How many HZ does the display have because on the video it looks little bit slow but i guess that does the camera and in reality it doesnt look like that right?

You can’t set any value and I wouldn’t know how to test it, but I’m shooting at 60fps, and I’m guessing the display is 50Hz.

Hi, I’m from Perth WA as well! My son bought me this for Christmas as my 5yr old RAV has an awful audio/maps system(the only thing that lets it down IMO). Thanks for the great info and review it helped so much, trying to connect Bluetooth was still a little tricky but got there in the end 🙌🏼 BTW my camera does have the 4K option. The price using the link has increased to $AU205 Thanks again for the great info.

Got mine yesterday, and so far so good playing around with the maps, messages & phone apps. Do I need a Micro SD card inserted to operate the Dashcam as that part of the screen stays blank, it shows a Micro SD card logo with a red line through it presumably meaning it needs to be inserted. Anthony also mentions an app to transfer footage directly to your iPhone, what's that app called?

Hi. Yes you’ll need an SD card for dash camera use so that it has something to record and save to. The app to connect to the dash camera is Viddure

So how do you connect the tablet to the bluetooth on your car while still able to use your apple carplay?

The way these work is that they first connect to CarPlay over Wi-Fi, by connecting to it via Bluetooth first, then it would drop the BT connection and continue using Wi-Fi, then for audio, it connects to your car Bluetooth for audio afterwards.

Great review mate. Just bought 2 of these for my kids' cars - hoping they do the trick (We are based in Perth, WA so my concern will be around glare and how the unit behaves under hot weather - it gets to 40+ here in the summer for 3 months straight)

My brother is near Perth so I know how hot it’s been there lately 🥵. Hope these display work out well for your kids. If they do suffer from high heat, you could always mount them away from the windscreen and lower down using a vent to ball joint mount and use the suction mount ball joint adapter part to work with the vent mount. Then AC can keep the display cool and the screen isn’t fully in directly sunlight for heat.

You connect to the display’s WiFi for wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless androids auto. Music and navigation comes off your phone and content is streamed from your phone to the display.

Could you run this screen and the factory screen say my GMC I plug my phone into the truck and run CarPlay on factory screen and then have this monitor also would they work at the same time?

It would power on but you couldn’t connect to CarPlay on both factory and display at the same time. They operate on different WiFi connections. You could connect a different device to one of them

I bought one a week ago, should arrive in few days. Honestly the fact that they advertise the camera being 4K while only recording in 740p is a bit of a scam but I was looking for a Carplay unit with a dashcam and for the price I don't think I can find any better, unless you know better units!

I’m hoping I got a bad unit or maybe an older model. But the box and manual mentions 4K support but I just can’t see where else you could change it. I’ve asked them but yet to get a response from them about this before airing this video. If I hear more I’ll let you all know. There are quite a lot of displays that also feature a dash cam that likely sell for less than this one. I’ve yet to use one that does it all perfectly. This one feels quite generic. Usually no. But it depends how your 12V is setup. Most cars will power the socket off after opening the door or locking the car. Some can be adjusted to stay on.

It loop recorded onto on inserted Sd card. You can start/stop recording if you wish to do so.

Also to mention, it had something like impact recording. So say you get into a crash itll detect the impact (supposedly) and either start recording or record the past X minutes

Not the rear I think because that seems to only trigger when in reverse. I wasn’t able to get a rear display feed just in the dash cam area.

Perhaps look for a display that isn’t adjusting the second camera as a reverse and more as a rear camera. Reverse usually requires a cable spliced to it to trigger the feed. A rear camera is usually trigger with a button on the display interface, meaning it doesn’t need splicing to a cable and can be viewed/recorded at any time. May recent P5 from Eonon video did this.

Sorry, I meant the P5 allows this type of live camera feed. But it will not show side by side. I think you will need a super wide display type like the Pro Max. Anything smaller/slimmer will not be able to show side by side because there will not be enough space on the display.

Hey, would I be correct in assuming that there is no auto dimming feature for the display brightness? its a key thing I look for in any screen device that goes in a vehicle as I do not want to be fumbling around to lower the brightness at night.

Probably not easy without going into the casing to remove the camera wires and camera module. When it comes to removing, anything is possible :) it’s just how pretty does it look after you’re done with it.

Hi Ross, I was referring to other displays in general and no ones that come with dash cams. If you go through my standalone display playlist all dash cam displays have issues with android auto not being done right. I’m sure there may be some out there with cams that do it right, I just not have had the chance to review them. Sorry for any confusion.

Was waiting for the whole video to show how to install the back up camera, how to run and splice the wires to the rear back up light. They said it easy to install but not for a lady like me.

This is why I’ve never done it. The cable will be different for every car so it’s only going to suite a niche audience. More so I don’t fancy hacking my car up with that. It should be a case of finding the cable that goes to the reverse light and cutting a small portion of the cable and bind it with the cable from the camera. You can also do it cleaner with a splice adapter that cuts into the cable when you close onto it.

How about if you want the back camera on live all the time too use it as a real viewer mirror.

The is wouldn’t be possible because this screen specifically doesn’t have that option. It needs the reverse cable to send the signal to the display to turn the display on for reversing purposes. Unless you fool it by connecting up a battery switch to the cable that can trigger the current needed to change the display over to its reverse mode.

Thanks for a great review! I just received my CarTablet and it seems pretty intuitive and easy to use, but there's one thing I'm wondering; the dashcam video recording starts automatically and records in 1, 3 or 5 minute intervals (optional). I click the red recording button to manually stop the recording, but the recording starts back up again once I go back to the main menu. I fear this will fill up my memory card in no time. I would prefer to manage the recording manually myself. Is there a way to prevent the recording from starting automatically?

I don’t think so the dash cam will loop record. So older footage that you won’t want anyway will be overridden. So no real need to manually start or stop recording really.
