I did not have a tire warranty, but even if i did, my original tires were worn down. They were not impacted by a road hazard, so they would not have been covered.

Those are the Porsche 20" Sport Classic wheels that were an option for the 2014 - 2016 Panamera. I had purchased them to put winter tires on and ended up preferring the fit and look over the Turbo ii wheels that came with the car.

I was in the market for a 2 door sports car with 4 seats as I have 2 young kids that I like to share my car experiences with. I had a BMW M2 and considered to be a bit too refined for me. I've owned Porsche 911s in this price range (991.1 C2S, 997.2 C4S, and 997.1 C2S) and wanted to try something different. When I first drove an Evora 400, I fell in love with the driving feel but preferred the looks of the Evora GT. I did not try an Emira before purchasing the Evora. Aside from the Emira being a 2 seater, I prefer the looks of the Evora GT (purely subjective), although I've since warmed up to the styling of the Emira. I've also heard that the Emira is more refined than the Evora which is going away from what I was looking for. Does having 4 seats matter to you? If not, there are a lot of options. If I were to get a 2 seater, my runner up would be a Porsche Boxster Spyder or Cayman GT4. What other cars are you considering?

I would dearly love to have these wheels when I buy a 2024 Model S, but the streets in the New Orleans area are so bad that I’d have a bent wheel within weeks. I’ll have to stay with the plain 19” wheels to retain my sanity (and wallet). Thanks.

@TheLifeofJoeLee
@TheLifeofJoeLee Ай бұрын
Great to hear! If you plan to drive on the highway frequently, I recommend getting PPF on the entire front end. It so easy to drive fast in this car. My front end has gotten beat up with sand and pebbles kicked up from other vehicles. The rear fender area in front of the rear wheels will get beat up from launching or accelerating hard. Even though there is a small strip of PPF there from the factory, I recommend covering more of that area. I did not get PPF because I didn't think I would hold onto the car for long....I've now had it for more than 2 years and 52k miles. If I were to trade for new or lower mileage plaid down the road, I would get PPF.

I like the way the 21" wheels look but I think a 20" diameter wheel is the sweet spot for the Model S. Everyone: go to firestone and get a lifetime alignment. They know how to align Tesla model S is of any year. Saves a huge amount of money, since especially if you have staggered tires like I do, you can miss the inside of a tire wearing down too early because the suspension isn’t aligned. How funny that Plaid owners regard a 2.5 second 0-60 mph as 'slow!' I can't think of any other cars that aren't either supercars or heavily modified that can get near that. However, I AM shocked at the somewhat lousy range of 270 vs. 320-400 of the other model S's (plural). Wondering if just settling for a 0-60 in the 3 or 4s is a good trade off for getting A LOT better range.
@TheLifeofJoeLee

The car has 2 more economical modes that limit power and acceleration. I've only tried them for short periods to see what they feel like, but have never tried an entire trip in those modes. Out of curiosity, I'm going to try both modes to see how they impact my range. For reference, when I had my 2018 Model 3 Performance which was rated for 310 miles, I was seeing a range of 200 to 220 for the same 160 mile commute and that was cruising at 5 to 10 mph slower than I am in the plaid. Driving above 65 mph has negative impact on range.

@TheLifeofJoeLee - Thanks for the update. I'm contemplating upgrading to a newer S. My 17 100D just completed a 9000 mile cross country trip, and my range at 80% dropped to 249 from 252 - supercharged just about the entire trip. Since the warranty on the battery and drivetrain don't expire until November of 2025, I'm debating picking up a used 2023 Long Range S next year - basically for the range and faster charging on long trips. The battery degradation has been minimal for me at 91,946 miles. About 5.7% over 7 years. Thanks again, Joe! Looking forward to future updates.

Wow, 9000 mile cross country trip! That's awesome! Overall, were you ok with the charging process and time (e.g., charging fit in well with breaks)? The 2023 Model S will have the benefit of having the latest hardware (HW4). You'll be giving up free supercharging - if you do long distance trips often, that can add up. Used is the way to go. I took a huge depreciation hit on my car.

@@TheLifeofJoeLee Sadly, no free supercharging for me, as I bought the car used from Tesla back in 2020. I did get the CCS retrofit - came in handy when I was low and found a ChargePoint CPE250 outside of Yellowstone in Gardiner, Montana. Not a lot of superchargers in that neck of the woods...

Good suggestion - that would be a nice touch! I'll consider that for my next video.
