Did you replace the lines from the sender unit to fuel pump ? Mine were worn out and I’m trying to avoid dropping the tank but the originals are wedged into the hose clamps under the frame and I can’t seems to pull out the originals without dropping the tank . Thought about running them above the seat frame but idk if that’s a good idea . Also I just changed the fuel pump on my Jaguar xj6 and thought about draining the tank with a shop vac but was scared it would catch on fire ! How did you do it ?

I don't see how the frame rail is good enough to last with that set up, but an interesting design.
@GeorgeBailey-mo1mq8 ай бұрын
It isn't, to do it right you need to weld a 1/8" plate on either side of that frame and drill thru that. The way he did it, it will just tear that frame up.

Oh man, the Lord and ALL your Guardian Angels were watching over you with that shop vac siphon! Please don't ever do that again. Most vacuums have brushed commutator motors and make sparks at the armature commutator when they're running. (Because it doesn't really matter when you're not vacuuming up GASOLINE) As that fuel is being sucked into the canister of the vacuum cleaner, it's mixing with the air that's already in there, and then exhausting it of the outlet at a nearly perfect ignition ratio. Some of that air is directed to the motor to cool it. But for the grace of God (and stale fuel) that vacuum didn't turn into a bomb on you. Whew! Otherwise, I'm very much enjoying your videos. Reminds me of when I was your age with my first car(s). Keep up the good work!

First off, I am so glad you are enjoying my videos, and I know I took a long break, but the car is running and driving amazing after sitting for ten years. Many more videos to come with better editing. To address the explosive and risky maneuver I pulled, you are entirely CORRECT! I tried every which way to get the gas out, but this was my last ditch effort, I realized the danger, but after doing a ton of praying and meditation and accepting my fate of possibly dying with this 1995 BMW M3, I proceeded with this death wish of a move. In all seriousness, I appreciate your comment and concern. This is my last time doing something like this.

A warning to anyone who has a D21 with "California Emissions," your fuel rail will be very different (8 more small screws) and the injectors will be 1 inch shorter. AND hard to find, like impossible to find. Plenty of injectors for the other 49 states. But I don't live in CALIF, maybe if I lived there I would have better luck?

Did u put the old crank sensor back in?
@fungdart2 жыл бұрын
And don’t lose the copper washer that goes underneath the bolt.
@fungdart2 жыл бұрын
I dropped my bleeder valve bolt and it took me two hours to find it. I had to take out the alternator because it was stuck behind it and there is no way to get to it. Not even with a magnet. It was a nightmare. I recommend just loosening it till it almost comes out and don’t take it out completely. That way the air bubbles can still get out and then tighten it back down.
@ethan.... Жыл бұрын
if you put a piece of paper on the head of the bolt and insert it into the socket it can't fall out and you can re-install it without dropping. Hope that helps you next time.

I fixed my CEL with the P0340 and the car runs like new. What I have learned the hard way is not to use ANY other brand than the BMW original part OR VDO (Siemens or Continental). There are brand names like Hella, Meyle or Bremi who have excellent products normally but BMW's are very special about their sensors! The problem many people miss is that a new non-BMW or non-VDO CPS might work exactely like the old damaged one; Making people believe that the problem must be in the wiring or the Crankshaft position sensor; BMW must have a failsafe system that it still runs with the "wrong" sensor making the problem so hard to diagnose. There are horror stories in the forums where people replaced harnesses and DME's just to find out that the sensor was the problem after all. The car might still start with a non-oem sensor; before you rule out the CPS as the problem make sure that you put an VDO or BMW sensor in it. If it still doesn't work get a second replacement one from BMW directly. A new VDO one is like 90 dollars a BMW one about 150 - after spending hours tearing the car apart just think whether 150 dollars is really that bad to be one the safe side!

Hey! So I got a 95’ hardbody and I have the rough idle issue and I’m sure it’s my fuel injectors. but I found some hitachi ones that look just like yours but apparently it’s for a 94’ hardbody, would you think it’ll fit mine? I think so cause they look the exact same and the engine the same.

Amazing video a year later and you still helping me out! Just picked up a 1992 d21 2.4l 4 cylinder and the fuel injectors needed to be cleaned. I'm thinking about replacing them here soon with the Hitachi injectors but their website makes me skeptical since they label it 1993-1994 d21. I mean from my understanding its the same motor and I dont think there would be an issue since its also the same oem part number but everywhere i go they say "does not fit your vehicle" so makes me second guess myself.
