One tip I'd add to your recap is just to use google street view on your accommodation and just do a virtual tour of the neighborhood, there's a lot of crucial details there that can be super useful. For example, I almost booked this hotel in Singapore situated in a very "strategic location" but when I did the virtual tour I would have to go through an underpass to cross the street which had no escalator which is super inconvinent for me with a baby and a stroller.

An honest advice from Malaysian, do not take away your durian. This is because durian pungent smell will get more pungent when outside its husks. Especially in that plastic container. Plus, your air conditioned living room. It will fill up your living room.

There are so many durian variations which taste completely differently! That's right! "D24" and "XO" have strong alcohol taste. For first timers - always try "Red Prawn". You will be surprised. P/s: Durians should taste better if refrigerated.

It's so nice to see the family together bonding and trying Durian the king of fruits🤣, in Malaysia we got different kinds with different price points and first time is always a hit or miss. Maybe a few more tries and you'll get used to it. Also, hypothetically you plan😉on dining in a durian restaurant, you can ask the staff to recommend durian types for beginners to experienced. If you're a bit daring, some food stalls/restaurants serve Tempoyak which is fermented durian.

@@nomadfamilyjourney I got this through google : "Durians should not be eaten with alcohol, coffee, spicy foods, and certain meats and seafood due to the potential for adverse reactions in the body. Durian is a food that is high in fat and carbohydrates. Alcoholic beverages also provide high energy. When eating durian with alcohol, the body receives too much energy, causing blood sugar levels to rise rapidly. This leads to increased waste disposal processes". Like I said, if you consume just a small portion of Durian then I guess it should be ok. It applies more to the hardcore Durian lovers.
