I use a product called chipquik that consists of some low melting point alloy that you replace the original soldr with. It works very well for lead free joints - parts sometimes fall out where previously there was a battle royal to remove them. Flooding the join with leaded solder can also help in a similar way. Chipquik is a real game changer where silver lead free solder is encountered.

I found a lady that suggested Citric Acid (found near canning supplies in the store). In a small non metallic bowl, dissolve 1 tablespoon of citric acid in 2 tablespoons of very hot water. Mix in just enough flour to make a thick paste. Apply to desired area and let sit 5-10 minutes. After the paste has hardened and dried a bit, scrape or rinse the paste off the glass surface. Then wipe the printed ink away with a damp paper towel or microfiber cloth. The ink should come away immediately and completely within a minute of scrubbing. Good luck!

😅 I spent a whole day trying to stick wires with solder to a plug that would just unstick every time. How I managed to stick it without knowing this in the end is a miracle considering it was an ebike. Thanks I think every one who solders without flux needs to see this. Thanks! 👍

Having just tried to do this (hollow out end grain on some logs to make a water feature) I can say Forstner bits dont work on green wood. Hence I came online to find a better way to do it. (probably fine if your logs are dried out though) I made some progress using the small Forstner bits but it would take forever with the small ones. The large bits just dont grab properly on wet end grain. Wish i still had my angle grinder and carving disc! (but its in storage miles away). However for any one else looking to hollow out end grain on green wood id highly recommend one. (but again you will be limited by in terms of depth by how far you can get the angle grinder in)

use your double effect but put ACRYLIC BLOCK in the middle ..this will light up and create a infinity block effect .. BUT ADD LED lights inside the walls of the acrylic block and turn it on then turn on the leds for the infinity mirror

As a professional glazer, I would use a drill bit designed for glass. Drill one hole in each corner then score the glass and continue as shown on this video. To remove the piece easily you need to score the glass diagonally from corner to corner and heat as shown. You will not get a perfect 90 degree corner but you could use a square stick wrapped in sand paper to square up the corner.

Most important is to get a quality wick. I learned this the hard way. The wick i had would not even suck a low temp solder! Even with flux added. Pure garbage basically! Use quality wick and it will work just like in this video!

I put lots of flux on the wick I have put it still will not absorb away the solder. From much googling I found that other reasons for wick not working can be due to the soldering Iron tip: 1. Is not big enough. 2. Is not hot enough. 3. Is not properly "Tinned" so heat can transfer from the tip to the wick.

Thank you for teaching me to add solder to both pads before bridging, and to let the solder cool before adding on. I had some serious mercurial blobs traversing my board. I spent several frustrating hours trying to figure this out! And I couldn't Google the problem without being inundated with basic soldering tutorials. So, thanks again.

@@HowDoYouDIY I've found that using a pair of toenail clippers works very well for cutting the leads. It is more compact than a pair of diagonal cutters and can get closer. I just use the leads from resistors in a kit that have values I don't use. The resistor makes a nice handle that doesn't get hot from the soldering iron when it solders the wires together.

@markcampidonica9567 Those are awesome tips, thanks for sharing! I've seen people use toenail cutters like that, but I haven't tried myself. I especially like your idea of using the leads from resisters like that!

Hi beginner here, right now im trying to fix 2 console controllers a Playstation related controller and a Xbox related controller, both have their analog joystick broken and i got the right equipment and everything but was wondering what solder tip should i use for desoldering and soldering, in the video i saw you were using a fat round tip to desolder and solder back so im guessing some electronics have their prefered tips

So im still not quite sure if we want to have the mirror foil on the inside or outside of the glass, since the foil i bought has the protective layer over the mirror side which normally is placed inside the home or office however i feel like it might be better to paste the other side on the glass panel so the mirror tint is directly exposed to the insides of the infinity mirror and the reflections do no have to pass through the glass, any thoughts?

Multi-layer infinity mirrors with creativity applied to the differences in lighting between each layer. I'd guess there would be a ton of different ways to make the effect less pattern-like this way and that opens up a bunch of different artwork possibilities!
