I have used such jars for canning 60 years ago and at that time people raised their eyebrows when they saw that I went out and picket wild apples and made juice and applesauce etc and stored it in my pantry. Yesterday I “canned” several jars of figs and they will be used this winter, coming out of the most interesting jars.....

I save all my jars, I'm an herbalist so always storing dryed herbs or making tinctures in them, I just recently entertained the idea of those prego type lids are certainly worthy of using for canning, in fact the seal even after using is better than the new canning lids, companies spend billions to convince you it's not safe so you'll continue to buy their products and waste more

Reuse Reduce Recycle so many folks are stuck on the recycle point of view, you can also reduce waste by reusing those jars , just like you are showing folks how to.

I went to Italy with a friend, we stayed with her grandmother , in her kitchen she had a cabinet with jars of tomato sauce , peppers, and green beans, all were done in recycled jars of varying sizes and shapes. I asked she ever had any problems she looked at me said my mother and grand mother have done this all their lives! She said Americans are so wasteful ? Lol!

Been doing this a long time now. First I tried pressure canning with water filled jars. Then food filled jars and let them sit a couple years. Once I convinced myself it works I quit worrying about the availability of canning jars and lids. Since I have a lot of recycled pickle jars and canning jars I bought years ago I use both.

I looked up home recipes for goo-gone to remove sticky labels, and a bit of baking soda with oil and lemon juice works well. Spread it on the stickiness, let it sit for 10 minutes or so, then rub off with your thumb, no butter knife scraping the glass necessary!

I Classico spaghetti sauce comes in a canning jar, not quite a quart and takes a regular canning lid.

I have been saving many of my sauce jars and coffee jars. I just keep dry goods in them. Then in case I need to share things I can give away and keep my mason jars.

I have wondered for years if you could do this but never tried. I could have put one in with my regular batches of canning and thought to do so but just never did. Was always afraid of ruining and losing that batch. Now I know and thank you for the website to get new lids. I am so excited for this. Since canning lids went MIA this spring I've been thinking of alternatives and this thought had come to mind and here you are with a video explaining it. WOO HOO and thank you!!!!

Bonn Maman jars are my favorite jars to save and reuse. They were my first experiment using recycled jars. I love the size better than 1/2 pint (too small), and a pint (too big) for jams and fruit butters. That’s what works for us.

I am a jar goblin! The window seals in my kitchen are lined with the same apple juice jars. I’m so excited they were specifically in this video. Now I know what to do with them. This years apple and grape juice harvest will look really pretty.

Thank you so much for this great video... I have been a person who saves and re-uses jars all my life as I just hate waste and find so many uses for glass jars... but now... I have been wondering about re-using some for canning and I am so grateful for all that you have shown us here... Those apple juice jars are darling! I have always wondered why more commercial items are not in pretty jars like that to encourage people to re-use them. How wonderful that you found the site to buy the jar caps... I will most certainly be looking into this.

I bought more than i care to admit of those apple juice jars in the DG with the assumption that i could upcycle them and can in them again.
