Every glass jar with a lug cap I save. I just had a delicious red pork chile processed 75 minutes in a lug jar about 9 months ago that has been sitting in my pantry ever since. Absolutely no problems as all. I wish I had more as canning jars by the dizen have gotten so expensive!

Thanks for helping me solve my siphoning issue- got to make sure the water is boiling or close to temp- if water is cool - the level is deceiving…..

Just like light bulbs the industry moved away from helping people by providing useful reusables to junk that isn't even recycled. They instead opted for profit, rather than the "lifetime lightbulb". It is all about dependence on others, particularly government. These are the same reasons they complain about homesteaders being a root cause of all sorts of weird industry problems.

“Never do a quick release when pressure canning”, is what I was taught, as there is carryover cooking time that kills the botulism. Otherwise, great video. Thank you for your efforts.

actually, I'd like to use upcycle some jelly jars with lug style caps into lotion and handsoap containers, but I can't locate any lids that do this. There are ton of options of mason jars, but not lug caps. I am thinking I may have to drill a hole in the lid and use a cap of some kind, just can't figure out how to secure with a nut underneath the jar or insert a threaded ring from underneath...Ideas? Suggestions? Can't find any DIY tutorials for this anywhere either.

On the tougher labels after a soak; this may help - even the plastic salad dressing containers with warm enough not to melt the plastic, the label will slide off, or most if a ton on adhesive, then add cooking oil and baking soda, let it sit a day or two, and it should wash right off. And as noted by many as a frugal gal too, with other names cited; I save the cereal bits after cereal has been depleted; yogurt toppings, baking crumbs across your bread and much more, so salad dressing containers that can not be utilized for canning can offer a nice visual of the variety of cereal bits along with almonds or pecans spiced as a gift, or you can imagine many other options pending your food preferences and interests.

Better then Famous Dave’s. Opened my first jar today, crunchy, sweet hot. My husband is very critical. He said, these are the best pickles he has ever had…..😅

The video seems to skip a couple of steps such as starting with the vent closed instant Pot. And. why are the jars shown at the end without the screwy top. Also she doesn't mention how to deal with one piece metal screws top that you normally immerse in the water. Otherwise, fairly helpful.

Just opened my first jar from my first batch. Woohoo! They’re excellent. My only variation from recipe was I added a little more red pepper flakes and the heat is just right for me! Awesome. My dill pickles will take a back burner to these from now on! Thank you

Thank you so much for sharing this video! i have saved a bunch of jars/lids but didnt know how to reuse them properly. The Ball book and my MIL who originally taught me how to can (peaches) unloaded her fear of pressure canners and non BALL mason jars. Last year a dear friend had given me a ton of mayo jars and guess which one had shattered in the canner....Ball. That set the tone for me to be bold and step away from the "flo" that every one else "the internet" deems safe. Also I wonder how we did it in the depression and how other countries keep food from spoiling. Thank you @richardpaccheco6554 for sharing your testimony!

These will usually release overpressure inside. Put some boiling water inside, screw the lid on as best as you can. Water and steam will come out. I don't know if the jars can hold too much negative pressure cooling from 120°. The smaller TO-66 are more secure because they have only 4 threads. It is annoying that some are slightly bigger or smaller diameter than 66, and must be tossed if the lid wears out.

Norma; eggs keep 6 months in a refrigerator. They may be a bit dry after this period. How long do your eggs keep?

I bought more than i care to admit of those apple juice jars in the DG with the assumption that i could upcycle them and can in them again. Your video validated that assumption, and that is pretty sweet. I have also saved a bunch more lug lock style jars, but the lid size is the most important part. I figured i could get lids from USP or Berlin Packing, which helps a lot because now i know what size lid i would need for the apple juice jars. Thank you

But I may can afford lids. Will you please do another video and show us some more details please!!! And take us through the whole process. I would love to watch this!!! Also when you order from the website do you have to buy in bulk? Can you please explain everything? Thank you so much!!!
