People move onto other games I guess. When he stopped playing it was obvious the game was going down a dodgy path of grind and imbalance. He loved open play so that was probably the nail in the coffin

He is the reason I have reset my account so many times and enjoyed the early game in crappy ships. I’ve only unlocked the engineers to build AX ships, all my regular ships are far from optimised and I mostly fly the small ships for fun & challenge. Back in the day not many could fly as well and accurately as he did with FA OFF and it just made everything he done more fun and rewarding to watch. I went full FA OFF for that reason and it changed the game for me. It’s a challenge and engaging just doing regular things in ED with FA OFF and it just feels more like a flight sim.

Yeah, I've often thought about how the game went away from this style of playing it, especially once engineering came around. It basically forces you to cheese the game (resetting instances/etc) because it's so grindy, and you couldn't really have an Isinona type playstyle in Open since you'd just get obliterated by engineered ships. I wish the devs would've re-thought what they were doing at several inflection moments with the game. Isinona's version of Elite was awesome!

@@davidchandler5432 it’s so tempting to cheese things like you said. I tried a isinona type video a few years ago in open from scratch and it was just impossible to go about your business without getting horribly outmatched. A non engineered ship is just so outpowered by what is the norm nowadays and it’s a shame as new players must get fed up so quickly. A can’t believe they haven’t drastically changed engineering, even if you could only engineer ship core modules and not weapons that would make a slightly more balanced playing field. If it was my company I would get rid of it completely and focus on releasing more weapon and ship variations for credits. Scooping/gathering obscene amounts of materials to drastically improve your ship is a horrible game loop and just kills pvp interactions. Maybe a legacy open mode could be introduced and all engineering is removed, pvp would be mostly fixed overnight, power play would benefit, trading would be viable and any materials you find like we do now you can sell as a commodity a bit like rare goods so certain items sell really well in different parts of the galaxy.

​@@bokatan9642I'm a new player and just took my first step into engineering a couple days ago. I was shocked at just how much of a difference G3 dirty drag drives made on my Python, especially after learning FA off by watching your AX videos. That said though, instead of making me feel gratified that I spent the time to work my way up, it made me feel like I had been wasting all of the time I played before engineering my thrusters. Like this was the real game, and what came before it was empty. I like seeing my Python turn faster. But as a balance of game mechanics, it's almost as if you may as well not play without engineering. And the material grind is not engaging

The whole video/series is just a filler tbh. It's more just a way for me to highlight content creators I respect the most. It was one of the few clips that didn't already have music playing over the top. I didn't want to just rip the top pvp clips and to be fair this AI lasted longer then a lot of his PVP battles. Im certainly not logging on and trying to be a camera man so intro segments on this channel will be a bit janky :)

I tried pvp recently and it was just so predictable. same ships, same loadouts and terrible performance. Logging is also way to easy and unpunished. Hopefully one day it will be improved but I think the golden age has been and gone

Glaives make your guardian tech malfunction to the point that they are useless against them. I cant be arsed to engineer a new ship to fight them especially when the only weapons effective against them are gimbal multis and missles. Another stupid decision from Fdev.

@bokatan so me doing even the smallest, most minute input sending me into an uncontrollable flight, it has nothing to do with hardware settings, options, curves, or dead zones? It's essentially just a case of "git gud"?

@@SgtAwesome97 sounds like your sensitivity is way to high from what you have described, I have mine fairly low. You can see from my ships hologram how much I am moving my mouse about (it can be hard to follow with the eye tracker moving the camera about) sorry it’s not much help but I did post a comment on a video recently that linked a screenshot of my mouse settings. I will try and find it for you. I couldn’t fly like I do if my settings weren’t setup right for me but they may a base for you to tinker with. Are you flying hot as or mk?

@bokatan flying twin stick as it feels most natural for me. And I set my joystick curves up where the first 1/3 of the axis on all 3 axis has low sensitivity, yet it seems elite is not recognizing this. I don't know if vkb's software isn't working, but it's frustrating.
