Excellent presentation!! Purgatory makes total sense if one believes that God is Love and Justice. Heaven is for the pure. Satan rejected God's call for him to submit to God's Will and be an active member of his plan, therefore, Satan was fixed in malice. God beginning Just created a place for Satan that would provide justice and show God's Mercy that place is hell. Hell is devoid of God. God causes the fallen angels now demons great pain because He is the perpetual reminder that they couldn't sacrifice even once. God is perfectly good and the demons are forever perfectly malicious because of their fixed nature. We are not like the demons we are not permanently fixed. We are capable of repenting, therefore, purgatory is God's love for humanity in removing the deep stains of sin. When a soul is faced with God that soul will want God to remove the stains of sin so they can be pleasing to God. The stains of sin are a cancerous guilt that bars you from being perfect, the way God wants us to be perfect. Purgatory is a place of justice and mercy because it requires us to sacrifice and suffer what we what we refused to do here on earth to make reparations for our sins. God is great and merciful!! Vivo Cristo Rey!!

While his arguments for Romans on Purgatory is potentially explanatory, his knowledge of what Luther taught is completely lacking. He even quotes Luther out of context to try to make a point. Please understand his take on Luther and Protestants is completely wrong. However, you may take what he says with a grain of salt because he is so wrong on facts of his argument.

@ From a Roman perspective, yes. But in reality, no. But that is just a deflection from the point I made. That point is, how trustworthy can his commentary be if he completely misportrays what Luther and the Reformers believe or even say. If he cannot be honest about this, then one should suspect what else he says.

But do not worry, we still believe that all true believers in Rome will still be saved, despite the heresies taught by Rome. Better yet, we are more than willing to welcome everyone in Rome back into the historical continuation of the Medieval catholic church, which has been cleansed by the Gospel of Papal corruption and heresies. Remember, Rome walked away from Luther and the Reformers, not the other way around. All of you are welcomed to return to His Church, granted you must openly reject the Roman heresies. Very true. There is a rejection of responsibility for sin. That is the nature of the age in which we live. Politicians have taught us that there is no such thing as consequences for what one does. They have all shoveled the line, "I take full responsibility for x," yet they find a way to make the innocent pay the price for the evil they do. If that is what the "leaders" whom we "elect" do, why shouldn't we do as well. There are some who do enter into the Beatific Vision at the time of the death of the body. Those who receive Apostolic Pardon previous (proximate) to death as part of last rites. That assumes that there is no sin committed between Last Rites and the death of the body. There are also those who, in the process of dying, especially long, drawn out painful process, such as cancers that involve intractable pain, offer his or her suffering, for remission of temporal punishment. Also there are some who, in similar circumstances as concerns the dying process, have, working with the Grace of God, no temporal punishment remaining, offer their sufferings, united to Christ crucified, for the good of the Church, who enter into the Beatific Vision at death. St. Paul speaks of this. Colossians 1:24-29. Are there great numbers of these cases? Likely not. Especially in these times. Most especially because those in Hierarchy have willfully and maliciously misled the faithful for decades. Great analysis of Luther by the way! I think that it is fair to say that he was ill. Scrupulosity is a spiritual disease, which sometimes has a psychological component. Yet and still, the basis of rejection of Purgatory and responsibility for sin is actual quite demonic in nature, rather than psychological.

Amen! I just started reading Fr. Schouppe's century-old classic book on Purgatory. Ironically, I learned of it from evangelical apologist James White who brought it up in his recent debates with Trent Horn and Jimmy Akin, both of whom refused to address its truths, opting instead for the modernist kinder and gentler purgatory that Barron promotes of a flash of illumination. That is NOT the historic teaching of the Church. Thank you for boldly addressing a topic our supposedly top apologists treat as radioactive.

I am not going to say that I am old, but I will say that I found Calvin Coolidge to be a very nice fellow! OK, maybe I'm not that old, but I am old enough to remember before Vatican II. I have lost family members and friends before, during and after Vatican-2. Before Vatican-2, when a person died, the family and friends of the deceased would flock to their parish churches to have Masses said for the deceased. They were not afraid to tell the world that their loved one probably did not waltz right through the gates of Heaven, and would need the God-given power of the Holy Catholic Church to set forth Masses and prayers of reparation to the satisfaction of God, so that God would then release the soul from Purgatory to live in eternal bliss with God. But Vatican-2 has all but suppressed the notion of Purgatory, or the need of expiation for the sins of the dead. Think I'm all wet? check the funeral notices and obituaries of Catholics in newspapers of the 1940's and 1950's. Masses are mentioned and requested all the time. Now check newspapers of the 80's and 90's and beyond, and you find requests for donations to animal shelters or maybe some social justice cause. Make note of the number of times you find Masses specifically requested by the family of a deceased Catholic in newspapers of the last 40 years. It really is sad. Pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, and that includes Masses!

