tbh I just think B99 should have steered clear of trying to talk about any real world topics in any real serous way as at the end of the day it was just a goofy over the top comedy it should have been allowed to just stay that way I mean them making the occasional joke about how crappy some real world issues are is fine but the show centering major plots around this stuff and trying to treat itself as a serous Drama while still maintaining its comedic tone just sorta sent the show downhill in its past 3 seasons imo.

Your points against To Catch a Predator were solid, but your baseless smears against cops and conservatives kill your credibility. You’re showing the same bias as the lame stream media you claim to hate. Drop the petty shots, stick to facts, and you’d have more subs and Patreons-including me.

I want to start this out by saying I really like this video. It is well researched, well presented, and raises a lot of important points. But I take great issue with your discussion of minor sex offenders. While I am certain that everything said is accurate, you completely ignore the people they hurt. Sexual harassment and assault are not less harmful to the victim just because they were done by another child. The victim will still deal with that trauma for a very long time. Calling the immeasurable harm done to victims a "mistake" is unacceptable. Suggesting that their punishments should not reflect the harm they did is wrong. I agree the justice system needs significant changes. Including for perpetrators of sex crimes. I'm not sure exactly how, but I am sure that minimizing the harm done by minor offenders is not the way to go about it.

Not weirdly obsessed. If you were writing an episode for a show, you'd also include references to your cultural background. Alot of the writers names sound jewish, so that's all there is to it. Nothing nefarious. A japanese writer would also be likely to be "obsessed" about Japan, just that Japan isn't that controversial so there would be no video essays on that

Got to that last segment...Why am I ever surprised at this point. It always has to somehow be the fault of trans people. We are always to blame for every bad thing that ever happens in the world. "Got to protect the kids from the evil people that just want to live their lives" We want to protect kids, As long as they are not trans kids then we don't care... Nothing has EVER been about protecting children, it's always just an excuse to attack marginalized groups

hi there uh.. the message of WOTC doesnt really have to do with defunding the police, and in baltimore that really just cant work. this coming from somebody who lived there. baltimore has an issue with really high crime, and it is a near daily occurrence to see one of the (i believe 5) helicopters that BPD has flying around to find somebody. the police in baltimore do receive a lot of funding, more than most departments this is true. but what is also true is that the issue doesnt solely lie with funding the police, but also with not funding the processes which decrease the need for intense police spending. the issue has long been that there needs to be a healthy balance that allows development to thrive whilst also keeping the city safe, and that issue really isnt simple to solve, its part of the long game, and nobody wants to play the long game. Essentially: Funding is only one fifth of the problem, whilst also being a quarter of the solution.

I think your stance isn't that far off from what the show is saying. If you've seen the wire you'd know that the guys who make this show know how fucked up Baltimore crime can get and that alot of man-hours and dedication is needed to take these guys on. I think we own this city is just showcasing how hard it really is to do better in Baltimore

10:39 theres a lot of reason that more training is given to defense and firearms than de-escalation. for one, de-escalation training is often pretty straight forward, and a lot of the time theres only so much you can de-escalate. both defense and firearms are situations which need officers to be heavily conditioned for, because when a fight begins its critical that you are calm so that the lives of civilians and your own life are secured. also, training on each of these topics may be occurring within the same sessions, its called doing practicals. I wouldnt be surprised if more hours were logged here than had actually been spent on training because when you are logging practicals, it can make sense to have those hours overlap. also... 30:59 and further Please make better arguments. 1. Just because the police have a supplier for their tools does not mean that they are for sale. This is just.. a really weird implication to make man. 2. What exactly is the problem with the police not telling you every single detail of the case / not being fully transparent to every person..? It would be one thing if they didn't disclose to the court when requested (Brady V Maryland) but thats different from not telling a lawyer or random non LEO absolutely everything 3. What exactly is the issue with training police better..? Like is there an issue with cop city if you are providing more in depth and valuable training which could save lives and help to curb excessive use of force incidents..? Not saying that we need to give every department a cop city, but increased funding (when distributed correctly) can and does save lives. (also the people charged with domestic terror werent peaceful protesters, they threw fireworks which can do a lot of physical damage especially to the eyes and im pretty sure they threw molotovs, they had intentions to destroy government property, which by the way would have also been used as a fire and EMS training center)

I'm a liberal white guy so The Wire is my demo. So it's no surprise that IMHBCO, it is the greatest show ever made. I cannot count how many times I've said "Fill-In-the-Blank is The Wire." Work, government agencies, private business, public transportation all are reflected by The Wire. If you wonder why a certain moron is running something, just remember Daniels' line about why the gang would promote an underserving underling, "We do." It makes dealing with incompetence a lot easier because you can understand how it came to be.

