically for EOS R mirrorless series cameras and can’t be combined with Canon’s older DSLR cameras.

Last Nikon that i used regularly was a N60 film camera..but since appearantly..i needed to see what apature,iso and speed did so i could now intuitively adjust..i laid off for a while Picked up a D6 for my main line (rugby,Surfers) but looking at either the Z8-9 for portraits,event and other things. Leaning to the Z9 because of commonality of batteries and media. Video autofocus,low light sensitivity and quality is most important. Thank you very much for the presentation

For a short time you can purchase the OM1 MK1 from OMD SYSTEM WEB site for 1100 dollars US. this is a new camera, comes with a compact flash that attches to the hot shoe and runs of of the camera battery. You get a USB coard to charge the battery in camera, the battery charger is sold separately and is a dual battery charger that is not cheap, i bought an after market charger, it's a single charger with a battery around 80 dollars on AMAZON, they have cheaper options but I wanted a better quantity.
