I'm surprised at those velocities for that case... With 243 in factory r700 ..I'm pushing 75gn VMAX at 3100 fps... I'm happy with a mild load for case and barrel life...but...I'm wondering how much I'm leaving on the table..before pressure signs arise... 6.2 inch drift at 300 yards...10mph .90 degree.

My wife is a LEO, she comes to the range with me and really works on her drills, most of her coworkers do not. I think it would surprise a lot of people to know how little most LEO's actually shoot. Many of them only shoot on the annual qual. I criticize anyone who carries and rarely shoots. Going to the range with drills written out and scoring is the best use of your time.

Try the Norma tipstrike 76gr flat base. I am using IMR 4064 @3813, 5 shot groups .3 - .5 @100 yards, Lapua brass, CCI 200 primers, coal 2.350. I tried varget and it was NOT CONSISTANTLY so I switched to IMR 4064 😊😊😊😊

30 shots from 7 yards away. This is not a difficult qual. Even with movement, not difficult. Try a qual that uses the 15, 25 and 50 yard lines, with yes, pistols, time limits and 50 rounds. Thats a real qual.

Test is completely invalid by sticking a magnetospeed on the muzzle. It induces deflection and any experienced shooter knows it changes groups
@FullCircleReloading16 сағат бұрын
Its the same deflection for all the groups though... Also, we wish the Garmin was out when we did this video. The magneto was the best option at the time.
@maurygold7416 сағат бұрын
@ labradar was out. Theres no data to support that the rod vibrating off the barrel was consistently inducing deflection. It’s been common knowledge that the magnetospeed induces issues with group size for a long time. The recent litz testing just gave us the reasoning
@FullCircleReloading16 сағат бұрын
@@maurygold74 The point wasnt really to compare group sizes, it was just to show that there isnt a magical difference between primers. NONE of these loads were tuned, just primers swapped.
@maurygold7416 сағат бұрын
@ some primers are better than others. Including those tested. So you were just testing the es of 5 random shot groups with different primer? Not sure what that’s supposed to test
@FullCircleReloading13 сағат бұрын
@@maurygold74 It was during a time of primer shortages and people not shooting because they couldnt find primers. So we wanted to show that all of them could be used and obviously if you're reloading you could fine tune your load around them
@annahonorata990Күн бұрын
Very good informative video. For a dasher (I shoot dasher myself) the groups are dissapointing. I think you have a constant problem whith double grouping. Could be wind doping, trigger pressure, parallax, bag technique, flinch, cheek weld, scope mount. Secondly, I would recommend a proper load development meaning finding the right powder charge in smaller increments. then seating depth. Try the Berger guidelines for finding seating depth with VLDs.
@FullCircleReloading16 сағат бұрын
Yeah, not SUPER pumped about the groups for it being a Dasher. I'm going to redo with just one bullet (same charge weights) and see what sort of different results I get if any.

I dont ever shoot 20 shot groups into one. I shoot 5-10rds before each match and if you compile those over a season I plot at good sample size. Biggest I ever do is a 12 shot and its done from 4 positions shown here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3qrgomjd9OIoa8si=QP9r7Q_4kUJbf3V5

Even if you clean between different bullets/charge weights you will still need to fire a few spoilers to prefoul the barrel as you will definitely be taking follow up shots. Heavy for weight/higher BC mostly works. Reduce the exceptions and you will have a greater success. Happy hunting.

Been doing the same thing but with 6 creed. Using 80gr TTSX for deer and coyotes. I swap barrels every year at the end of PRS season and then use my deer and coyote rounds as a break in for the new barrel. Been using the same load for years, usually half moa or less depending on the barrel. Running 3450-3550 and could go hotter but I don’t really see why. Slap the action in a carbon stock instead of the heavy chassis and it’s pretty manageable for a deer and thermal setup
@FullCircleReloading2 күн бұрын
Sounds like a killer setup!! Do you find the TTSXs to be too tough for coyotes at that speed? I'm not against a solid, but really dont have the experience on super light targets at high velocity like coyotes.
