Great video on a great corvette...well done sir. In the early 60's I watched Route 66 and fell in. love with the corvette. It took me till I turned 60 to get one, a triple black 2005 C6. Wish I had the money to get a great C1.

Many knock-down kits were sold for local assembly to small and emerging countries during the production run, and I believe they were still being assembled and sold for years after US production ended. I recall seeing several new-ish Henry Js there into the mid 1960s.

At one point in the mid '90s I was maintaining a Yugo (my girlfriend's) and a Chevette (mine). Both were better to drive than their reputations would have it, both were old worn-out cheap cars that broke down a lot but the parts situation was night-and-day - once importation stopped and the war in Yugoslavia started, the Yugo parts supply dried up while the Chevette's were GM readily available and cheap. I was fixing what was on the Yugo or looking for a junkyard part that I could make one from two, and getting Chevy parts from Kmart.

Longtime AMC fan here. We had a few AMCs ourselves: a '62 Rambler Classic station wagon that my mother learned to drive on, a '68 Ambassador that I learned to drive on, a '74 Hornet that my sister learned to drive on, and we traded in the Ambassador for a '78 Gremlin that I drove for ten years. I still have two 1968 dealer brochures, one with the AMX and one without, so I knew about them even back then. I'd always dreamed about getting my hands on an AMX, and five years ago, that dream came true. It's a '69, Beale St. Blue with white go-pack stripes, 390 4-speed with Flowmaster mufflers. Lots of fun to drive and it turns heads. P. S. I used to live in Connecticut and am a UConn alum.

In the late '70s there were two at HS that gave old Mustangs and mild Camaros a run. Another case of GM dropping the ball right when they got it in their court when Fox body Mustangs came out in '79 and got a name in '82. Chevu should have owned that segment. 305HO would have been quick.

Mocking the Yugo without knowing that there was also a Yugo GVX or a.k.a. 65EFI is not correct. That version was 68HP and I guess it could be comparable to small cars of the era.

I’m the third owner of a 4-door 66 Fairlane (dad was second owner and got it in 1988 with 43 000 miles on it) it now also has almost exactly 55 000 miles on it! The interior is like new, but the exterior looks nowhere near as nice as this one though unfortunately, the first owner was a local convenience store owner (it still has a metal plaque with the name of the store and town next to the steering wheel) and probably used it all year round and this is in south Sweden right next to the sea so it has seen some snow and salt to be sure. I’m never selling that car though.

It wasn't included in the newspaper because Sandisfield isn't in the Republican-American newspaper's circulation area. It wasn't included in the calendar on classiccars.ride-ct.com is because the show wasn't in CT, rather just above the border in MA. I just happened to be tipped to it and decided to go for a ride.

Monza was such a pretty little car that you could get engine options that were as powerful as a Camaro. A lot of power in a small package, just as a Nova was a mini-Chevelle, so too was a Monza a mini-Camaro. But that was the great thing about Chevrolet back then---they had variety for every budget My first car was a 1976 Camaro, but I think if I were able to do it all over again--( would have gotten a Monza, instead!
