Another Sail cargo company called, Blue Schooner, lost their ship De Gallant in May of 2024 sailing from Columbia to Europe. It sank off the Bahamas and they lost several crew members. This is very sad and I don't want any hardship to befall any of these companies, but It begs some questions. How safe are these relatively small wooden sailboat cargo ships and will the insurance for these ships and their crew be cost effective? Maybe Elon should be brought in to help you guys out a bit so you can be profitable, safe, and sustainable?

I did a little research and the ship that Sail cargo purchased is the Vega Gamleby and it was moved from Sweden to England in May of 2022 and as far as I know it is still there and has not moved since. Refit? Show us a video of this? Why so long? Not very sustainable?

She literally lives in a sht shack. And after hacking down the forest, the ship never did get finished
@CaptainRon19137 күн бұрын
You would need massive fleets of sailing ships. If you built ships out of wood without burning fossil fuels, you wouldn't have any forests left. Which is exactly what happened in the 17 & 1800's. And to build ships out of materials other than wood, you need massive amounts of fossil fuel energy. How are you going to melt and forge steel & aluminum without fossil fuels? And by the way, your massive wooden fleet will need massive amounts of copper oxide bottom paints so your hulls don't get full of worms in a year. Anyone who invests in this is a fool

Guy's it's really about time that you put out a video to firstly let everyone know how the build is going on the ship and secondly why its over a year since we have had ANY updates from you 🧐🤔

It simply will not fly (sail) reality is a nasty master at times. Its a cumbia idea to give the warm and fuzzies. I am retired boat builder and Master Mariner and from the get go, from their first video I just could not see this being viable. So many issues from the vessel to the implementation of their stated aims are just not feasible. Look at where they are at the time of this video, with all the volunteers and capital raising, its just unsustainable.

@MikeFleming-q1fАй бұрын
You will never finish your first boat and even if you do, you can't make enough money to be sustainable. Ships need to be on-time and efficient to be a sustainable business. You can't make money if it takes you decades to build a single ship. Wind is not consistent enough to be profitable and you will end up sacrificing wages and working conditions for your crew to even try to make money, that's not sustainable. When are we going to see your business plan that answers these tough questions?

How much cost of this woodin cargo ship? And length
@MikeFleming-q1f4 ай бұрын
I really enjoy watching your videos because I'm a woodworker, however I question the future of the project. I suspect that you have run headlong into reality. You have purchased another ship and yet we haven't seen a video showing it delivering products yet. There are many good reasons that shipping went away from wind power and it seems very idealistic of you to think you can make this efficient enough to turn a profit. I could be wrong, but where are the numbers that you have come up with? Goods need to be delivered in a timely manner or customers will stop using your services. I know that you are planning electric power in Ceiba as well as sails, but both are very expensive. Has any ship of Ceiba's size ever been made all electric? How far will you be able to travel on a charge and how and where can you recharge that many cells cost effectively and fast enough to turn around for the next load? What is the projected average speed of Ceiba under electric or sail power and how does this compare to modern shipping? I think you need to produce a serious video that deals with projected costs of maintenance, recharging, number of deck hands and pay, insurance, estimated time of completion, cost of rigging etc. I think the major question is profit margin. Many are now donating their time, but a business can't sustain itself long term that way. How many trips each year and amount of cargo transported will you need to turn a profit? The more I think about this the more questions I come up with. In short you need a business plan video with real world numbers to help us understand how this will work and be sustainable.
