Utterly mesmerizing, fantastic trip and video! I just got my PPL a month ago and just got married 2 years ago. Been itching to get my feet wet with a trip like this with my copilot! But until a break from school and work comes, I’m glad I can have your videos. Thanks!
@Richard-nq5pj9 сағат бұрын
So, half way thru this extended trip and I'm feeling that I'm there with you. Aviation 101 seems to have become two people who share their life through the video. It's very intimate, which generates a feeling of family in me, as if I am part of your family. I think this sets you apart from other youtubers who are either quite technical, such as instructing on tear drop entries, and others who seem to use the platform for "here we are flying in our plane" (again). Yet your videos have grown to encompass the local environs, customs, weather, and your reactions to and integration with the destinations you choose. Bravo! On your uniqueness and of course the technical skills of scripting, shooting, editing, etc.-which is done so well that it is basically invisible to the viewer. Thank you.

I was born to the lonely high plains & farms of the Panhandle of Texas. 12 miles from the nearest town of 1200, the nights could be as dark as an empty sea on a moonless night. Cool summer mornings, the smell of the earth and hundreds of acres of fresh, green wheat swaying with swells and eddies like the sea stretched to the west just past our prairie pasture & lake from my upstairs bedroom window. These were the lands of the Comanche, the Llano Escatada, white men became lost here as if at sea, and to be able to really say you can really appreciate it and love it you'd have to be born here. Weather? I've seen it rain mud, seen it drop from 85 degrees to 20 and snow ....all in one day. We've got thunderstorms that reach almost 100,000 ft. at times and more tornados than anywhere else in the world. A single harvest could pay off all your debts and maybe even pay off he mortgage, but a dry year & if you don't have irrigation, or a hailstorm batters your crops worthless and you have nothing. Soon, with crops harvested and summer days growing long and hot, we, too, as the Indians once did, we'd head for the high Sangre de Cristo mountains of northern New Mexico. Much could be said, but memories of time spent in the mid 50's to 1960's with very old real life pioneers and old Indians in Taos are special! Some of those "guys" were full grown and 20 years old in 1880.

You both are such excellent pilots. The weather and bird strikes are never things to mess around with and you did the right things to ensure your safety and the safety your aircraft. When you said you weren't sure if you could make it in for a landing because of the thunderstorm, I know what Chelsea felt when she said, "really!?" Because if you are concerned it must be bad. I really enjoy the longer content. Keep up the great job. You are both great representatives for aviation. ❤️🙏

It is absolutely crazy how much Lajitas and Terlingua has changed. On one hand it's sad the rustic area that it once was, has become, "pretty" if you will, but on the other hand it's nice seeing it modernized. My mom and stepdad worked in Lajitas for a while, she ran the restaurant, and my stepdad ran the bar. While they were living there, Brooks and Dunn filmed the video for My Maria in Lajitas and cast my stepdad and another town resident named Jake in the video. I have lots of memories from the area and the two of you do such a great job videoing and narrating!

G,day Josh and Chelsea from Sydney Australia. That was one of your best short film productions to date. Are you both; happy, healthy, current and proficient? Brain teasers from the film. * How does Rio Grand fill, what is its catchment area? * The measurement of density altitude on takeoff @5300 is that the highest you've heard over ATIS *Gee.. that's arid cattle country, were they Brahmin or longhorns? * I'll have to watch a John Wayne movie. Best wishes from the Great Southern Land, Australia (state of the Commonwealth.) 🌏🇦🇺

One of my first flight school's Cessna 152s had a bird strike around this time last year. It was a Seagull and it hit the left wing root, there was a substantial amount of damage. It took about 3 months to fix before the aircraft was airworthy again. Also something to note, that aircraft was one I hated flying for multiple reasons, uncomfortable seats, barely working cabin heat, and worst of all it never flew straight. If I took my hand off the yoke it would eventually put itself in a left hand spiral dive.

Not trying to be creepy here, but do you both travel with a surveillance device detector(s) and uv/blue light? Just asking as I stayed at a lot of Air BnB’s and Hotels and by far Air BnB’s have had little cameras hidden about. Granted, most are for “theft, damage and destruction purposes” but some have found “their business” uploaded to less than appropriate websites and some are less than stellar with “clean beds and seating”. After a few startling discoveries I never go in one without the devices and if I drive somewhere, I always bring a full set of sheets and a roll of black electrical tape to cover any discovered lenses. Just saying.
@Aviation1015 сағат бұрын
Great points! I have a UV light, but should really make it an essential item to pack. I’ve never heard of a surveillance detection device. I’m gonna check it out!