This is me before watching the video because I'm an easily led sponge, but I freaking love this show. The disconnection between home and work and work from the overarching goals of the company. The weird corporate rituals that you have to learn and accept as normal. I'm starting year six of my twenty year commitment to my corporate job, barring major upsets, and this show really said it all. And that twist at the end!? Perfectly executed, I did not see it coming, but it makes sense in retrospect.

Hanson is a predator. Not a child predator, perhaps, but he uses the idea of child predation for clout. If not for his involvement, several cases would've seen their days in court, and several abusers would've been addressed and placed where they belonged. Onision being one of them; Hanson's involvement DESTROYED the police's ability to take action. And what's happened as a result? The predators make more predators, which make more predators. Hanson is a slimy excuse for a person who pretends to be a good man.

Really excellent video. Very instructive and talks about serious topics in a mature and constructive way. Honestly, I feel like the title does the video a disservice as it talks about so much more than To Catch a Predator, developing on all the problems surrounding "pedo hunting" in general. I actually avoided it for months despite it constantly showing up in my recommendations, because I figured it would be the kind if video that takes forever to sum up a very simple story when in reality, it's long because TCaP is only a framing device to discuss alrger soecietal issues.

As a Brit I watched the odd episode of Cops normally between the UK shows Police Interceptors or Motorway Cops. It was so weird, like they'd just tackle a person on a warrant without even trying to stop him first. It felt odd to see police not only not trying to deescalate or peacefully make arrest but to not even pretend. They were so sure of themselves that they'd use excessive force (and it was excessive force at least by our standards here in the UK) knowing it was not only on camera but on television. It was so obvious and the officers were so obnoxious and you watch it knowing this was made to make them look good. I also find it weird that the police didn't blur faces and censor names, they don't always censor faces in the UK but they do names and normally will censor the faces of anyone who requests it be censored. Its not that no problems exist in the UK shows but it just felt weird watching the US shows.

Thank you for the video. I found it to be informative as well as entertaining. I think the best issue you bring up is that conservatives do not care. They voted for a man who declared he would be a dictator on day one. Who has quoted Hitler and if he didn't mean to, so much the worse for us that he accidentally quoted the world's greatest madman. I have been forced to stomach this hypocrisy because nearly everyone I know has gone insane and decided that Trump is the way forward. And it does not matter how far they have to move the goalposts, even to the point of leaving the stadium, they will do it. Further, it is as it was pointed out by the commentator you featured, these are Christian notions and they feel that certain people have the authority to commit these atrocities. And they have decided that this authority rests with the rich. I have heard it asked and echoed all over the internet: why did the democrats lose the 2024 election? I will tell you exactly why they lost. Won't that be a treat. The democrats lost because after four years of the nightmare that was Tump's first term, a period in which people have contracted collective amnesia, and dealing with the fallout of the truly terrible decisions he made, they were given a breather for four years as a competent president did all he could to clean the bed that Trump shat in, but this was not enough for them. They were expecting to see the streets paved with bars of gold. They were anticipating taking a spin in their brand new flying car. But worse than either of these was when they used the toilet and found that they had no personal valet standing by to wipe their asses. People forgot what the job of presidenct truly entailed and what responsibilities were inherent to it. In other words, they were spoiled children who didn't get their lollipop after their dental cleaning. And it makes me sick to my stomach. All the same, thank you for bringing this issue to light. I intend to watch more of your videos.

When a tree rots, you might think it best to just cut it down and call it good. You might say, "It's too close to the buildings" and "It's a danger, able to fall at any moment." You might then realize doing so would also damage the nearby buildings. You see the cost of cutting it down, not just chopping and watching it fall but carefully removing the limbs and branches and taking it down in chunks so it doesn't crush anything nearby, and say, "Well, it's supported enough by the vines, and it probably has a few more years left," and so leave it to be an issue for later. Maybe, you decide to try and cut it down yourself, and damage everything and one around yourself without actually solving the problem. The problem with all of those is that a tree is more than the trunk and branches. It is a deep and wide net of roots, built to hold on in the midst of the strongest storms and harshest hurricanes. It goes deep, and it is strong, and to remove the rot and tree in full would mean removing all that which it has snuck its roots into. A young tree can be removed with only some care, but after 100 years? 150 years? 200? By then its everywhere and not going anywhere fast. An already broken system, one designed on the basis of the most efficient way to achieve economic growth and not social or societal wellbeing, is hard to remove. One that has rotted and corrupted we might say needs to go, but the truth is it reaches much further and we're only now seeing the great rot that has laid beneath the dirt. When Trump becomes president because Musk and his supporters bought him the presidency, that's the system working just as it's supposed to, we're only now seeing the rot breach the surface and speckle the leaves. When a person says they feel they have no voice and are talked over by a white, rich man who's profited off of giving capitalists a further platform, just going on about ad revenue and paying with your empty jangling wallet because wages are low and unemployment is high and debts are mounting and hope is dwindling, that's just capitalism functioning as it is wont to do. Mistaking the symptoms for the cause.
