I haven’t installed one of these yet. But I can imagine that would frustrate me to no end. Thanks for the video.

@@GavinStoneDIY hey thanks for watching I’ve seen your channel are you going to do a solar project
@GavinStoneDIY4 ай бұрын
@@GainSolarPower yeah man. Your channel is awesome. Your critical loads video helped me a bunch a while back. I’ve helped with some stuff already , but I don’t record all of it. Just helping family or friends. I’m going to be doing with some smaller installs in the near future. Nothing along the lines of what you do. Just a 6000xp. I’d love to eventually branch out into bigger installs. Wish you were closer and I would sub out all my electrical to you. 😀

does the neutral from the ac-disconnect connected into solark? i'm connecting the neutral into the main sub panel so i only need 1 neutral wire run in side the solark? i'm makine the neutral wire from the load into main sub load panel

I install one neutral per set of conductors

You had fun?

That's basically what i did in in my install. No need for a neutral that big for 99.9% of people though which is making it more difficult than necessary.

@@niktak1114 so you derated the neutral

@@GainSolarPower I did the second time I installed it. The first time I used 2/0 Cu. The second time I used either 1/0 or 1 AWG Al.

If it is aluminum, aren’t you suppose to use that special grease on your connections
@GainSolarPower4 ай бұрын
You don’t have to anymore, it’s no longer required by code but everyone is used to using it so we still use it. This video was for demonstration purposes but we use it on all our connections. The AA8800 aluminum alloy was “perfected” back in the 80’s and the code deemed no lox unnecessary

i am wondering if the US is the only country in the world that uses aluminium cabling
@GainSolarPower4 ай бұрын
@@ursodermatt8809 it’s pretty good stuff. I don’t ever seen it burned up but that will probably change with electric car chargers

And it still took them 20+ years to update the code to recognize it-and some inspectors still insist on it regardless.

Why not cut a hole further back in the tray and box so it could just go straight in?
@GainSolarPower4 ай бұрын
Then you’d have to fight the other conductors. The knockout placement is less than ideal
@balrog0062 ай бұрын
Right, they really just need to be bigger KO’s to fit 3-4/0 Alu and a ground in a single nipple. I had to go with 3/0 copper just to fit them in for my 200a passthru service
