I went to Japan in 2023 with a X100v and as much as I love shooting with it, after going back home and pondering about the trip... I would much prefer the "covertness" that the GR IIIx offers more especially taking pictures in Japan. I don't really wanna stand out as much especially with taking street photos as I worry about my standing and others thoughts particularly in Japan. So for the next trip, i might buy a GR IIIx or its next iteration whenever that comes out
@po.ntandshoot6 күн бұрын
@@Zara-ub7hc I have a few light regrets that I didn't use the Ricoh more. Not due to the size, but more because of the image quality. The next iteration would make a lot of people happy, including myself.

You do realize the GRIIIx teleconverter gives you 60mm FF equivalent and 75mm is just a further digital crop? That’s why you get lower res with it on. Why not tape up the contacts and reclaim the resolution for 60mm?
@po.ntandshoot16 күн бұрын
Yes, I'm aware of the additional crop, but I prefer having a focal distance further away from the X100vi. I didn't know you could bypass it by taping the contacts, so I may give that a go in another video 📸

excellent photos, just discovered your channel, brilliant stuff. what apertures do you usually shoot at? also it doesn't look like you're using snap distance focusing a lot?
@po.ntandshoot29 күн бұрын
I usually shoot at 4.5-5.6 on the GR. I treat myself to snap focus when the sun is strong and I'm in a busy part of the city.
@Disharmonikash29 күн бұрын
@@po.ntandshoot thank you! useful. Do you find the snap distance successful in high percentage of cases? the 28mm, for DOF reasons of course, is supposedly more effortless at it. Also, as many have requested, it would be great to film a video just you talking about the camera and your experience of using it and perhaps also with an emphasis of the 40mm focal length which is a super weird focal length to be honest, 35mm is so close, but then again to me the different is so aparent despite being just 5mm difference. Keep doing such a good work! Oh, bonus question - Capture One or Lightroom? I've seen some dramatic differences in look of pictures between the two
@po.ntandshoot27 күн бұрын
@@Disharmonikash with snap focus there aren't many keepers, only because I hold the shutter down for 3-5 shots to ensure that focus is nailed as both myself and the subject are moving closer to one another. It's high octane and fun, and removes the dodgy GR autofocus from getting involved. I do need to make video - so many requests now! Regarding software...have only used LR...but I think I need to dabble with Capture One to see what the commotion is about.

Thanks so much for the beautiful video! I'm planning to get the ricoh or x100v. Would you recommend the GRiii x over the GRiii? Just wondering if 40mm is too tight? Thank you :)
@po.ntandshootАй бұрын
Really does come down to preference. I mostly practice/prefer 35mm, and the 40mm comes more naturally to me than 28mm. If you like to isolate subjects here and there, I'd go for the X! It's a win-win situation though let's be honest.