As I understand it (and somebody correct me if I'm wrong), it is possible for those who are genuinely ignorant of the Faith to be saved *however* there is no salvation outside the Church - so if they ever are saved it's because you, a Catholic, prayed and fasted for them. I heard that on Sensus Fidelium, and I hope its true because my family is also not Catholic. Sometimes being a convert is sad.
@cheifhog2552Күн бұрын
@@katydidd6321 Really the best thing to do is to pray and fast for the repose of their souls. God desires the salvation of any person far more intensely than you ever could. He is also both omnipotent and beyond limitations such as time or space. Therefore it’s hypothetically possible that through your intercession a soul may be saved from the eternal fire. Even if you don’t help the person you intended, God won’t let your prayers go to waste and you will aid a Holy Soul in Purgatory whom you did not know. I myself have prayed at a Baptist Cemetery for the repose of the souls of the deceased. Even over tombstones etched with Masonic iconography and there were many. I’ve even prayed for the salvation of my only friend’s soul even though he died in the sin of self-murder. In both cases I am almost positive that everyone I prayed over was lost, however I know that the ultimate decision is still yet unknown and the judge who presides over the decision is both perfect mercy and perfect justice. Then with that knowledge after I pray I leave the judgement to God. Even if the soul I prayed over is lost to the eternal fire I have faith that my intentions will not be wasted. Padre Pio put the Catholic mindset best, pray and don’t worry.

I believe you are right that this is meant to replace the Rosary. The timing is also curious with JP2 promoting it. I was at a Spanish Holy hour at my NO church and they were praying the DMC and they didn't pray the Rosary. Although it is said after the Rosary everyday after morning mass. I will bring this to the Pastors attention that they need to say the Rosary and the not DMC exclusively.

I remember Benedict insisting that he formally resigned the Papacy. How can one resign ONLY the "active" exercise of the papal jurisdiction ( which means you resign possessing it) which is as essential to the possession of the Petrine Office as any other of its divinely instituted powers. Which is to say that you cannot divide that Office and keep it, just as you cannot be an orthodox Catholic and deny even one of the dogmas of the Church. As for the invalid election of Bergoglio, of course he was invalidly elected; but, I contend, not for the reason given here, that Benedict was still the Pope. The heresies that he taught in word and action already in Buenos Aires, made his election impossible, according to the Ex Cathedra Bull of Pope Paul IV "Cum Ex Apotolatus Officio." And Benedict lost the papacy according to Catholic teaching, - if he ever possessed it since he was a manifestly a heretic at the Council and prior to the Council - long before Bergoglio's election - because of the cartload of his manifest, public and pertinacious heresies of his faux papacy. Want proof of this? See: vaticancatholic.com/anti-pope-benedict-xvi/:

How exposing of the "POPE this statement is ! Does "He" not know the Indwelling of Christ automatically changes the nature of a man to include a desire to respond to the distress of another life - Human or Animal ? (Just read the people of NYC's response, last week, to the cruel treatment of a squirrel and a raccoon to know ! ). Why would "He" feel the need to even discuss that which indwells automatically with The "Holy Spirit" ? Uh, Ooh ! 🤔

I'm willing to guess that the majority will be caught off guard when all of a sudden their local green-haired, tattooed, pierced "activist" starts dictating things to them as if though "they/them" were Jesus Christ himself. Truly a diabolical document. I cannot wait for a Pope who loves the Catholic Church to undo all the damage that Bergoglio has done and set the Church once again on a trajectory to glory.

Excellent summary. Thank you. What we are seeing is the playing out of the Alta Vendita (link below) to destroy the RCC. Our Lady foretold this effort at several apparitions, and in the censored “3rd secret” document. -first a false “council” that was invalid and had no authority (so-called V-II). And as God has said “By thy fruits shall thee be known” this false “non-council” has as its fruits the loss of vocations, loss of churches, near destruction of The Mass, and the moral corruption of 90% of the remaining clergy, and 99% of any clergy in Rome. -then add an invalid “resignation” of a pope, and the not valid “installation” of an anti-Catholic high Mason apostate to pretend to be “pope” whose #1 goal is to destroy the RCC from within. -as Bsp Fulton Sheen said (paraphrased) the RCC has become so corrupt in Rome that only a total revolt of the faithful true Catholics (along with the intercession of Mary, and the strength of God) will bring the RCC back to holiness. archive.org/download/alta-vendita-vennari/Alta%20Vendita%20Vennari_text.pdf
