Saw them both perform this in Branson in 2007 with my beautiful grandparents. Sadly they all are gone but so glad I have the memories. Life changes so quickly. Miss them all ❤️

That about when I saw them also. Debbie was also there with Glen.

Can’t believe what great physical shape Glen was in, mostly throughout his whole life. God blessed him with not just talent. I often wonder if he had to do anything to stay so trim.

When I found this video last September, I was both singing along and crying at the same time. This song was originally performed on Andy Williams' show in 1965 with Tony Bennett singing with him, but now that I've heard this version with Glen Campbell, I don't know which is better! Rest in peace, Andy and Glen.

Andy Williams in all regards was a great voice in the crooning genre but it amazes how much better Glen's voice sounds in this video. Just goes to show how underrated Glen was by a lot of music snobs who looked down on "country musicians" i.e. Buddy Rich. Glen Travis Campbell was one of the all time best to pick AND sing ! Probably the best single combo.

Don't forget that Andy was nearly 10yrs older than Glen.I saw Andy live twice in the UK when he was nearing the end of his career and he was incredible,note perfect. Glen also had an awesome voice and I'm sorry that I never saw him perform live.

Glen Campbell during the 60's was the highest paid session guitar player in the world...when he did the Goodtime Show on television he had to take a pay cut.

Great clip of their performance on the stage of Andy's Moon River Theatre in Branson, MO in the early 2000s. Andy originally performed this medley in 1965 on his NBC television series with guest Tony Bennett (which explains the bit with the songs about San Francisco). The band is Andy's own Moon River Orchestra. These music legends still exuded great vitality in their later careers. Thanks for posting!

That makes absolute sense now!I thought those charts sounded like they were done by an arranger who really knew how to write for big bands! And I remember that clip with Andy and Tony! Thanks for sharing.
@ben27153 жыл бұрын
@@nashvilletennessee3194 Glad you noticed! The arranger could have been Dave Grusin, Billy May, Marty Paich, Allyn Ferguson, Jack Elliott, or others who worked on "The Andy Williams Show" in the mid '60s. This arrangement was an adaptation/update for Andy's smaller stage band, which incorporated three keyboard synthesizers to layer string and horn parts. Wish video is available of Andy performing his early 2000s concert version of "Call Me," which sure sounds like a Dave Grusin chart.

They appeared several times on each other's shows back in the 70s. They do a particularly nice duet version of Canadian Sunset, out there in YT land. But you're still right - more would have been better.
