At my film school we say other softwares are like using a lighter for fire while avid is like banging rocks against rocks for fire

Hey Hans this a great video, I currently work on a show where we have to grade using Avid’s Symphony. I recently created a show LUT to transform from log to 709 so I can grade “underneath” and I get great results in Avid but if I do a mixdown of the timeline it creates really bad pixelation and colour artifacts. The only way I am able to get a clean export is using the MOV container with same as source. I was wondering if this is a regular issue or am I doing something wrong?

hey hans - I am trying to import an aaf from premiere into avid but whenever I drag it into the project it gives me a bunch of error codes (Exception: Fatal error, msg: Assertion Failed) and then when I try to relink it doesn't work. Do you have any idea how to fix this? Thanks!

Do you give out certificates?🥹 This really helped me and I would like to add this to my resume for my college internship. Most of the news companies here in Philippines use this (I'm currently studying journalism btw😅)

Avid is king for tv/film nothing comes close to how good it works everything else for editing go premiere. I will never edit a film on any other software they are trash.

I've edited full time from the linear days then into the video toaster generation and here I am in the avid media cutter days....I'm beginning to like the Sony live air....I can actually pull AV live from a non recording ENG camera in the field and edit it while I'm on the train and already have it on master control servers for the live news. Only downside of avid to me is cost. You really do alit of extra work than other software

Tutorial is even complicated like its application. For example, how did u jump on rendering ? This is the first episode of tutorials. You need to take it slow. Rendering should be taught later.

I have been editing very basic stuff on Premiere pro for almost 6 years, I knew about the existence of AVID, but never really worked with it. I just got hired as a video editor for a news channel and they only use avid, so this comes in very handy, thanks so much for the walkthrough!

hey hans hows it going??? I have a quick question , I am trying to make a music video with pictures flashing on the beat ... of course I can see the beat in the audio section but I cant move the image exactly right on the beat ...Is there anyway to turn off the time grid so I can put the picture right on beat? I was assuming it was a frame rate thing but I'm not sure... if you could help me with this question I would be much appreciated!!!!

I work in video editing industry for 8 years and now I relive the feeling of begining in a new software. I really try to convince me this feeling of the illogical software work is because is something new for me, new command buttons, new workflow... But. BUT. Premiere have so logical and airy workspace, really easy to sellect the layers, to change the sequence settings, the frame rate, to cut something, to apply an effect, to move the clips, to make anything. :)))

i am a newer and really don't understand why this software is more considered than Premiere in cinema/broadcast. Moving from the simplicity of that software to this one seems so crazy to me. Every shortcuts is like: why it has to be so complicated!

Regarding the 3rd tip (reverse match frame), something similar is "dupe detection", which is a very visual way of seeing what's been used.
