Great video. Good insight, it’s really helpful to see the 3 cartridges sequentially through the Triggercam. Great video!

Great vids! Just found your channel and subscribed. I've run gas gun since getting into PRS 3 years ago. (Switching to a 5x5 Precision 6 dasher next year just for kicks and grins) I started out with a accurized M1A (It's the only thing I had at the time but man was it fun. lol) and it was a lot to handle as far as recoil recovery/getting back on target. In 2022 I switched to a AR in 6 ARC. Night and day difference. My scores went up based solely on recoil management. Both rifles shoot roughly the same group size, they are extremely close on ballistics, very close on weight, it boiled down to recoil management.

How has the switch to the Dasher been for you??

Its wild how well the maverick handles vertical recoil
@allenbennett4422 Жыл бұрын
It’s pretty incredible. Even on that 308 it did well considering it’s an 18lb 20” barrel. 4 mil of rise is pretty respectable.

Understood. If I was shooting timed matches the lower recoil would be my choice. I don't shoot timed matches. My primary considerations are cartridge availability, accuracy, then followed by impact energy. All three being very close considerations. This drives me to the 6.5 Creedmoor.
@fullcirclereloading1908 Жыл бұрын
I 100% agree. This wasn't a cartridge debate video, it was specific to PRS. The 6.5 Creed and 6.5PRC are overwhelmingly my personal favorite cartridges. They just don't check the box for this type of match.

@@fullcirclereloading1908 I totally get it. Great video.

Usually new shooter will choose the cartridge and Calibre based on availability of components. The dasher is great, but limited brass producers and almost non existent factory loads put a lot of people off that option.

I shoot a 6.5CM. What load can I use to reduce the recoil down enough to spot my impacts and still have good down range ballistics? 100gr? 120gr? Can you get low ES/SD when loading lighter bullets to 2750-2800fps?
@FullCircleReloadingАй бұрын
While I cant say for sure what load you can use that will work. Dropping bullet weight is HUGE for that. In the 6.5 flavors the 130 seems to be about the lowest you want to go and still retain a good BC. But there is a noticeable difference in recoil between bullets. You could also drop your powder charge to something more reasonable. In my coyote setup with my 6mm Dasher, I can feel a HUGE change in recoil when I go from 3550 to 3600. Not much speed, but maybe something with the powder/pressure curve? Not sure exactly what it is but if you start your load workup low, you can definitely find a spot where that recoil feels greatly increased with not much velocity gain.

Could you do a trigger cam video for a .223/5.56? I’d be curious how that compares as a potential option in the Tactical or Gas Gun divisions.

Its on the list. We plan to do a gas gun version of this same test.

Please add the 6mm ARC also, it seems to be the bare minimum cartridge for velocity. Great video thanks!

In PRS, the Indian is still far more important than the arrow. I will give you examples: Morgun King, Jake Vibbert, Jon Pynch....all run the 6.5 CM with 150 class bullets.
@allenbennett4422 Жыл бұрын
I don’t disagree. I also know that this is the first year they competed with the creed. Pynch has been running a dasher the last several years and Vibbert was running a BRA. When you have the time and expendable income to put the round count down a year that they do, it helps tremendously. That doesn’t change the video though. It’s a recoil management game. The creed is a harder cartridge to shoot. Period. The top guys win because they’re studs behind a rifle and shoot out 6 barrels a year at matches.
@johnmelton9569 Жыл бұрын
Where would you buy dasher ammo? If you did not reload. I understand recoil. What about available ammo. Even 6mm creedmoor would be better than dasher if you did mot reload because it's available at most stores.
@allenbennett4422 Жыл бұрын
All of the 6br variants are considered wildcats and don’t have off the shelf ammo. You are absolutely right that the 6creed would be a good choice for shooters that don’t reload which is why I mentioned the 6GT in the video. It’s very close to the dasher for recoil and ballistics but George Gardner teamed up with Hornady and there’s availability of factory loaded ammo for the consumer. It’s a good bridge for those looking to be competitive and not be forced to reload.

Are all the guns the same weight?

All within about 10oz of each other.
@KevinWood44 Жыл бұрын
Dont the rifles you were shooting play a role as well? Weight, balance, etc.
@allenbennett4422 Жыл бұрын
To a point yes. With that said, all three of these rifles have the same balance point and same weight within half a pound. We can replicate this with identical rifles as well. These are my personal rifles so clearly it’s not a caliber debate. I mean, I own them lol. The 308 and creed just flat out recoil more and it makes collecting that vital downrange data that much harder compared to the “gamer” cartridges.

Definitely a big recoil impulse on them. Light gun, lots of powder burned, heavy bullet, and heavy ass BCG.

Good video but leaves out truly long distance . Bigger cartridges clearly have an edge and 400 yds no where near "long range" in today's world

Also. Fundamentals of utmost importance. Might want to think recoil control. BTW. Your not good at it!
@FullCircleReloadingАй бұрын
This wasn’t a cartridge comparison for long range performance. We never mentioned ballistic performance and never said anything about bigger cartridges not having a performance edge. This also seems like a troll post. We are shooting off a tank trap to show the recoil difference between the most common cartridges we see in competition and showed why the 308 isn’t the best choice for PRS or similar style matches. If the recoil management in this video is bad to you, then I would LOVE to see your management off a similar barricade.
